Chapter 59

So far, with the sale of more than ten items, the auction had gamered only five million in sales, butSage’s necklace was valued at seven million dollars. Some people in the crowd craned to see theowner of the necklace, but as Sage was seated beneath the dimmed lights the crowd was only ableto catch the vague form of her silhouette.

“The necklace... What in the world is a Columbian emerald? Why is it worth so much?”

The crowd started whispering between themselves.

Those who were a part of the industry could not take their eyes off the glimmering emerald stone. The astronomical price though prevented many of them from purchasing the necklace though theydesperately wanted it.

Jace's gaze flickered to Sage. He recognized the necklace right away. It was the one she had wornduring dinner.

Yoel seemed to have realized it too and said, “Eh, isn’t that the necklace that Sage had on earlier?Wow, she offered the necklace for the auction just like that?”

Auctions that were organized by fashion magazines were usually on a smaller scale, and the itemsthat were up for auction were usually not interesting. Jace had initially not intended to attend theauction, but he had made the effort for Sage.

Yoel, on the other hand, had come across the invitation list that had been posted on the internet byfans. They were excited that their idols had been invited.

Yoel had not cared much until he had noticed Sage’s name on the list. He had immediately gothimself an invitation and asked Jace, “You coming?”

Jace had glanced at him and asked, “Will Sage be there?”

“I'm not sure about that,” Yoel had replied honestly and said, "But who knows?"

“I'm coming,” replied Jace.

Since he had not been able to secure an appointment with her nor did he know her schedule, therefore he had no choice but to try his luck at the dinner.

Jace had never felt this petty and low in his entire life.

Could this be the price he had to pay for ignoring and eventually abandoning Sage in the past threeyears?

Jace suddenly felt mentally exhausted.

Looking at Sage’s neck, Luther said, “I remember that you really like that necklace. Are you reallywilling to give it up for auction? I f you're showing your support for Yosie this way, let me tell youthat you don't have to.”

Yoselyn said, “He's right, Sage. I'm already happy enough that you're here. You didn't have to offersuch an expensive piece.”

Sage smiled.

“It's just a necklace. You should not let its price trouble you. Besides, this is for charity, isn't it? If noone is going to bid on it, I could always bid it back.”

Sage had a collection of gemstone necklaces. She, therefore, did not mind donating the necklace. The auction master started praising the quality of the emerald. “Seven million dollars for thisprecious gemstone is more than worth it. It would be a pity to miss out on this chance... right? I seesomeone bidding for 7.1 million dollars!”

Julian held up his sign as high as he could. It was almost as if he were worried that Sage would notbe able to see him. He even flashed her a smile.

Sage did not even look at him. She would rather spend a hundred million dollars to get back hernecklace instead of letting Julian have one of her belongings.

Yeva was fuming with rage and jealousy. Julian had not been willing to part with one of his ownbelongings for the auction, and he had even made her steal one of her father's items. However, nowhe was willing to spend 7.1 million dollars on Sage’s necklace?!

Had he gone nuts?

“Julian, it's too expensive! You can't afford it! You don't even have that much money.”

Feeling anxious, Yeva did not modulate her voice, and to make matters worse, there was amicrophone next to her. Her voice filled the room. The entire hall burst into laughter.

“Mr. Julian, are you sure you want to bid for the item? Don't get ahead of yourself if you don't havethe money.”

Someone from the crowd mocked Julian. Feeling humiliated, Julian shot an angry glare at Yeva andgrowled, “I am the CEO of the Jefferson Group! What makes you think that I don't have that muchmoney?”

Just because he was unwilling to spend money on Yeva did not mean he was unwilling to spend themoney on other ladies.

“I have my eyes on that necklace, and I will have it. Whoever bids against me better be aware thatthey are going up against the Jefferson family.”
