Chapter 96 I’ve Never Seen You as My Father

The group of machete–wielding thugs appeared, and their appearance scared Duncan. He was trembling in fear.

The director, Halbert, was also terrified by the group of thugs.

“Kneel!”

Prince Ezekiel rushed in and put a machete on Duncan’s neck. Duncan was dumbfounded when he felt an ice–cold blade on his neck. It was something an A–lister, who had been living a luxurious life, like him had never experienced. His feet were trembling as he felt his soul leave his body.

Finally, Duncan could not handle the stress and knelt on the floor without hesitation. He started to beg for forgiveness, “Calm down, please. I’m kneeling. Take the knife away and we can talk it out.

The fans were shocked. Some of them who kept calling him Duke no longer had anything to say when they saw Duncan kneeling. Some so–called fans of his even ran away. They knew they could not afford to offend all these people.

“Mr. Gray, how do we deal with him?”

“Get him to lick the floor clean,” Lucian said while looking down at Duncan.

“Do

you hear that? Lick the floor clean!”

Prince Ezekiel gave Duncan a huge slap on the face. Duncan cried while licking the floor clean. He started vomiting after licking his own spit.

Lucian looked at Halbert and the rest. He shouted angrily, “I want all of you to kneel and watch my daughter ride the roller coaster!”

What they said about Minnie enraged Lucian. Now, he wanted them to kneel as they watched his daughter ride the roller coaster.

“Kneel!” Prince Ezekiel pointed at Halbert and ordered him.

Halbert was shaking in fear as he said, “Sir, I am an A–lister director. Please show some respect. Let me apologize to you for what happened. We were fools to offend you. I’m really sorry…”

Before he could finish, Prince Ezekiel gave him a big slap as well.

“Don’t hit me… I’ll kneel, all right?”

Halbert knelt with tears in his eyes. The rest of his crew followed suit.

Lucian sneered and turned to Minnie. He said, “Let’s go and ride the roller coaster”

Minnie saw everything that happened. She found everything to be unbelievable as she was brought to the roller coaster’s entrance like a puppet.

When Minnie sat on the roller coaster, she looked at Lucian who was sitting beside him, and asked, “Lucian, are you really going to buy Magic Mountain?

Lucian smiled and said, “Of course, not. I got someone to forge a contract to fool these outsiders. Besides, the Grim Reapers are indebted to Mr. Austin, so I asked them to help as well.”

“I see.” Minnie was shocked. She thought Lucian would really purchase Magic Mountain.

Lucian dared not tell Minnie the fact that he had purchased the amusement park which cost a fortune because it would shock Minnie.

The roller coaster started to move. It was slow at first and stopped in front of a very steep downhill slope. Minnie was sitting in front. When she saw how high it was, her face went pale. She closed her eyes as the roller coaster rushed down at a very high speed. Minnie might be scared, but she did not make a sound. She closed her eyes tightly and braved the fear.

The speed was nothing to Lucian. He turned around and saw Minnie who looked pale. He did not know what to feel about this. He felt sorry for her daughter who had to pretend to be strong. Minnie had to be strong to protect her mother. She would never show her fear no matter what.

“Minnie, if you are scared, you can scream!”

After a round, there was a short break. Lucian held Minnie’s hands and said, “It’s pointless if you don’t scream while riding a roller coaster.”

“You didn’t scream, so I won’t scream.” Minnie said to Lucian, even though she was still afraid.

“Will you scream if I scream?”

“I still won’t scream.”

The roller coaster started to move again. Lucian screamed loudly when the roller coaster rushed down the steep slope.

Minnie was still trying hard not to scream but when the roller coaster picked up speed, she opened her eyes and stared right into her fear. She followed Lucian and screamed loudly. She finally knew how to express her fear and not pretend to be an adult.

“Lucian, you are a jerk! Do you know how Mom and I lived our lives over the years?” Minnie screamed angrily.

When she was four, she begged outside the hospital to gather funds for her mother’s medical fee.

At the

age of seven, she had to push her mother to the market to set up a stall to make money. They were extorted by local thugs and were looked down upon by others.

She felt so aggrieved. Other children could lay in their parents‘ embrace and watch the television at home while eating snacks, but she was bullied by so many people. All she wanted was a home filled with warmth. A home with her parents, a television, and snacks.

Minnie expressed her fears and her hatred towards Lucian on the roller coaster.

“I hate you so much!”

“You are such a jerk!”

Minnie’s screams echoed around the amusement park.

Lucian stopped screaming and held Minnie’s hands tightly. He hoped his daughter could let go of her facade and express her fears, so he could feel his existence as her father.

Lucian swore to protect Minnie and her mother. He would not let any harm come to the both of them.

“Minnie, let’s go and ride the carousel.”

Lucian dispersed the crowd and chased Duncan and the rest of the people away before bringing Minnie to the carousel area.

“I don’t want to play this. I want to ride the Crazanity.”

“Crazanity? Aren’t you scared?”

“Not at all. Will you accompany me?” Minnie asked Lucian.

It was a small request. Lucian could do that easily. When he was walking towards the ride with Minnie, his phone rang. It was Freya. He answered the call and heard Freya say, “Lucian, it’s terrible!”

Lucian was anxious and asked, “What happened?”

“Come to the Harrison residence. I’ll wait for

you.”

Freya didn’t explain too much to Lucian and hung up. She sounded anxious.

“Is something wrong?” Minnie looked at Lucian and asked.

Lucian did not want Minnie to be worried, so he did not tell her about the bad news. He said awkwardly, “Minnie, we can’t play today. Let’s come again on another day.”

Okay.” Minnie nodded. Then, she turned around and walked away.

angry. He caught up to her and explained, “Minnie. Daddy has things to do. I hope you can forgive me for once. Next time, I’ll accompany you, all right?”

“I’ve never seen you as my father.” Minnie’s tone was disappointed, sad, and cold.

When Lucian heard that, he felt sad.
