A Fallen Heir’s Redemption By ( Lucian and Freya ) -
Chapter 65
Chapter 65 The Tides of Public Opinion
At Mellow Great Hotel,
Liam entered the room and found Lucian standing in front of the mirror. “Mr. War God, the Gray family’s IPO ceremony is ready, and the Big Five have gathered at the Imperial Sioux Hotel. Shall we go?” Liam asked.
Lucian nodded without expression and looked at his reflection in the mirror. He whispered, “Dad, this is the first step towards revenge. We will ruin the Gray Group’s IPO plan today. It was because of you that the Sioux’s Gray Group flourished. If it’s not rightfully yours, then I would rather destroy it all. Dad, it won’t take long for me to make them kneel before you one by one.”
With a confident smile on his face, Lucian turned to Liam. “Have you prepared everything I asked for?” he asked calmly.
“Mr. War God, everything is in place. With just one word from you, we can destroy the Big Five who helped the Gray Group. Besides, they’re just a regular first–tier group. Destroying them won’t cause much damage to Vandergrift,” Liam replied immediately.
“Okay,” Lucian nodded, continuing, “I’ll go alone for now. I don’t want to reveal my identity at the IPO ceremony. I can handle it myself. You don’t need to come with me.”
“Do you not need me to accompany you?” Liam asked.
“No, I’ll be fine on my own,” Lucian replied with confidence.
As Lucian arrived at the Imperial Sioux Hotel twenty minutes later, he saw that it was the most bustling event in nearly a decade. The parking lot was filled with luxury cars, not only from the local area but also from other places, all of which came to support Gray Group’s listing.
The entrance of the hotel was overcrowded, with guests everywhere, all of them attending the ceremony. Among them, Lucian recognized many familiar faces, all former buddies who used to follow him around and leech off him when he was still the young master of the Gray family. They used to call him “brother” and promised to stick together through thick and thin, but when he fell from grace, they all disappeared one by one.
“Well, well, well, look who decided to show up? Lucian, aren’t you a brave one?” A grating voice suddenly rang out, catching Lucian’s attention.
Lucian turned his head and saw a young man in a suit leading six men and women toward him. As soon as he saw the frontman, a scowl appeared on Lucian’s face.
This guy’s name was Drake, Lucian’s former friend. Drake’s family ran a steel business and was worth a few million dollars, not exactly poor. The three men and three women behind him used

to be close to Lucian.
However, when Lucian was kicked out, these people immediately severed all ties with him. When Lucian secretly married Freya and wanted to borrow some money to buy a wedding ring, not only did he fail, but he was also ruthlessly mocked by them.
Seven years ago, Lucian cut all ties with them, and they had nothing to do with each other since then.
“Can’t I come?” Lucian asked with a hint of annoyance in his voice.
Drake sneered and said, “Of course, you can come, you’re just coming here to die. If I were you, I’d be hiding in a basement right now. You’re already the prey of the Gray Group and the Big Five. Coming here is just asking for death.”
“If it were you, crying in a basement wouldn’t surprise me at all,” Lucian replied with a cold smile. “After all, you’re just a coward who’s afraid to die.”
“Me, a coward who’s afraid to die?” Drake laughed, tears almost streaming down his face. “The entire Sioux knows that Mr. Lucian here is a wimp. He spends his days living off his wife’s family, eating, drinking, and doing nothing. Who are you to call me a coward?”
The others laughed uproariously, especially Martini, who had a look of disdain on her face. “Lucian, how can you even say that Drake is a waste? Ha ha ha, it’s hilarious. Do you know what Drake did just two days ago? The Infernal Group needed a shipment of steel and they came to Drake for a partnership. That one order alone earned him over ten million dollars. He’s a successful man now, what are you?”
Martini was once one of Lucian’s pursuers.
Back when Lucian was still the young master, he was not only handsome but also generous with his money, attracting countless suitors and secret admirers. But in the end, Lucian chose Freya, leaving many women heartbroken – including Martini.
Now, seeing Lucian in his current state, Martini felt an immense sense of satisfaction. She was glad she didn’t choose Lucian back then.
“It’s just a small order,” Drake shrugged nonchalantly. “Once we finish this, Infernal Group will give us even bigger orders. You all know how powerful they are. Being able to collaborate with them is a dream come true for many.”
“Exactly!” Martini chimed in, kissing up Drake while glaring at Lucian. “Did you hear that? Drake has already secured a long–term partnership with Infernal Group. If only you had even a fraction of Drake’s talent, you wouldn’t be in such a sorry state – poor, foolish, and having angered the Big Five. I feel embarrassed for having pursued you in the past. It’s a good thing I stopped.”
The rest of the group joined in on the bandwagon, all for the sake of boosting Drake’s and
ego
belittling Lucian.
“Lucian, you’re nothing in Mr. Drake’s eyes. If you kneel down and kiss his ass now, maybe when the Big Five come to crush you, he’ll put in a good word for you, ha–ha–ha.”
“Yeah, that’s right. Kneel down to Mr. Drake, or else you’re as good as dead.”
“Mr. Drake is doing really well now. He’s already partnered up with the Infernal Group. You know, not everyone is worthy of partnering with them. If you beg Mr. Drake nicely, maybe he’ll take pity on you and let you tag along.”
Lucian couldn’t help but chuckle at their words.
If only they knew that he was the mastermind behind the Infernal Group, they would probably turn pale.
Lucian found their comments laughable and responded with a casual remark, “Wow, you guys are really impressive. To have partnered up with the Infernal Group is quite a feat. I doubt I’ll ever have the chance to work with them in this lifetime.”
“You know, your biggest strength is your self–awareness!” Drake chuckled. “It takes a lot of courage to admit your own incompetence. Of course, Infernal Group wouldn’t work with a loser like you. So, just give up on the idea of ever collaborating with them.”
Lucian was seething with anger. He glared at Drake and retorted, “Even though I may not be able to work with Infernal Group, a single phone call from me can make sure that Infernal Group will never work with you for the rest of your life.”
“Hahaha!” Drake, Martini, and the others burst into uncontrollable laughter.
Was this guy a fool?
No wonder Lucian had managed to piss off the Big Five. He was not only dumb but also loved to talk big. With his abandoned–kid background, he probably couldn’t even enter the Infernal Group’s building, let alone make threats of cutting off Drake’s collaboration with them.
They all laughed as if they had heard the biggest joke ever,
Lucian took out his phone and made a call, casually said a few words, then hung up and strode into the hotel.
“Hmph, what a show–off.”
Drake snorted coldly and said to his companions, “Let’s go, let’s join the ceremony. I want to see what kind of tricks Lucian can play in this event!”
“What tricks could he possibly play?”
Martini looked disdainful, “He’ll definitely be beaten to death on the spot. After all, he’s just a
loser.”
“Ring ring ring.”
Just then, Drake’s phone rang. He took a glance and saw that it was a call from the project manager at Infernal Group.
