Saoirse's

POV

I watched in amusement as Lisa clapped both hands over her mouth to prevent anything else from being said. It was too late now. The very worst thing she was going to do had now been exposed to the pack. A few pack members were surprised by her statement. The rest of them

were angry-no, furious. Her mother, Emily, stopped fighting against Cara and looked at Lisa in shock.

What could she be shocked about? She created that monster herself. Lisa's father, Devin, could not contain himself. "How could you do that to our pack? You have lived here your whole life. For Goddess' sake, you're the Luna. Do you not have any sense of care or compassion in you? How could you run Kamaria into the ground? You took the same oath as I did when you became Luna. As ranked wolves, it is our job to protect the pack. How can you be like this, Lisa?" he asked her with contempt written all over his face.

"You don't get to question me or what I do here. I am in charge, and I will do what I want. You are just scared of what will happen when the pack is drained. Maybe former Alpha Hugo will exhaust his savings to pull it out of the ditch, but I will be long gone by then. Who are you to judge me? You swore an oath to follow your leaders, too, yet you quickly hopped on board with Paxton and Hugo. Don't be surprised when I only take Mom when I leave here. At least she supports me in whatever I do. How can you disregard your daughter to support them?" Lisa spat. This is going to be better than I thought it would. Lisa has no care in the world for what she is saying now. Now that her ability to lie has been taken away, she has no reason to hold back. She is determined to speak her mind today, and I am all for it. She needs to. Only then can the pack see precisely who she is. She has hidden herself well, but the crowd here doesn't like what they see.

"I swore an oath to the Alpha and the pack, as did you. Did you not realize what you were saying or doing? Or was the promise of being rich and powerful the only thing you focused on? Lisa, your mother and I failed you. I believed your mother when she said she would teach you what you needed to know. If I had known that you would end up like this, I would never have let her. Your mind is warped. You are not a proper Luna. Paxton is still the Alpha here. You are not in charge. You need to listen to what you are saying. You cannot mean to take everything away and make everyone here homeless," Devin asked. I can tell that he already knows the truth. He refuses to admit his daughter is like this.

"This is the child you both backed in everything she did? She is a terrible Luna. You left Rex all alone to fend for himself. I saw it myself. The whole pack saw it. They just never realized just how bad this little apple had become," Cara announced.

Her tone was sad. I know that she commiserated with Rex. She understood how it felt to be dismissed by your parents. James and Ellen provided for her but didn't love her like their biological children. I had seen firsthand what Cara had gone through, how she tried every day to make them proud of her. They could have turned their backs on her and left her to fend for herself.

Yet the sisters loved her completely, never judging her like her father and stepmother did. It didn't matter to them when their mother hinted for them to stop supporting Cara. I will always protect them for what they did for my daughter. They didn't have to. Their lives were undoubtedly harder to do so. But they loved Cara, and I love them. I will be their bonus mother if they need me to be.

"Lisa, stop talking this instant," Emily cried out. Cara let Emily go, as Lisa had already done the damage I wanted her to do. There was no coming back from the comments she just made. She didn't even realize the pack members behind her were furious. I don't want them taking this into their own hands. They would feel guilty for killing her, and it would create issues between the Gamma couple and the pack.

"It is too late for her to stop talking now, Emily. What are you worried about? Let me guess, your rotten apple being punished by the very pack members she was plotting against?" I asked her candidly. I knew that with just a little nudge, Lisa would be showing her true nature to the pack.

"She hasn't even done anything yet, Saoirse. You have no power here. You need to take your daughter and leave before the Council gets here. You are going to be in a great deal of trouble if you hurt anyone here. You can't just punish her for just thinking about it. She was messing around. She has no intention of doing that to her pack. She is the Luna, and she cares for all of her pack members. She is just angry and hurt. It's Paxton's fault for hurting her over and over again. She didn't mean any of it; she was just upset. It is Paxton and his friends who are the ones who deserve to be punished, not Lisa," Emily cried out.

"You're aware that your only son is one of the guilty parties. You would throw your son to the wolves to save your daughter?" I asked. I already knew the answer. I added the truth spell to Emily now, knowing she would not stop with that comment.

"Mom, you have always taken care of me my whole life. Thank you for standing up for me now. Dad sure isn't going to do it," Lisa whined and crawled over to hold onto her mother's leg.

"Stop this! You're getting off-topic again, Lisa. Accept my rejection," Paxton told her.

"It's not going to happen, Paxton. I won't reject you for you to just rid yourself of me. I will live here in Kamaria for the rest of my life. I will allow you to replace someone besides Cara to bear your pups, but I will always be your Luna," Lisa's shrill voice rose higher for all to hear. She was telling the truth. She wasn't going to accept his rejection willingly. She was going to cling to him until the bitter end.

"It isn't up to you to 'allow' me to do anything, Lisa. I'm the Alpha here, not you. You will accept my rejection. You have done enough over the years to warrant a clean break between us. I can't be free to replace my true mate if you are in the way. Accept the rejection, and you can still live here with your parents. If you refuse, I hope you know there are other ways to break the bond," Paxton told her. He was right, but it would be easiest for the both of them for her to agree to let him go.

"I will never step down, Paxton, never. I cannot imagine how you are just completely fine with humiliating me like that in front of my own pack. You agreed to accept me as your chosen mate. I didn't force you to do it. That was all your bad decision. Suck it up. You have to live with it now. I'm not sorry about it, this whole thing is on you for accepting me. I won't make way for anyone else to be the Luna here. I don't care what you do to me," Lisa snapped back.

"You are a piece of work, Lisa, consistent until the end, but it is the end now. Let him go. He doesn't want you. He never did. You just kept throwing yourself at him daily until he slept with you. Stop fucking acting like you love or care about him. If you did, you would have never cheated on him. You make me so sick, acting so high and mighty. Like you are the only child of our parents that even matters to them. I have always come in second compared to you, and I'm sick of it. You are no better than me, Lisa. Stop acting as if you care for anyone other than yourself. I have never in my life seen someone so devious and disgusting. You never deserved to be the Luna here. You might be able to fool Mom and Dad, but you don't fool me," Rex told her icily.

It was clear that there was no love lost between them. They couldn't stand each other at all. He didn't anticipate getting a response from her, which is sad. From everything that I have noticed, she doesn't speak to him. She whines to her parents, and they force him to do what she wants. How can a sister be so cold to her brother? As an only child, I would have loved to have a sibling. Someone to help teach me after I lost my mother.

"Mind your business, as this has nothing to do with you, Rex. This matter is just between me and Paxton. He's a grown man, and doesn't need your input or support in this. You are not out of trouble yet, so if I were you, I would keep my fucking mouth shut," Lisa snapped at him. "He is just as entitled to his opinion as you are, Lisa. He is the Gamma, for Goddess's sake, and your older brother. He deserves just as much respect as you do. You don't have any right to speak to him like that," Cara chimed in with her opinion. I was proud to see my daughter snap back at Lisa. I was worried that Cara would allow this situation to keep her down. This pack brought no positive memories back to her. I didn't want her nightmares to come back to her.

"Are you serious, Cara? Does Rex deserve respect? Why would you even say that?" Lisa blurted out. "Please stay out of it if you don't have facts. Believe me, Rex has been given more than enough. He is Gamma only because of my father. He didn't earn or merit it. Truth be told, he shouldn't even be here," Lisa said and then froze. She said too much and was now panicking to keep from saying anything else. This was it. I had her where I wanted her. Anton had already told me the secret, but I wanted to work her into this position. The resulting blowup couldn't happen to nicer she-wolves.

"Lisa, so are you telling me that your mother was pregnant by another man but told your father that it was his?" I asked as if I was shocked to have heard such a thing.

"Shut up, Saoirse!" Emily cried out.

"If Rex doesn't belong to Devin, then who does he belong to?" I asked with a smile. I could see that Devin was gutted by the news. He had to have known deep down inside that this was the case. Males can always sense their young, and this revelation that just got exposed explained a lot. No wonder Devin did more for Lisa than he did for Rex. Rex was not his son.
