Chapter 16

She looked so f*****g beautiful in her dress when I walked into the club tonight. I knew where she was instantly.

Her scent overpowered everything. I tried to act as tho it didn’t bother me. I tried to be casual and talk with my friends and cousin, but Jace was determined to be with Ashleigh. I had to put him in his corner a few times when I saw several men ogling her.

Of course, she was oblivious to her impact on the people around her.

Honestly, I don’t think she knows the hold she has on me, she is too perfect and pure for me and I don’t know how l got so dam lucky to be mated to someone like her.

I took her upstairs to the little setup Lydia and her crew had made for me, she found me as soon as I entered the club, I suppose Kia saw the interaction and thought it was one of my flings or something. Can’t say I blame her for feeling like that.

I like that she has the same possessive feelings towards me as I do her. At least I know I have something going for me, hoping that it’s enough that her wolf won’t allow her to reject me.

I brought my mother’s hairpiece as Jace suggested, and she looked somewhat shocked as she opened the little box, Did she know the significance of the item already? Or was she just shocked I gave her something at all?

I tried to let her know the importance of it all, I hoped that she understood.

I hoped she knew, I have never been this invested in anyone before. Everyone else was just to fill the void, just a quick fix but Ashleigh, she was my other half, my soulmate. I would do anything to keep her as mine I was not going to f**k it up.

I sat on the love seat while she was looking at the gift, I wanted her to take her time, to love it, and understand what it meant to me.

She looked up at me and blushed as she saw I had sat down. “Join me?” l asked. Patting my hand next to the space.

She looked hesitant like she was arguing with her wolf about the decision, I could see Kia flash through her beautiful eyes a few times. She nodded and bit her bottom l*p, still blushing furiously as she took a step forward.

She sat down next to me carefully angling her body away from me a little to the side like she wasn’t sure of what my reaction will be even though l asked her to join me.

I could feel Jace relax being in a smaller space with our mate, her scent of forest wood and freshwater swelled around me like a hurricane.

l inhaled as much as I could relaxing my tense body, she was here with me. Not downstairs with anyone else.

All I wanted to do at this moment was hold her and k**s her but I knew it was a big step for her to sit down on this couch with me, he llit probably was a big thing for her to be up in this space with me. I didn’t want to push my boundaries and scare her or make her reject me. I needed to take things slow, I knew this, I just didn’t realize how hard it was going to be.

“How was the rest of your afternoon?” l asked, trying to spark a conversation and not make things awkward.

“It was alright, Mum and Uncle held a dinner tonight to see if my mate was in the pack. I think they were a little disappointed but I didn’t want to tell them about us just yet.”

A low growl ran through me at the thought of others seeing her like this, she was f*****g beautiful and I wanted her all for me.

Hell, I f*****g hated it when men around the club were watching her.

She rolled her eyes, “Relax,” she mumbled and patted my thy, sparks shot through me with the impact of our bodies touching, her breath hitched and her eyes went dark as I saw Kia push forward.

I could feel Jace wanting to push forward in response, ‘you need to calm down, I don’t want to move too quickly for her’ I warned him.

“What about you, did you get up to much?” she asked

“Hm, yeah good also, we had training today before We came here so it wasn’t too bad.” she nodded in acknowledgment.

“Can I get your number?” I asked her, hoping that if we had a proper ine of communication things would be better for talking and I wouldn’t have to rely on seeing her at school.

“Sure,” I pulled out my phone and opened a new contact address.

She quickly typed it in passing my phone back.

She grabbed a small gold purse and pulled out her phone “here, put in yours” she said as she handed me her phone.

“What are you doing this weekend?” l asked as I pushed through my number.

“Hmm, Just more stuff with Dad and Uncle and probably try to catch up on study.”

“When can I see you next outside of school?”I questioned, I didn’t know what her duties as Beta looked like during the week, Obviously being from different packs and both packs being so closed-lipped on how they function I have no idea what she does outside of school.

“I can probably try to do something Saturday evening or Sunday evening?”

I nodded and pulled my phone back out, “I’ll send you an address we can meet at, it’s on neutral ground if anyone questions anything.”

“Oh ok”

I heard her phone make a little beep sound as she received the text message. I smiled at the thought of this message being the first of many.

“‘Ahh crap, Ollie and the others are looking for me, he just linked me, worried where I got to,” she mumbled softly.

I nodded” It was probably time we should get back before people start to notice both of us are missing and come looking.”

“Thank you, Zander, I really didn’t expect it” she said before we headed back down rewarding me with a quick k**s on the cheek.

I smirked “It was no worries, you know the rumors about me are just rumors right..”

She rolled her eyes and scoffed. “you are a notorious f**k boy and you know it.”

“Not anymore” I chuckled and said with a shrug, as I opened the door and let her back into the Club.

We made our way back down the stairs, she put both her phone and my gift back into her purse for safekeeping.

We parted ways quickly so no one would catch us together. I made my way back over to Danni, Amber, and the others.

Amber is my fathers, sister’s daughter, my Aunt Kathrine helps Ellie out with the Luna duties every now and then since Dad never took a chosen mate after mum passed.

Auntie Kathrine is mates with one of the head warriors in our pack. Amber is one year older and a bit of a wild one too, not as crazy as me, but she likes the nightlife and likes to f*k around. She has had a few boyfriends in the past but was disappointed when they didn’t turn out to be her mate so she stopped getting into anything serious since it caused her too much heartache.

“‘So anyone wants to hit the dance floor with me?”

Amber asks.

I rolled my eyes and looked over at the guys, Danni was in the corner of our booth with Anni in a heavy makeout session, and Eric and Billy were just sitting there drinking away and having small conversations with each other..

“Sure babe l got you,” Eric said shooting up from where he was sitting.

“Not after last time” she snapped shaking her head at him.

“What? You f*****g enjoyed it and you know it!” Eric stated.

Amber folded her arms across her chest pushing some of her b00bs out and making her skinny dress move up a little bit.

“I was pissed drunk, it should never have happened.”

“Wait. what the f**k happened” I demanded.

“Nothing,” they both said in unison.

I looked between the two of them, I never grew up with any siblings so it was nice to have Amber come around and be like a sister to me, she helped me a lot when mum passed away.

f*****g son of a b***h “you have got to be f*****g kidding me” I growled looking between them both as I realise what happened.

“It was our choice Zander, back off” Amber snapped.

“Oh so now you are defending us” Eric mumbled.

She shoots him a death glare,” and it will never happen again, I’m going to dance” she spun around and left for the dance floor.

I rounded on Eric, I was pissed off. He was one of my best friends and he slept with my f*****g cousin.

I haven’t ever once looked at his little sister like that.

“Look bro it was nothing ok, we both were just there and it just sort of happened, if you found out you found out, we weren’t trying to hide anything from you” he tried to justify his actions

“So Stefanie is single right?” I snap back. I would never sleep with another woman again since Ashleigh. I was still pissed that one of my best friends slept with my cousin. Insinuating I would sleep with his sister somewhat makes me feel a bit better cause it pissed him off and got a rise out of him.

His eyes went dark as his wolf pushed forward in the protection of his younger sister. “Come on man, it was no biggie” he mumbled as he scrubbed a hand over his face trying to settle his wolf down.

“Whatever” I said as I got up and made my way over to the bar. I needed a f*****g drink to wash this BS down.

While I was waiting for the drinks, I felt someone’s hands move from behind me making their way around my wa!st linking together and pulling me into a hug. I smelt her before she made any comment or sound. “Hey baby, want to get out of here for a bit?” she leaned up to my ear and whispered.

Jace pushed forward pissed off that this f*****g woman had even considered touching us without any permission and the fact she did it in the first place after this morning’s conversation.

I spin around almost knocking her to the ground she stumbles back a little bit but gets some of her balance back on her steep high heels she wears. “What the f**k Grace” I growl out letting Jace push forward using his authority.

I was pissed off, I didn’t want Ashleigh to know this was something I wanted if she saw what happened.

This b***h was not backing down and I had had enough. She started sobbing hysterically and slid onto the ground.

‘Danni come over to the bar, I need you to sort this b***h out’ I linked him. I have had enough of her and needed him to sort this s**t out. Danni made his way through the crowd as I spotted Ashleigh with her two girlfriends whispering in one of the corner booths, her eyes connected with mine and she gave me a small smile and a little nod turning back to her friends joining in their conversation, not too obvious but just enough for me to know.

Thank f**k I wasn’t going to be in the dog house for this one tonight. I had already made good progress with her, I didn’t want this to screw anything up.

Someone from the bar had made their way over to the scene before me. He was a burly-looking bloke, not too ripped but just enough to know he works out with short-cut blond hair and was clean-shaven.

I recognize him as Justin, I have dealt with him in the past, he is the Bar manager, He and Lydia are god friends, and we have done several business deals together over the years.

“Everything alright here Alpha?” Justin asks giving me a nod

“Yeah bro, sorry for the disruption, one of my pack members is just being a bit disconcerted, Danni is on his way to sort it out.”

He looked at the mess that was on the floor, Grace wasn’t even drunk enough to not know what was going on, in fact, I couldn’t even smell much if any alcohol on her at all.

She knew exactly what she was doing and she knew exactly where I was which pissed me off even more.

Jace pushed forward pissed off with the interaction “you are never to touch Zander again without our permission or say so, Is this understood?” He growled at her using his aura.

Several people around us had cowered in submission with my aura blazing around me in fury, most of the people at the bar were human so they didn’t submit to Jace but given they were weaker and had alcohol influence it made them submit.

Danni had stopped in front of her waiting for her response. “Yes Alpha,” She said through her fake tears.

I hoped finally with the humiliation of this interaction and the command she would finally leave me the f**k alone. I grabbed my drinks that were sitting ready on the bar waiting for me, nodded to Danni to deal with that s**t, and walked back over to the table.
