Chapter 696

Sage never thought she would cry so much for Jace one day. She had once loved him with all herheart and soul. Now, she cried for him the same way. She wanted to finish all her tears for him.

She never knew love was such a torturous thing. If she knew, she would rather not love him. Shewould rather stay as the same princess who lived in the fairy tale world.

She would rather be naive, unaware of the sorrow of the world.

She was happiest when she looked at the photo of her crush, imaging that one day she would bewith him. She wanted to put on a wedding dress and be his bride. Unfortunately, things did notwork out the way she wanted them to. Her happiest moments were gone. She could never turn backin time.

In the end, did she owe it to him? Or did he owe it to her? She did not know anymore.

After Jace's funeral, Sage was ready to go back to Salem City with her brothers.

Before she left, she received a call from Freya. Freya wanted to meet her at the coffee shopdownstairs in Looming District. She might choose to ignore others’ invitations, but not Freya's. Theformer mother-in-law and daughter-in-law sat face to face across each other and remained silent. Both of them had aged a lot in just a few days.

Freya looked at Sage's pale face and felt sorry. She looked at her worriedly and said, “Sage, you'velost a lot of weight.”

"You too.” Sage’s throat felt dry. She felt sad seeing Freya's quick aging. She held Freya's hand andurged, “Aunt, please take care of yourself. I'll come and visit from time to time.”

“I know.” Freya sobbed a little and wiped her tears. She resisted her urge to cry and patted Sage'shand. “I came today to talk about the will.”

Sage was prepared for this and made her intention clear. “Aunt Freya, I meant what I said in the oldresidence. I don’t want anything Jace left for me. Please just keep them.” “I know you don't lack anyof these, but you deserve them.” Freya sighed softly, “Actually, Jace asked for my opinion before hemade his will. You were married to him for three years. During your marriage, we've all seen yourhard work and kindness. Jay recovered healthy because of you. I moved on from my failed marriagebecause of you. You brought so much comfort to us, including my parents and the few little ones athome."

“We are not forgetful and ungrateful. We'll remember those who are kind to us. You may bedivorced from Jace, but none of us are on his side. We know he treated you badly and wrongedyou."

Sage kept her head low and rubbed the coffee cup. She faintly said, “It's all in the past. I've

always remembered how well you treat me during my three years with the Yuriel family.”

She had said this many times. If not for the Yuriel family’s kindness, her marriage with Jace mightnot have lasted as long as three years. “Jace doesn't owe me anything. I didn't want anything fromthe divorce. There's no reason to ask for it now.” The Norah family's little princess was never short ofmoney. All she wanted from the beginning was just his love. “I know.”
