A Relentless Pursuit for Love -
Chapter 68
Chapter 68
The book of house rules had stated clearly how Yeva should be punished.
“You're crazy!"
Yeva could not imagine how painful it would be to be hit by the ferule. “My parents had never oncehit me, so what makes you think that you can hit me? Who do you think you are?!”
Unfazed, Sage replied, “I've made myself clear that if you wish to stay in my house, you will obey myrules. The Norah family has always instilled the value of respect for one’s elders in their members.Have you forgotten that your dad and Uncle Zane were both disciplined by my dad? They neverdared to go up against my dad. So what makes you think it will be any different for you?”
Sage had the servant place the rulebook by Yeva's bedside table
“Il suppose two days would be enough for you to memorize all of it, right?”
“I will test you after two days. If you get any of it wrong then you will be hit once, and if you darescold anyone, you will be slapped You can try your luck if you do not fear any pain or being hit.”Sage then gave orders to Miss Zamora. “Get someone to keep an eye on her. Make sure she doesn'tslack.”
Yeva was still left in a shock even after Sage had left and two men had shown up in her room
After roughly three minutes, Yeva's shriek shattered the peace in the mansion. “Go away, leave mealone! I don't want to stay here anymore! Sage Norah, you're a monster!”
Sage left Rosa Garden at eight in the moming for work.
On the ride to work, Sage was checking for the latest news and updates on her tablet while listeningto Hunter's rundown of her schedule for the day.
The license for running the horse racing business as well as the safety inspection quality certificatehave been settled. Most of the equipment was set up, and the landscaping is still in process. Wouldyou like to visit the site later?”
Sage nodded. “Sure. Make an appointment with Yoel. Check with him if he’s free to drop by theplace later.”
"Yes ma'am,” Hunter replied and quickly made a call to Yoel. After getting a response from Yoel,Hunter reported to Sage. “Ma’am, M 1. Yoel is already waiting for you at our company.”
Sage furrowed her brows slightly. “He's an eager one, isn't he? Reschedule my meetings to afterlunch, and we'll head to the horse racing track before lunch.”
"Yes, ma'am,” replied Hunter. He relayed the information to Yoel before ending the call.
Going through the updates about the archaeological team, Sage asked Hunter, “How are thingsgoing on with Zane and Braxton?”
“I was just about to report this to you.”
Going through his phone, Hunter played a short video. “This video was taken by the men who weresent to keep an eye on them. Have a look.”
As soon as the play button was pressed, a loud noise blasted from the speakers.
Sage could see a large piece of unassuming rock. It was plain and average-looking. It looked like thestones one would replace in a quarry. However, the rock had been tagged with numerous price tags. Itranged from ten thousand to one million dollars.
The buyers were staring hungrily at the rock. “Cut it open! I'm sure this must be a good piece!”
The video had been secretly taken, Zane and Braxton were too caught up with the rock, and theyhad not realized that they were being recorded.
“Mr. Zane and Mr. Braxton have spent a fortune buying stones, and it looks like they have nointention of stopping. It is as if they have been bewitched,” sighed Hunter.
Sage smiled faintly and said, “This is normal. They have been this way ever since they had gotteninvolved in the antique scene. They act like starving dogs picking up everything on the ground, notcaring if the food were good or spoiled.”
Sage's eyes were filled with disdain. She recalled how her grandfather had criticized her uncles:“You ungrateful brats! Are you blind?! Or are the eyes on the back of your head?! How can you justbuy whatever you see without even thinking it through? Why are you even interested in antiqueswith that brain of yours?!”
As the saying goes: You cannot carve rotten wood, just like you cannot teach an old dog new tricks.Sage shook her head and said to Hunter, “Leave them be. I don't have the time to deal with themnow. Let's settle the horse racing business for now.”
They reached Norah Group as soon as the video finished playing. Getting down from the car, Sageentered the building to replace two people seated on the lobby's couch.
There was someone else besides Yoel. Squinting, Sage realized that it was the same annoyingb*st*rd that had fought with her for the enamel plates.
