Chapter 2

Alexis lay in a pool of her own blood with tears streaming from the corner of her eyes, gasping for each breath she was taking. She looked at her husband’s photos on the desk and blinked her eyes furiously, not wanting to give up on the hope

There must be some misunderstanding

Her mother always told her that a mate is supposed to love you through thick and thin.

“He won’t betray me like this Alexis pulled her body closer to the sofa where her phone was to call her husband.

She was about to dial his mumber when she heard the loud sound of glass shattering and her heart leaped, her eyes widening

W–who is there?” Alexis asked, picking her body with all the strength she could muster before she walked to the kitchen to pick a couple of knives for self–defense.

Only half of her transition was done. She couldn’t afford to have some hindrance to stop it in between.

“She wasn’t supposed to go through all this alone, but it wasn’t her husband’s fault either. She wanted to plan a surprise, and thus, she didn’t tell him what would happen today. It wasn’t his fault. It was her fault for not telling him. Maybe if she told him now, he would return home, Alexis comforted herself before she tiptoed towards the main hall

again

She looked around frantically for any intruder before quickly dialing Augustus’s number and waiting for him to pick her up

He declined the call and Alexis wiped her tears before typing the message.

“Please pick up. This is really important,” Alexis hit the send button as she waited for the message to be seen.

A couple of seconds passed and he finally saw her message.

Alexis similed in hope when she saw her husband calling her.

“Hel”

“It better be important.” His cold voice came from the other side and Alexis gulped before nodding as she looked around.

“Someone has entered the house breaking the window. No one is here. Please come back. I am scared. Also – Alexis couldn’t even complete her sentence when Augustus scoffed.

“Are you not done with your tricks? Someone has entered the house? So what? What would they really get from a useless omega like you? Even they would pity me and leave the house alone when they saw you. I am busy,” Augustus’s sharp words cut deeper than all the time he used those words with her.

Alexis stood frozen in her place before she quickly shook her head.

“No. I am not an omega. I have found my-“Alexis started with hope, but the beep sound from the other hand made her tremble.

The call ended.

He didn’t care to listen to what she had to say. He never did.

No She must tell him the truth. He deserves to know. He was her husband.

Alexis called again, and surprisingly he didn’t decline her call.

He picked up.

“Augustus, please listen to me. Don’t hang up the phone yet. What I was saying is that She stopped speaking, abruptly.

Aahh, please be gentle Augustus. Oh, that’s the spot. Don’t go so hard,

The ambiguous voice of Marianna resounded and Alexis’s heart dropped in the pit of her stomach.

Her husband wasn’t busy with the company’s matters. He was busy tending to that woman.

“Stay put, sunshine. I know what I am doing.” The man’s soft and gentle voice from the other side shocked Alexis even

In her two years of marriage, she never heard him use this kind of voice for her..

It was almost as if someone poured a bucket of cold water on her head. No. It wasn’t cold water. It was acidic. She was nothing in front of that woman for hum

Alexis ended the call on her behalf for the first time.

Her body was aching terribly and bleeding from all the wounds she suffered, but her heart was bleeding much worse.

“So a she–wolf is indeed into her transition mode. My guess was right,” Alexis heard an unfamiliar voice, and she turned to look at the unfamiliar man who was looking at her with lust clear in his eyes.

She felt dread creeping into her heart. She was already broken like this, must she suffer this too?

“W–who are you? How did you come here?” She asked the obvious question before gritting her teeth when she saw the

smirk on his face.

“Please let me go.” Alexis whispered, too tired to fight.

The man in front of her chuckled.

“Let house of the strongest alpha so I could let the chick go? Are you

you go? Do you think I dared to break into 1/ kidding me?” The man stepped forward.

The blood on the floor was a clear depiction of how weak the woman in front of him was.

“Don’t step forward. You have no idea who I am. I am the alpha’s wife,” Alexis said as she tightened her hold on the knife behind her.

The man In front of her sinirked before he burst out laughing.

He was mocking her.

“Alpha’s wife? Did you really not have a good reason? If you were the alpha’s wife, would he let you go through this ordeal alone? If you held as much as a little importance to that man, there would’ve been at least one man guarding the place. But it looks like he doesn’t even care if you live or die.” The man said before he lunged at Alexis.

As soon as the man neared her, she swung the knife she was holding and ended up slicing his face, making the man cry in pain.

Chapter 2

“You bich” He shouted as he saw Alexis trying to limp away.

“Fear the moon goddess,” Alexis said.

“My husband will kill you all if he replaces out what you did,” Alexis fell back as she tried to stand and run.

She thought the man would be down for some time since she hurt him pretty badly in the face, but what she didn’t expect was for a few more men to join him.

“Your husband will kill us? Do you mean the alpha? Doesn’t he have another woman by his side? How do you think we know about your transition? You had locked the doors and windows, no?” The other man said.

Alexis shook her head, refusing to believe a word he was saying.

“You are lying. Stop badmouthing my husband! He is my mate and-”

“And he is in the bed with another woman,” the same man said with a smirk before he stepped forward.

And now we will bed you. Just like our deal with the alpha. Who do you think will benefit the most if you are dirty and out of the picture? Once the mate is dead, no one can force any kind of bond on him. He will marry his true love. the woman he truly cares about. Are you that stupid to not realize this?” The man asked as tears streamed down Alexis’s face while she looked at him in horror.

No. No. No. That wasn’t the truth.

She rushed out of the house to replace help, hoping someone would see her and take her in.

However, luck wasn’t on her side.

No one was outside.

She ran and ran until she could see no one following her.

It was harmful to her. She was bleeding terribly and with her transition only half done, she was in one of the most vulnerabile states a she–wolf could be,

The loud thunderclaps, made her shiver in her place as the deafening sound added to her fear.

“Hey! There she is,” Alexis heard the same man shouting at her and her eyes went wide before she started running. running to save her life.

‘Keep running, Alexis. Don’t stop.”

Alexis heard a voice in her head, and she cried as a stone prickled her skin and she stumbled before falling on the ground, another cry leaving her mouth.

“Please don’t hurt me. I will give you money if you let me go today,” Alexis said as she held the knife close to her chest.

“Money? Do you think money can fix this?” The man who got hurt by her knife said before he bent and grabbed her foot, yanking her towards himself, making the other two people hold her hand in place.

“Today I will show you how I punish bad b*tches,” The man said, laughing coldly in her face as he grabbed her top and yanked it, tearing it.

“Boss, give us a chance too,” Another man chimed in.

That was the last word she heard before she saw the bright lights of a car driving towards them.
