A Relentless Pursuit for Love -
Chapter 51
Chapter 51
The earlier episode did not affect Sage’s mood.
The fashion magazine, Timeless, had organized a charity dinner at Crowne Suits. As this country’sfashion industry's leading magazine, the invitation to the dinner event was highly sought afteramong well-known figures and artists.
Even though Sage had received an invitation, she did not bring the invitation card with her. WithLuther accompanying her, she was able to enter the venue without a problem. Sage became thecenter of attention as soon as she entered the venue.
On the red carpet, an emcee was interviewing several artists. The artists were flashing brilliant smilesat the camera as they were interviewed. After the interview, they would sign their names on theboard and get their pictures taken. Sage, on the other hand, walked past the red carpet and politelydeclined to put down her signature.
The crowd of reporters noticed the beauty and elegance that Sage radiated, and they assumed thatshe was someone well-known and reputable. Just when they were about to take pictures of Sage, the bodyguards stepped up and stopped them.
With her back facing the camera, Sage waited for Luther to sign his name and asked, “You're surethat they're auctioning the enamel porcelain plates right? Don't tell me you lied just to get mehere.”
Handing over the pen to a hostess, Luther placed his arm around Sage’s shoulders and replied,"Since when have I lied to you? Come on now, let's go take a look and see what good items theyhave backstage. I'll get you whatever you set your eyes on.”
Before they even arrived backstage, they ran into the chief editor of Timeless magazine. Spreadinghis arms wide open, Luther walked up to her and said, “Hey, Yosie!"
Pulling Luther in for a hug, Yosie gave a soft slap on his back and said, “Where're your manners? Youought to be calling me aunt.”
Luther teased her, “But you look too young to be my aunt.”
Yosie smacked Luther on his back again before pulling Sage into a hug. “How have you been, Sage? It's been such a long time.”
“I'm doing great, Yosie. You seem to get younger by day.”
Rolling her eyes at the playful siblings, Yosie shrugged, “You brats are here to annoy me, aren't you.”Luther and Sage chuckled playfully.
The chief editor of Timeless Magazine, Yoselyn Bennett (alias Yosie) was Luther's aunt. Yosie hadwatched Sage grow up, and they were especially close. However, Sage had never called her aunt, but rather, she called her by her name, Yosie.
It was not often that Sage attended this kind of public event. She had only attended today's eventbecause she wanted to get her hands on the enamel porcelains, and she was also here to supportYoselyn's event.
Yoselyn had no intention of allowing Luther to roam around aimlessly, therefore, she had Lutheraccompany her, greeting the guests as they came. Sage, on the other hand, was happy to sendLuther away as she headed backstage on her own.
The event gradually filled with people. Most of the guests were clustered together in small groups, while Sage was walking around unaccompanied. A sudden commotion had caught her attention.Glancing in the direction of the uproar, Sage froze. She had seen a familiar figure amongst thecrowd.
As if sensing Sage's stare, the figure tumed, and his eyes met hers. Unperturbed by the exclamationsuttered by the crowd of people, he started making his way toward her.
Meeting his cold yet heated gaze, Sage felt her heart drop. Her brows slowly furrowed together.Jace Yuriel. What was he doing here?
On his side was Yoel Fulton who was busy flirting with ladies.!
Walking to the melody of the piano in the background, he made his way toward her in steady firmsteps. He was still as handsome, and his calm steady composure was all too familiar to her.
Sage knew him well, and for a moment, she thought he was still her husband, and she was still hiswife.
In the old days, she was always the one to engage him in conversation. She would be the one toalways cheerfully greet him when h e got home.
He, on the other hand, had always responded to her with either silence or a cold “yes'.
This time around, Sage was not the one to start the conversation, nor did she look warm andinviting. She was still, cold, and imposing. She looked unapproachabile.
