Alpha King Versus Vampire King -
9.It's your fault
Anord’s POV:
The members of the pack were filled with joy upon meeting their Luna, even though she remained unaware of her status as the pack’s leader, and news of her identity had spread throughout the kingdom.
A mix of happiness and envy was evident in the reactions of those who saw her as the Werewolf Queen. However, she remained oblivious to the truth, and I could only wonder how she would react when she eventually learned about us.
For now, her presence among us was a positive thing, and I was hesitant to expose her to the dangers that came with her new role.
Coming to terms with the existence of supernatural beings and leaving behind her previous world would undoubtedly be challenging for her. My initial impression of her as a shy and innocent individual was shattered when I witnessed her stubbornness, especially when she snapped at me in front of my own people.
Timing was crucial; revealing the truth about her identity had the potential to negatively impact her, and the thought of losing her was unbearable, especially for my protective wolf.
In terms of her well-being, her recovery was exceeding my expectations, and she was making sincere efforts to adapt to her new surroundings.
To avoid forming an emotional attachment, I maintained my distance and observed her from afar, delegating the responsibility of assisting her to Cresel.
Interestingly, she was growing close to my Beta and Gamma, which occasionally left me feeling conflicted, given her friendly demeanor with others contrasted with her arguments with me.
A voice inside me interjected, blaming me for the current situation.
She displays a distant attitude towards me, while projecting a gentle demeanor to others. Despite her own pain, she strives to assist and alleviate the suffering of those around her.
During the day she went shopping, I felt restless and agitated. Although I had suggested she use my card, she remained stubbornly independent, leading to my loss of composure.
As rogues loitered near the border, I communicated telepathically with Cresel, instructing her to return. In the meantime, Ukrine’s disappointment over missing out on ice cream resulted in a playful curse directed at me. To lift her spirits, I brought her the treat, and she consumed it with a childlike enthusiasm that managed to elicit a rare laugh from me.
This laughter was long overdue, and I found myself compelled to make physical contact with her. With a gentle lick of the corner of her lips and a tender caress of her cheek, I couldn’t help but express my affection. The presence of Tate caused her to blush and hastily retreat to her room.
A broad grin appeared on my face every time I recalled her tomato-like complexion. Tate playfully teased me about my budding romance with my mate. However, the smile shifted to concern when a scream emanated from her room.
Witnessing her distress brought me pain, prompting me to gather her into my arms. Her embrace sought solace, and she gradually found comfort in my hold.
The name Xeres ignited my anger, as he appeared to be someone significant to her. Consequently, I ordered my guards to search the area where she was discovered. A mobile phone was recovered from the southern vicinity, although it was inoperative. Specialists were summoned to retrieve information from the device.
The impact of a past nightmare seems to have left her reserved and reticent. My own commitments involve grappling with paperwork and attending meetings with fellow pack members. To ensure her safety, I entrusted my finest warrior with her protection. Meanwhile, Cresel remains by her side, and the two have developed a strong bond.
“Alpha, Cresel, and Luna are currently visiting the packhouse,” I was informed via a mind link from Tate while I was in a meeting.
“Understood, ensure their protection,” I quickly communicated to Steff, urging him to stay vigilant.
The meeting carried on for an hour, and afterward, I headed towards the packhouse in my car. Along the way, I noticed people engaged in a search for an individual. Fatigue was evident in their faces as they called out the missing person’s name. Opting for a shortcut through a dense forest concealed by towering trees, I eventually arrived at the packhouse.
Stepping out of the car, the sound of laughter and giggles reached my ears, causing my heart to momentarily pause. The sight that greeted me was captivating – her radiant smile and star-like eyes ignited a warmth within me, and I couldn’t help but smile in return.
“Alpha, your smile suits you. Perhaps you should stick by Luna’s side more often,” Tate quipped, amusement lacing his words.
“Enough, Tate. Contact the mobile expert and extract the information,” I responded in a stern tone, shifting my focus to my mate.
Blindfolded, she engaged in a playful pursuit of Cresel. Suddenly, she approached me and embraced me. Her touch made me feel breathless yet I stood stiff rooted on the same place, allowing her to remove the blindfold. Her scream of surprise echoed as she pulled away, inciting laughter from the children.
She walked away, apologizing, and I retreated to my office. Her smile brought memories of my mother flooding back. She had excelled as a mother, Luna, and queen. My parents’ deep love for each other was tragically cut short, both passing away simultaneously at the hands of vampires who sought dominion over werewolves.
Their deaths were an effort to safeguard me, the future king, as they fell victim to a brutal attack orchestrated by rogue vampires. My father’s brother, absent at the time, aided me in reclaiming control. Merely nine years old, I vowed to avenge my parents, and with my uncle’s assistance, we defeated the rogues but only managed to repel the vampires. The conflict remained unresolved, and the war endured.
My commitment to my mother’s last wishes – to be a just king and devoted mate – remains steadfast, yet vengeance has consumed me, casting a shadow of pain over my existence.
Will she love me once she discovers the truth? I’m uncertain if I deserve her affection, but destiny has decreed her as mine and mine alone.
