Another interesting snippet is that submarines have been around for longer than we might imagine. In fact,Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea was written by Jules Verne over 150 years ago! The author was inspired to write the book after viewing a model of the submarine, Plongeur, displayed at the Exposition Universelle in 1867.
