Paxton's

POV

I cannot believe that they would have the nerve to knock Clay out and go on the run like that. I know them. They are not spur-of-the-moment women. That can only mean that they knew what was about to happen. I don't know how they found out, but I am furious that we have to go on the hunt to replace them. I will punish all three of them for trying to escape their destinies. I had made special plans for them, and the fact that they decided to take their chances and leave had really pissed me off. I don't think that I have ever been this mad in my life. I wanted to punch Stan in the face for allowing them to escape.

He was the one who allowed Brenna to drive right out of here. But the blame wasn't only on him. Lisa used Brenna to go on errands all the time. She couldn't beat her up, so she made Brenna her little errand girl. Picking up her orders from various stores in the city for her."If you're not on oɓ. right now, this content has been scraped! We appreciate your loyalty if she hadn't been spiteful for doing that for years, they would have never been able to leave here so easily. My fists tightened up in anger. I will deal with Lisa, too, once she gets back. I can't lose this opportunity for a few days of peace. I have to replace Cara today, no matter what.Clay had told me that he had caught Cara in his house, trying to steal something. He was pretty evasive about what she was trying to take from him. He didn't give a lot of details, only that he had grabbed Cara's leg to try to keep her from getting away. I could tell that the blood on his floor did belong to her, and his study was in disarray. I have no idea why Cara would have even come here. The story of her coming here to say goodbye to her father seemed pretty far-fetched to me, as she could have gone to his grave. She had to have been up to something. We just needed to replace out what it was.

They only had a ten-minute head start. I thought we would catch them quickly, but they eluded us. My trackers finally determined which way they were going through the tracker. We found their SUV in a bad area of town, but they weren't there. I had one of my warriors drive it back to the pack. We would search it for clues if we couldn't pick up their trail.

We lost time at that point. We went to the bus terminal, but it took me way too long to charm someone into giving us information. We were well over an hour behind them when we finally knew where they were going. I hate this. I had big plans for my little sorceress tonight. I would not be giving them up. I called in a favor from another Alpha and managed to use their plane to beat them to the next city.

It was just me, Clay, and Rex at this point. Rex's father, Devin, my father-in-law, was in charge of the pack until we returned. None of us told him where we were going or what we were doing. The whole pack had felt it when the bond broke when Brenna and Luna broke their pack bond, so it wasn't a stretch to figure out why we left. Cara was not a formal pack member, but I would not rest until I got her back.

After we showed their pictures at the train station, we figured out where they were probably going. This was all Brenna. Too fucking smart for her own down good. She was going to pay for taking Cara away from me. Rex would have to get over it. She would heal soon enough from the beating I was going to give her for taking Cara away from me. Someone is going to have to bear the brunt of my anger. It couldn't be Cara. She was basically a human. I was furious with Clay for hurting her. The only good that came out of it was that her injury would slow them down. We headed back to the airfield to try to make up for the time we had lost. They were still headed south, and I had a sinking feeling that I knew where they were going. Brenna was too smart for her own good. I was really going to have to deal with her harshly when I caught them. I had Clay call ahead and get us transportation at a rental place. Only a few strong packs were in the area where they were going. Unfortunately for me, the Alphas in the area were all connected through family or friendship. I was going to have to be careful here. I didn't want to start a war if I didn't have to.

We were all quiet as we got the rental car and headed towards Black Adder. I was sure they would be heading there as Cara is a witch, not a wolf. Brenna was going to make an excellent gamma female for Rex. As angry as I was, she made up a brilliant plan. She was running towards one of the strongest packs in the state. If we hadn't come to look for Clay when he didn't return to the meeting, they would have had an even larger head start on us.

"Do you think that we will be able to catch them before they get to Black Adder?" Rex asked. I could hear the nervousness he had in his voice.

"Yes, now, did you load the tranquilizer darts and the gun into your duffle bag?" I asked. We had come prepared. I would take them all back to my pack before I dealt with them. They will all be replaceing out what happens when you cross me. Cara would get less than her sisters would, only because she couldn't take it. Her sisters were both strong and needed to learn a hard lesson. They will all know that if they try anything like this again, I will kill them. Not Cara, but both Brenna and Luna would lose their life if they dared to disobey like this again. "Yes, Paxton, they are in my bag. Clay, you need to speed up. I don't want to lose them where we are this close. I don't know how far behind we are behind them. I know we caught up some time, but we also lost time being unable to beat those humans for answers. It would have been much quicker to force them to talk. I hated how you had to flirt to replace out what we needed to know," Rex huffed.

"I am already doing seven mph over the speed limit. I don't want to get pulled over. Just calm down. We will be there soon. We managed to skip the bulk of the line by ordering our rental online. They may even be behind us, so stop talking. You are making Paxton and me nervous," Clay barked out.

I wanted to punch both of them. I am holding onto my temper by a thread. I don't need any more bullshit to happen. The ringtone I assigned Lisa started playing a few seconds later, and I wondered if I was cursed. I am so sick of her. I may have to get rid of her next. She is indeed a drain on the pack funds. Maybe I can get rid of her and her friends in one accident. I was smiling at the thought of it when I answered the phone, "Yeah?"

"Where are you, Paxton?" Lisa's shrill voice cuts through the SUV.

"Why?" I replied. I had already decided that I was going to cut her loose. I started toying with the idea of making it happen when she was in Los Angeles. That might be the best decision.

"Cara is missing. She didn't come to work today. I also felt the pack bond break with Brenna and Luna. Are you with them?" Lisa asked.

"I knew that Brenna and Luna had left. I didn't know Cara had. She is not a member of the pack. I am looking for Brenna and Luna now. There was an incident this morning, and Clay was attacked. They need to be punished for it, so I am looking for them," I explained. She needed to know that some form of punishment was deserved for the knot that was still on Clay's head.

"Paxton, I am fine with Brenna and Luna returning to the Kamaria pack and being punished. But, I draw the line at Cara being allowed to return. I know that you want her, but do not bring her back. I refuse to allow her to live in my pack. She is a worthless witch, and she makes our pack members nervous. She could come into her powers and punish the whole pack. It isn't safe to have her here. Just get rid of her. I don't want her to ever return. Do whatever you want to do to her first to get it out of your system. Then, kill her. I am fine with that. It should break the spell she has over you. Just make sure you kill her once you are done. OK, Paxton?" Lisa told me.

Lisa makes me furious. She is not the one in charge here. I will not let her think she can order me around like that. I don't care if she is my Luna. I don't care that her brother is sitting right behind me. I saw red when she told me what she did. How dare she tell me to kill Cara? "Don't you ever tell me what to do, Lisa. Know your place. You need to ensure you don't spend too much on your trip. I will be checking the accounts when you get back. You are not my mate, you are simply a chosen. If I had to do it all over again, I would have never chosen you, no matter what our parents said. I think that you actually believe we have a love match. We are not. Your title can change, so do not try to force my hand. If you do this again, that will be the day that you cease to be the Luna of the Kamaria Pack," I roared out at her in anger. No one in the SUV spoke. I could hear Lisa breathing heavily into the phone before she hung up without saying another word. I don't care. I have nothing to say to her at all. I wish I had never made her my chosen mate. She was good for knocking the edge off but nothing else. She is abrasive and hateful to everyone. Nothing else was said as we raced towards the Black Adder pack.I refuse to think about Lisa for another minute. She is a problem that I will deal with another day. I need to make sure that I get Cara back first. That is all that matters to me. I don't care about Brenna or Luna. In fact, I hope that we can't get them back. They can stay at Black Adder. I only want what I came for, Cara. If Clay and Rex can get their women back, fine by me. But I am not going to put my neck out for them. It would be fine if we could catch them all outside the gate at Black Adder. But if they made it inside the pack, the only one I would demand back is Cara. Clay and Rex will have to make their own deals to get Luna and Brenna back.
