Chapter 698

“Sage, look at this.” Laura handed the card to Sage. Sage looked at the familiar handwriting on itand felt a prick in her heart.

Twenty-sixth birthday gift... Her birthday had not arrived yet. He must have prepared it ahead oftime.

She opened the gift box with cold fingers.

There was a pair of pearl earrings inside the box. It was cute and delicate. Even someone like Laura, who never wore earrings, thought they looked great. There was a card in each of the other gift bags.It read, “Year XXXX Easter gift for Sage. From Jace.”

“Year XXXX Christmas gift for Sage. From Jace.” “Year XXXX New Year's eve gift for Sage. From Jace.”"Year XXXX New Year gift for Sage. From Jace.” There were a wide variety of gifts in the room, including jewelry, clothes, toys, books, and everything else possible.

Laura stared at the piles of gifts in the closet and hangers. She exclaimed emotionally, “Jace hasprepared gifts for you for all kinds of occasions in the next three years.”

Sage could barely stand firm. She felt powerless. She crouched down next to a huge brown bearwith a bitter smile on her face.

"Hey. Say, did he do this on purpose?”

In the past three years, she had prepared gifts for him for every occasion. Was he returning them allas she did before?

Why? He was the one who hurt her in the past three years and made her sad. How could he makeher sadder than before?

Why was he still holding on to her? Why not let her go? Why?

Sage pressed her hands on her forehead and cried silently.

Everyone wanted their first love to last a lifetime. Everyone hoped to have an unforgettable love. However, not in this way.

She would rather see Jace still alive and well. She would rather them continue from where they were. They would continue until they were both tired. At the end of their fate, they would finally let go ofeach other and be separated once and for all.

Was that not good? Why must he disappear from her life in such a tragic way?

Why must he leave her with such a tragic and unforgettable memory? Was this his goal? When theywalked out of the Fairview Residence, Sage started to feel dizzy again. She suffered fromhypoglycemia. Her face whitened and was scarily pale. Laura hurriedly helped her to a restaurant inthe neighborhood. She requested candy from the waiter. Then, she peeled off the paper and fed itto her. The sweet and sour plum candy washed away the bitterness in her mouth. Sage looked alittle bit better.

During the meal, Laura ordered a few appetizing dishes. However, Sage had no appetite. Lauraurged, “You didn't eat much earlier. You're just a human. You should eat more.”
