A Fallen Heir’s Redemption By ( Lucian and Freya ) -
Chapter 84
Chapter 84 My Own Child
It was Amy’s first time calling Jack, and she was buzzing with excitement. “It got through!” Amy showed her phone to everyone and smirked. Now I’ll expose these liars. Jack asked her who she was, and she said, “I’m Amy, sales manager for a shop in Construction Road.”
A moment of hesitation later, Jack asked, “What do you want?”
Amy turned on the speaker so everyone could hear Jack’s answer. “Sir, may I know who’s in charge of Monsalt’s demolition project?” Amy asked.
“Skyline Realty’s Lucian and Freya,” Jack answered without missing a beat. He knew this project
too well.
Silence fell over the crowd, and everyone stared at Freya and Lucian in awe. They didn’t expect these two to actually be the people in charge of a project that was worth billions.
Amy was feeling awkward. She wanted to embarrass Freya and her husband, but instead, she was humiliated. “What? There’s no way people like them can handle that project,” blurted Amy. She couldn’t accept this.
“What the hell are you talking about?” Jack snapped. “Mr. Gray and Ms. Harrison are more capable than you think. You have no right to question their competence. Do not waste my time with these calls ever again. Just focus on your job, get it?”
“I-I understand,” said Amy with a trembling voice.
“Are you with Mr. Gray and Ms. Harison right now?”
“They’re right beside me.”
Jack got excited. “Get Mr. Gray on the phone. I’d like to talk to him.”
Since the speaker was turned on, Lucian heard everything, and he asked, “What do you need, Mr. Asher?”
“I asked a friend of mine to get me some fine wine from his home country. We can have a glass or two when you have time. You, me, and Ms. Harrison. And we can talk about work?” There was obvious delight in Jack’s voice. He was looking forward to the session with the Gray couple,
“Sure. I’ll tell you when we have time,” said Lucian.
“Of course, of course.” Jack smiled. He then chided, “Amy, you’d better treat the two of them like VIPs. Get on their wrong side, and you’re fired.”
“Yes, of course, sir.” Amy hung up right away,

And then everyone looked at the Gray couple in a new light. Even Xandra shut up, and her eyes were filled with respect and fear. She did not expect Lilian’s son and his wife to be so capable, even the president of Infernal Group treated them with respect. And he let them handle that kind of project too.
Amy was in a pool of awkwardness. She thought the Gray couple was bluffing, but they weren’t. A pregnant pause hung in the air, and the restaurant owner said, “Alright, barbecue’s done. We should be digging in right now. Let’s not talk about work. We’re here to have fun.”
Lilian didn’t want to drag this out any longer, so she said, “Come with me, Minnie. Let’s get some barbecue.”
Everyone went for some barbecue, and the Gray couple asked Austin to join in.
While everyone was digging in, John suddenly hugged Xandra’s leg, and he pouted. “Grandma, I wanna get a Transformers action figure. Dad and Mom won’t get it for me, but all my friends have it. You have to get me one too.”
HE
“How much is it?” Xandra asked lovingly.
“About thirteen thousand.”

Xandra’s lips twitched. She only made about two thousand per month, but she wanted to spoil her grandson, so she said, “We’ll get the money this afternoon.”

“You can’t spoil him so much, Xandra,” her colleague said, “He’s going to ask for more when he grows up, and then you won’t have enough to buy what he wants.”
“None of your business.” Xandra held the boy in her arms and shot Lilian a look. Lilian was holding Minnie in her arms too, and then Xandra mocked, “I’d rather spend my money on my grandson than a granddaughter. Girls are going to get married off in the end anyway, but boys will continue the bloodline. We can always make more money, but the kids must be happy.”
And silence fell again. Xandra was obviously trying to put Lilian down again, and this time with blatant sexism. Boys could continue the bloodline, while girls would have to be married off once they grew up. Opinions rooted in ignorance.
Lilian knew what Xandra was trying to say, but she smiled and hugged Minnie tighter. “Doesn’t matter what my grandkid’s gender is; I love them all the same.”
“It’s not the same.” Xandra lost the showoff session earlier, so she must win this one. “Boys can continue our bloodline, but girls can only become babymaking factories for another family. Any family without a boy is doomed to fail, and you know why some families don’t have boys? Because they sinned, and Go d has forsaken them.”
Freya and Lucian were furious. What is she, mad? Even the usually soft-spoken Lilian was annoyed. Xandra had been really sarcastic since a while ago, and now she was dragging literal kids into this

battle of ego.
“Son, you did good giving me a boy. Oh, he’s so adorable.” Xandra held the boy up and looked at her son and his wife.
They noticed the look on Lilian and her family’s faces, and they laughed smugly. Yeah, we won this one. Let’s see how you like that.
Austin was munching on his mutton, and he blurted, “You know all this talk about gender is built on the assumption that the kid is actually yours, right?”
And silence fell again. Everyone gave Austin weird looks, for what he said was a bit inappropriate. Calling Austin a b*stard was just in bad taste.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Xandra shot Austin a glare.
Austin took another mutton kebab and chuckled. “You keep babbling on and on about how granddaughters are useless, but at least Mrs. Gray’s granddaughter is actually hers. The girl is her son’s child. I know you think grandsons are nice, but that boy isn’t your son’s child. His wife slept with someone else.” He laughed.
