Alpha Queen -
Chapter 21
Liviana’s POV
I looked at myself in the mirror.
I wore a black sleeveless bodycon dress that ended mid thigh and a pair of black heeled boots then tied my hair in a high ponytail.
It was a gift from Katie.
Then there’s a knock on the door and the door slowly opens revealing El.
“Livi—oh…wow” he said when he saw me. I chuckled.
“Yes?” I asked crossing my arms. He lowered his head and I saw him flush red. I laughed a bit.
“A-alpha, beta Edmond asked when you wanted to hold the n-next meeting?” he stuttered and cussed under his breath.
“Tomorrow morning” I said and approached him.
El stiffened.
I quickly got hold of his face and squeeze it while looking at me as I laughed teasing him.
“Livi!” he whined clearly embarrassed.
“What’s wrong with your face?” I teased. He frowns and looks away.
“Where are you going?” he asked looking away.
“Dinner with Howl” I said casually and put on a pair of black sandals with just the right amount of heels on it.
“Howl?! As in Tyler Howl?!” he exclaimed. I nodded.
“Why?” he asked baffled.
“I made a stupid deal with him to swich tents with Blake because I thought Luan would kill him if they were in the same space for 3 days” I stated. He laughed.
“I think Luan really would have” he said. I looked at him amused.
“What?” he asked innocently.
“Did you just call Luan by his first name?” I said with an amused smile. He chuckled.
“Yeah. He’s pretty cool. I know he’s just kissing a*s because of you but it’s alright” he shrugged. I laughed.
“Are you serious, Livi? Won’t your mate be furious?” he asked. I nodded.
“Oh he’ll be infuriated, El. But I don’t go back on my word. He’s gonna have to deal with it” I said then left the room.
I went out and walked to the gates then saw Howl leaning on his car as my guards watched him closely.
“Your guards are good” he told me chuckling.
“They never once removed their eyes on me since I got here. I feel fluttered that they see me as a threat” he said.
“Oh I’m sure you and I both know that you are a threat” I said and he smirked.
“How am I a threat to your pack?” he asked amused.
“Who said it was to our pack?” I said.
He must have gotten the hint and grinned.
“I’m a threat to their Alpha?” he said.
“Personally to me, not really. To them, probably” I said and he opened the door for me.
“Why would that be?” he asked.
“Well, let’s start off with you not being my mate” I said as I met his gaze.
“Fair point” he said before closing the door.
We drove to a fancy restaurant downtown and ordered stake.
“So, Alpha Crest, tell me. Who are you really? Or what are you really?” he said taking a sip of wine.
“What do you mean, Howl?” I asked raising a brow at him.
“You’re the first female Alpha. You defeated 5 Alphas and probably more before that night to keep your title. Not to mention, you ripped apart a group of rogues all by yourself. I don’t think that’s very common even for an Alpha” he said and smirked at me.
He was there that night when Blake was attacked.
He was there and he must’ve seen it all.
“What are you saying, Howl?” I almost hiss at him.
“How did you do that? How did you heal your human friend like that? I saw everything, Crest. I knew something was up the first time I saw you shift that night in the ceremony. Your wolf wasn’t the same. I need to know how and why” he said with the same intensity.
I clenched my hand on the table.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about” I said in gritted teeth.
“You’re a bad liar” he said.
“You’re a bad date” I hissed at him.
Then, our steak came and I let go of the table as the waiter put down the plates in front of us.
I sighed frustrated.
I need to calm down. This man is definitely trying to get in my head.
I shouldn’t let him.
“Okay. Since you don’t seem to be too happy about talking about that topic, maybe I should just bring up an agreement perhaps?” he said cutting into his steak.
“Agreement?” I said with an eyebrow raised at him again.
“An alliance through mating between your pack and mine” he said casually. I almost laughed but kept my composure.
I put on an indifferent expression as I cut my stake and took a bite.
“Alliance through mating you say?” I said.
“Yes” he said.
“And with whom exactly?” I said uninterested.
“You and me, obviously” he said eyeing me. I tightened my grip on the knife and fork I was holding before letting out a fake laugh.
“You’re not my type, Howl” I said taking another bite of the steak without looking at him.
Once I did look at him, he was frowning.
“You’re mateless, anyway. Don’t tell me you’ll stay mateless and lead your pack until you’re dry and old without an heir” he said it like he was convincing me.
“What do you know about me and my personal life?” I asked chuckling at his words.
“You’re unmarked” he pointed out.
“Does that necessarily mean that it’ll remain that way?” I asked him. He raised his brow at me.
“I didn’t think you’d be so interested in me, Howl. I thought Alpha Trevor would emphasize the importance of our culture to you or maybe you just chose to ignore it” I said wiping my mouth. Howl was glaring at me now.
“Tell me, Howl. What do you like so much about me?” I teased slightly leaning in to him. He smirked.
“I don’t know, Crest. You tell me. What’s so likeable about you that we’re in this situation right now?” he taunted leaning closer to.
Then a loud growl echoed in the restaurant. We all turn to the direction of the sound and see an infuriated Luan.
For the goddess’ sake.
