Chapter 540 Sage’s vision blurred under the scorching sunlight. She heard a piercing buzz in herears, and it hurt so much that her head was about to explode. She could not see anything or hearanything. The color of blood was spreading rapidly in her eyes. “Sage! Sage!” “Get in the car first!Let's get out of here!” Ross and the others arrived in a hurry. They picked up Jace, who was knockedout, from Sage’s

arm.

He turned his head, but Sage was nowhere to be seen.

A tragic scream came from behind. Everyone turned and looked over.

Sage stepped on the assailant’s neck and moved her arm. She used the Swiss Army knife andpierced through the assailant's palm. His hand that was still holding the iron rod turned bloody! Her eyes were piercing cold, just like her voice. “Tell me. Who sent you here?”

"Miss, you can't...”

An officer came forward and wanted to stop Sage's rampage, but Cole stopped him.

The assailant clenched his teeth and refused to speak.

Sage remained expressionless and pressed her foot against his neck. She pinned him down, movedher right, and made his wound bigger. The man almost fainted from the excruciating pain.

"AH! AH! AH!"

His tragic screams were so loud. Even the onlooker felt sorry for him.

Sage's face remained impassive. She commanded coldly, “Say it!"

Cold sweat that formed on his forehead kept dripping. He could not stand this torture anymore andfinally spoke.

“It's... Jekyll..."

Before he could finish speaking, a bullet pierced the air and hit the man’s head with unerringaccuracy.

Sage shuddered when the man’s blood splattered on her face.

She looked up sharply at the residential building not far away. A man dressed in black stood behindthe glass with a sniper next to him. The sniper’s gun was still aimed at her. It was as if she would beheadshot next.

The man in black had sunglasses and a beard. Sage could not see his face or eyes. She could see awicked smile on his mouth. In the next instant, he turned around and disappeared.

Meanwhile, the assailant who attacked her was still kneeling on his knees, his eyes wide open, dead.Cole, the lead investigator, reacted quickly and led his men up the residential building. Sage wantedto follow them, but Luther grabbed her from behind and stopped her. “Don't go, Sage! Get in thecar now!” She was forcibly dragged into the car, but she was unwilling to stay still. She wanted toget out.

Ross's cold voice came from the front passenger seat, “You may not care about your own life, butwhat about Jace's?”

Ross's words poured cold water on her and woke her up. She returned to her senses. The wave offury took over her, making her lose her mind. She did not know what she was doing. All she had inmind was to get revenge on that man! However, there were more important things than revengenow...

When they arrived at the hospital , Jace was still unconscious. He was sent to the exam room for abrain CT.

Sage subconsciously wanted to follow him in, but Kane stopped her.

"What are you going to do in there? You won't be doing his surgery. Stay right here and don't goanywhere!”
