Alpha Queen
Chapter 80

Liviana’s POV

“His Majesty, Prince Luan Grey!”

Everyone looked our way as Luan’s name was announced by the herald.

“And Alpha Liviana Crest, his majesty’s mate” the herald added.

Everyone gasped.

I looked at Luan in shock.

I didn’t know my name would be announced.

Luan offered his arm for me to hold so I did.

Everyone stared at us as we went down the stairs to the ball room.

Everyone was whispering and murmuring to one another.

“Alpha? Did the herald announce it correctly?”

“The prince’s mate is not of royal b***d?”

“Liviana Crest? I feel like I’ve heard the name before”

“Since when was the prince mated to an ordinary she-wolf like her?”

“The prince actually found his mate”

Those were only some of the things being said by the people in the ball room.

And if I’m being honest, I couldn’t care less.

I didn’t even attend this party to be at their presence so why would I have to please them?

It’s not like I’m here to meet them.

As soon as we goy down the stairs, Luan moved his arm and wrapped it around my waist protectively.

Then, he leaned in close to my ear.

“You okay?” he whispered and I nodded.

“I’m fine. Why wouldn’t I be?” I said and he chuckled.

“I was just asking” he said and planted a k**s on the side of my head.

I smiled.

Everyone kept whispering at our little moment.

“It’s true”

“Prince Luan really has a mate”

“They look like a real couple”

I chuckled.

I didn’t know how to think of the people in the room.

They were simply not the type of people that I’d deal with.

“Don’t worry too much about what these people have to say, Livi. You look stunning and a perfect fit for Luan” Cassandra said as she came to my side.

“Oh believe me. I couldn’t care less what others think of me” I assured her and she giggled.

“If the herald didn’t announce who you are, I’m sure everyone here will assume that you’re of royal b***d” Beau stated.

I almost laughed.

I just remembered that I am in fact of royal b***d.

But of course, only Luan and I know about it.

Luan and I gave a meaningful look at each other and chuckled.

I’m sure we were on the same page.

“It’s a good night to be looking for a new girlfriend” Abe butt in as he gave off a smug smile.

The 4 of us looked at him in disbelief.

“What?” he asked and we just shook our heads at him.

We were escorted to a table and were given drinks.

Luan gave me a glass but I refused it.

“No, thank you. I’d rather not have any alcohol for tonight” I told him and he nodded with a smile before giving back both my drink and his.

“It’s okay. You can drink if you want to” I told him.

It was just me.

I didn’t want to drink but that didn’t mean that he shouldn’t too.

“I’d rather not if you won’t either. I can accompany you better without any alcohol in my system whatsoever” he told me.

I chuckled and smiled.

I looked around the room to see familiar faces that I’ve seen through the portfolio of ‘important people’ that I should remember for this party.

Everyone was wearing expensive gowns.

Most of are wolves who I assume are in their 30s and older.

But there were also a few who seemed close to our age or a little older.

Probably in their 20s.

And all of them have something to do with the royal family.

“Cass!”

A girl about our age started making her way in our direction.

“Ally!” Cass squealed and hugged the girl.

Ally? Who might this be?

“It’s been so long. How are you?” Cassandra said.

“I know right? I’m doing just fine. But I do miss having you guys around like before” the girl said and glanced at the boys then at me.

Our eyes met and I immediately knew that I didn’t like her.

There was that aura in her that I quite didn’t like.

She gave me what the human girls in class call a ‘pick me girl’.

I don’t know why but I just thought of her like that when our eyes met.

“Hey, Abe. Hey, Beau” the girl greeted the twins.

“Sup, Ally” Abe said.

“Long time no see” Beau said.

Then, the girl turned to look at Luan

“Hi, Luan” the girl greeted with an expression that I wanted to tear off her face.

Luan only gave him a nod.

Good.

The girl’s smile vanished as she looked at me.

“Oh! Ally this is Livi. Livi this is Ally” Cassandra introduced.

“It’s nice to meet you, Li—“

“Crest. Call me Crest” I cut her off.

I refused to be called by my first name if it’s her.

The girl slightly frowned for a moment but she quickly recovered and gave me the most plastic smile I’ve seen in my entire life.

Luan and the twins kept themselves from laughing while Cassandra looked uncomfortable at the sudden awkward situation.

“So, you’re Luan’s mate” she said sweetly but it only made me cringe.

“Obviously” I said.

I saw the side of l*p twitch.

What a fake.

“When did you guys meet?” she asked.

I raised a brow at her.

“Why do you ask? It’s clearly none of your business, is it?” I said and I saw her jaw clench.

Abe covered his mouth with his hand and turned away from us to hold in his laughter.

“Of course it’s not. I was simply curious, that’s all” she said in a ‘polite’ tone.

“After all, Luan thought I’d be his true mate before” she said with a smug smile.

I kept my composure and didn’t even turn to look at Luan.

I kept an unbothered expression.

Luan looked at me and I felt him tense uo a bit.

Abe was no longer holding in his laughter either.

“Well, people make mistakes, you know? I’m glad he was wrong” I said with a shrug.

The smug smile on her face quickly disappeared and was replaced with a cold one.

“Who do you think you are to talk to me like that? You’re just Luan’s mate. You’re basically a nobody” she said as her fists clenched.

Luan moved beside me with a frown on his face but I stopped him.

“You said it yourself. I’m Luan’s mate. His Majesty, the prince. Who do you think I’ll be soon enough?” I taunted with a smirk.

The girl’s jaw dropped as she looked at me with pure hatred.

“How are you so sure? You’re not of royal b***d. Do you seriously expect everyone to take you seriously? You’re nothing” the girl spat at me.

“How dare you say such things to my mate” Luan growled at her angrily.

The girl looked mortified at Luan’s sudden outburst.

I held Luan to calm him and stop him from charging to the girl.

“But Luan…” the girl said as her voice broke.

“That’s his majesty to you” Luan hissed at her.

I saw the girl tear up as she ran away from us and away from the gossiping crowd.

I tried to calm Luan down.

He’s all riled up now after what that girl said.

I cupped Luan’s face and made him look at me.

“Hey” I said softly and he looked at me.

Luan’s expression immediately softened and his breathing started to slow down.

“It’s okay” I said as I caressed his face with my thumb.

“I’m okay” I assured him.

Luan took a deep breath and he held my hand on his face.

“I’m sorry” he said almost in a whisper.

I nodded.

“I told you, it’s fine. Don’t get riled up so easily. I could’ve handled her myself. You didn’t need to snap like that” I told him with a chuckle.

“She was saying awful things about you. Of course, I’ll get mad” he said.

I smiled.

“Did you really think that Id let her bully me?” I said and he shook his head.

“Of course, you wouldn’t” he said and smiled.

“Exactly” I said.

Luan finally calmed down and everyone who was staring immediately looked away when Luan glared their way.

“I’m so sorry. I didn’t think she’d act like tgat around you” Cassandra immediately said.

I gave her a small assuring smile.

“I’m sure you didn’t” I said and she looked at me apologetically.

“I kind of expected it though. I mean, that girl literally still looked obsessed with Luan” Abe suddenly said.

I looked at him a curious gaze.

“Who is she, anyway?” I asked curiously.

“She’s no one” Luan said with frown.

I rolled my eyes at him and turned to Abe instead.

“Tell me” I demanded.

Abe glanced at Luan with a terrified look.

I turned and glared at Luan then looked at Abe again.

“If you don’t tell me, I’ll make sure you’ll regret living” I warned in a dangerous tone.

He gulped.

“She’s Luan’s past lover” Abe blurted out.

Luan glared at him and I only raised a brow at him.

“Sorry, your majesty but I think I’m more scared of your mate than I am of you” Abe quickly said.

Past lover huh?

Interesting.

“Since when?” I asked.

Abe glanced at Luan once again.

“I asked since when” I said as my eyes glowed gold.

Abe’s eyes widened and I saw him shiver for a moment.

“Since when were 13. But Luan only entertained her when we were 15 and immediately stopped when he turned 18” Beau answered when Abe couldn’t.

My brows furrowed curiously.

“Why?” I asked.

“Because he simply found out that she’s not his mate so he didn’t bother with her” Cassandra said as she came to my side.

“See? She’s nothing to me” Luan butt in and I gave him a look that made him shut up.

“And she still hasn’t moved” Abe said as he finally recovered.

I nodded in understanding.

So that’s why.

No wonder I didn’t like her.

She had quite an attitude too.

I was right for being a judgemental person and not liking her in the first place.

She’s somewhat like an ex to Luan.

Hm.

Interesting.
