    About the Book:

Brace yourself for a seafaring adventure you will never forget! Experience the adrenaline rush of being on board the amazing submarine, the Nautilus, while Captain Nemo, his crew and passengers, traverse the oceans on a quest for scientific knowledge.

During your journey you will encounter myriad wonders, including giant squid, sunken battle ships, the Antarctic ice barrier; the lost world of Atlantis, and more. Your shipmates will be Professor Pierre Aronnax, a natural scientist; Conseil, his devoted assistant; and Ned Land, an experienced harpooner from Canada.

To avoid confusion, 20,000 leagues refers to the distance travelled (which is almost twice the circumference of the globe) by the Nautilus, not the depths descended beneath the various oceans and seas. Another interesting snippet is that submarines have been around for longer than we might imagine. In fact,Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea was written by Jules Verne over 150 years ago! The author was inspired to write the book after viewing a model of the submarine, Plongeur, displayed at the Exposition Universelle in 1867.
