I stood in shock after hearing what Amelia told me. “Malachi was talking to his ex?” my wolf growlsand all I feel is this anger building inside me that I have never felt before. I glare at Amelia with suchfury I am gritting my teeth. "Chloe, I know that look what are going to do?" She asks, putting a handon my shoulder as I scowl at Malachi from the kitchen before turning my gaze back to Amelia."What I do best, of course. Make a fucking scene,” I say, turning my anger back to where everyone issitting.

Amelia grabs my hand to stop me, but I rip my hand away."l don't need you to try and save me" Igrowl, stepping out of the kitchen, stopping only a couple of feet away from the talking guests. Ihear Amelia come after me, almost running into me by the sound of her shoes screeching to a haltagainst the floor, which gets everyone's attention. “Perfect,’ I think to myself as my eyes travel overall the confused faces. Then I meet Malachi, who lifts a brow in question. "Everything okay?" Heasks, smirking. “Smirk while you can,” I think to myself as my chest is constricting with anger at thesight of his damn smirk.

All eyes are on me as they wait for my response, but I simply walk the rest of the way to them,stopping next to the sofa, my eyes never losing sight of Malachi, until I swiftly take my attention tothe guests. "Leave now!" I demand in a low growl and their eyes go wide. They stand and slowlystart backing away. Once they are safely out of my reach they run for the door.

"Luna, what are you doing?" Malachi countered with a snarl. "DON'T FUCKING LUNA ME!" I shout,my voice echoing through the entire house. Malachi stands hovering over me, in a feeble attempt toassert his dominance. "You need to know that you won't ever talk to me like that,” He commands,reaching for my arm. "Don't touch me!" I growl, ripping my arm away from his hand. He gives me astern look, but I don't back down. "You don't scare me, Malachi.” I spit his name in disgust. “I'm notone of your pathetic pack members who tremble at every word you command.” I sneer. Paul standsto come between us. "Guys, I don't know what's going on, but let's sit and talk this out,” Paul sayscalmly, putting his hands on our shoulders.

I aggressively brush his handoff, keeping my eyes locked with Malachi’s. "Then tell your fuckingAlpha to be a man instead of going behind my back to talk to his ex. WHY THE HELL WAS SHE HEREMALACHI?!," I shout, clenching my fist. I can feel my fingertips vibrating as if my wolf is trying toforce her claws through. "Who told you?” He asks, sending a shot of pain through my heart that hewould hide something from me. “Let me guess your best friend" He retorts, glaring at Amelia"Don't you dare blame her for exposing your lies," I caution, giving him a death stare. "Either youtell me why she was here, or I pack my shit and Paisley's, and we'll leave," I declare, giving him achance to explain.

Malachi steps closer to me and I stand my ground, waiting for his answer. "She came to warn methat someone is seeking revenge for Evadean’s death” he starts, but I can tell there is more to hisstory, “She also tried to kiss me, but I guess your spy didn't catch the moment I pushed her awayfrom me, telling her to leave." He says, looking deep into my eyes, and I know he is telling me thetruth, but it still pissed me off that his ex thought she could get close to him.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I ask, hurt replacing the anger on my face. I really thought we couldconfide in each other about anything. "I didn’t want you to worry," He explains, putting his hand onthe nape of my neck. "Chloe, you have nothing to worry about. I love you and only you," He tellsme, grinning. My mouth curved into a smile, when suddenly it's like a light bulb turned on in myhead. “Holy shit, the blonde is the same woman from the ball that stared daggers through me." Irealize.

I push that thought to the back of my mind and jump into his arms. Malachi caught me easily as ifhe knew what I was thinking. "I love you, and I'm sorry I jumped to conclusions. I trust you with mylife Malachi, but please don't ever keep anything from me again,” I tell him, pressing my lipspassionately to his. We take a breath, looking at each other, and I'm entranced by the way Malachi'seyes sparkle like stars in the sky. "Let's go get our daughter and head to bed" He grins, pulling mein for one more kiss, then walks up the stairs with me still in his arms.

We are woken up by someone yelling at our door. "MALACHI!!" they continue to bang on the door.Malachi rushes for the door, swinging it open with such force it almost comes off the hinges."What?" He growls, towering over this individual standing at our door. "Someone took her, please,we have to replace her" This person pleads with Malachi. I stand quickly, joining Malachi at the door,placing my hand on his forearm. "Took who?" I ask with concern. "My daughter! She had a date witha member from another pack who said he believes she is his mate, but she never came home lastnight, and this morning I found a note saying if I want my daughter back “bring us the Luna ofAberdeen.’ They want to meet tonight at the clearing near forest creek. If I don't show they will killSabrina,” The stranger exclaims, looking at me.

I take a step back and Malachi turns to face me "Luna, we will replace this bastard and get her back,”Malachi says, turning back to the man at the door. 'I will not let this girl die because of me’ I think tomyself as I move around Malachi, standing in front of him. "I will be there,” I tell the stranger andthe stranger hugs me, letting out a sigh of relief.

Malachi grabs my arm, pulling me away from the man with a growl. "What are you doing, Chloe?There is no way I am letting you go into an ambush,” Malachi tells me, his forehead creased infrustration. "I am their Luna, and I will not let this girl die for me. It is my job as Luna to keep thepack safe just as it is yours.” I counter, putting my hand on my hip, letting him know it's not up tohim.

Malachi sighs as he pinches the bridge of his nose. "Fine you will go with Simon. I will gather Pauland some more pack members for this mission. No one, besides the pack, knows that you are nolonger human, so once we have Sabrina you shift, as will the others, and we take them out” Malachicommands, kissing my forehead and walking back to Simon. A slight smile forms on my face. “I'mgoing on a mission’ I dance excitedly in place but stop when Malachi turns back to me, lifting hisbrow. I pressed my lips together, moving my eyes side to side like it wasn't me.

Before my mission, I spent most of the day doing mom stuff like Paisley's laundry, bathing her,feeding her, then reading stories, and video chatting with Marley and the kids. Paisley loves to seemy family. After I put her down for a nap, I step into the hall closing the door to Paisley's room, thenlean against the door, letting out a soft sigh. My heart feels heavy thinking about never returning toher. I close my eyes, taking a deep breath, and Malachi's scent rushes my senses. I open my eyes toreplace him inches away from my face.

"Luna, you don't have to do this,” Malachi whispers. "Yes, I do, what kind of Luna would I be if Iwalked away from this poor girl? I'll tell you! A shitty one,” I say, staring into Malachi's gorgeouslydark eyes. "I won't let anything happen to you, Chloe," He says, curling his lip upward. "I know,you're my wolfman" I say caressing his cheek softly. "I love you" He whispers against my neck as hewraps me in his arms. "I love you too, Mr. Alpha,” I smirk, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
