Betrayed by My Pack – Wolfless Hybrids Escape -
Chapter 106 –
Alexei's POV
I am so proud of Cara. She isn't letting them keep her down. She isn't back to full strength yet, but she doesn't need to be to deal with this pitiful Luna. I noticed that Anton watched Paxton, Clay, and Rex as the fight drew on. He walked up to speak to Saoirse. They spoke quietly until Cara asked for her mother's assistance. Saoirse took hold of Lisa's mother and then returned to speaking to Anton. I kept a close eye on Cara but walked over closer to hear what they were saying.
"So, you are saying that two of them have learned a lesson, but the third has not. What about her?" Saoirse motioned with her head towards Lisa.
"She hasn't learned anything. She wants to run this pack into the ground while she transfers funds into her own account. She is going to leave right before it collapses. I really hate to say this, as Paxton is terrible, too, but at least he cares about his pack members. He has built up this pack but needs to make some sweeping improvements. You already heard Rex support Cara to his sister. I will tell you that he and Paxton were in love, an obsessive kind of love, but in love just the same They just really screwed up on how they went about it. Lena called them up and suggested helping them, which got them into this. I have read several people in the pack, including Alpha Hugo. Beta James had not endeared himself to anyone other than his mate and daughters in the pack. I am not including Cara in that, as you already know what he had done to her. You saw it yourself in her memories. I think the best course of action is to call the council and suggest what needs to be done here," Anton told me.
"I can feel their remorse, but it is very hard to let go of how I feel towards Paxton for taking my daughter. I can't believe how stupid he was to throw in with Lena and those rogue vampires. They are not the same as you, your brother, or the coven. Adra was honestly terrified when she saw the stakes in my hand. It was too bad they managed to slip through the cracks. But they are dealt with now. I will speak to Jaxon and Kevin first before I make a decision. Do you want to come with me as an advocate for Rex and Paxton?" Saoirse asked. "Aren't you going to ask me what my opinion is?" I asked. I was shocked that they would not even ask me how I felt about it. I know that Anton can read minds, but I didn't just want them to get a slap on the wrist for taking not just my mate but two Luna's as well. "I know exactly what you are thinking, brother. I have to agree, but I plan on replaceing a solution that works best for everyone involved. Just trust me, OK? I won't allow anything to happen to Cara. Watch over Cara. We will be done soon," Anton replied. I do trust him, but I don't trust any of the ranked wolves here in Kamaria.
I returned to watch my mate deliver some hard kicks to Lisa. I have explored all of Cara's body. I have seen the proof of what she went through while she was here. How Cara can still be so loving and kind after everything that Lisa did to her is nothing short of miraculous. Cara didn't hold any ill will towards the pack. The fact that she is trying to protect them after they turned their back on her shocks me. They don't deserve her kindness. She is a much nicer person than me, I can assure you of that. I wouldn't mind dealing with the ones who hurt her most myself. I glanced around in the crowd. Cara is doing an excellent job and doesn't need my help. I don't have to watch her every moment, as I will feel it if Lisa ever connects, but I doubt she will. I will know if she does, so I looked around for Lisa's friends. After I would ask about her scars, she would give me a backstory of when and why it happened. Lisa was truly a bitch, but so were her two besties. Not going to lie, not everyone in this pack was worth saving. I saw them watching Cara nervously. They should be scared. Other than Lisa, who else deserves to be punished but them? Lisa wouldn't have been able to hurt her if not for them holding her still as they had.
"I give up," Lisa cried out. Her leg was broken, right at her calf. Just like she had done to Cara. The break was precisely the same place as the one on Cara's leg. Cara's leg had been broken so severely it had gone through her leg. She has scars on her body from what Lisa had done to her. Cara's leg has been severely weakened by Lisa having broken it so many times before. Lisa had stood on it to get it to break while Cara was held down. The repeated actions had caused problems with her leg. Saoirse had healed the areas where Cara had previously been injured. I hadn't seen her walk when she arrived as she couldn't stand up with her injured leg. So, I hadn't known at the time that she needed healing. Cara hadn't told us. Saoirse had seen it with her own eyes when she checked her memories.
"So you are ready to accept his rejection?" Cara asked with narrowed eyes.
"Yes, I will, but only if I can stay here and live with my parents. I also don't want you to hurt my mother," Lisa requested.
"Your mother, the one who went to attack me behind my back? That mother?" Cara asked coldly.
"She was trying to help me. Your mother would have done the same for you," Lisa snapped.
"No, my mother has taught me a lot in the last two weeks. But attacking someone behind their back wasn't one of the things I learned from her. Maybe that is something she taught you. I no longer have to depend on others to protect me. I am allowed to train now and took full advantage of it. You never had a reason not to train. Your father and brother were Gamma's. You could have learned a lot from them if you had cared to do so," Cara defended. Once she had the opportunity to do so, Cara learned as much as she could. "Paxton, is that acceptable to you and your family?" I asked.
"I would like to discuss it with my parents. I do not want her to stay here in Kamaria anymore. I don't trust her. She is not a trustworthy person at all. She is vicious and malicious, and I know she would sow discord anywhere she could. I want their opinion on it. It doesn't involve me anymore. I am about to get punished with Rex and Clay," Paxton stated. He seemed defeated.
"Hold off on that," Cara's mother's voice boomed. She walked towards us with Anton, Jaxon, Kevin, and Trevor. I am sure that whatever is about to happen will be interesting.
"Alpha Hugo, can you please come here? Gamma Devin, please come here as well," Anton called out.
Alpha Hugo walked over with his Luna by his side. Gamma Devin was right behind them. They all looked cautious as they approached. Cara put a dome around Lisa to keep her from leaving, and walked over to join the group. I followed her as I also wanted to hear what they had come up with.
It was hard to hear the new plan, as I wanted them to all be killed. But as I calmed down and listened to the reasoning behind it. I finally agreed with their decision. Rex, Clay, and Paxton stayed over where they were near Lisa. That way, none of them could hear what was being discussed. Gamma Emily was also not allowed to be a part of it. I stood at the back of the group with my arms wrapped around Cara's waist. I was hugging her from behind and breathing in her scent. Since Paxton had only stolen a kiss, I guess I could let him live. He should know better than to even look her way after this. I won't give him a second pass when it comes to Cara.
Hearing how Anton explained everything, I did feel better about it. Paxton may have wanted Cara, but he was unable to get her. I was very thankful her father had stood in his way. It was Lena who started that ball rolling. Without having some inside help, Paxton would never have been successful in getting any of them. I could tell he was repentant, but my animosity towards Paxton wouldn't go away quickly. As far as I was concerned, he deserved the same punishment that Beta James received.
Gamma Devin was less inclined to agree with the consensus, and I knew why. Lisa was now unofficially taking her brother Rex's place. She had less redemption in her, and she was still intent on running the pack into the ground. We all knew that she would go back on her word. I didn't have to be a mind reader to see that. She had not accepted Paxton's rejection yet. She thought we were all too stupid to catch on to that little bit of information. Her mother would blow up in fury when she heard what had just been decided.
They decided that Lisa would not be able to have conditions in this. No one was now willing to take her into their pack. I saw from the smile on Saoirse's face that we wouldn't have to worry about Lisa for too much longer. She would push until Lisa's fate was sealed, and I would back her up. Whatever she needs to get it done, we will do. The way Lisa is glaring at my mate is pissing me off. They need to deal with her soon before I decide to do it. I promise that I will make her suffer before I end her miserable existence. It is not worth allowing her to live. She has harmed my mate and cheated on her mate. I can't see any redeemable qualities for her at all.
