“Have you received the divorce decree from the court yet?” Sean asked as they sat leisurely in the backyard garden.

Rebecca winced. “I’ve cut off all communication, but since it hasn’t even been a month, I’m sure the decree hasn’t been issued yet,” she replied, uncertain. Talking about her divorce from Harvey always made her joints ache as if her body despised the divorce itself.

Sean nodded. “You’re right. Haven’t you seen the latest gossip news?” he asked cautiously.

“Gossip news?” Rebecca frowned. “I haven’t checked my phone or watched the news since I got here. Is there something I should know?” she asked, trying to hide her

nervousness.

“Um, maybe you should see for yourself.” Sean pulled his phone from his pocket, scrolled for a moment, and then handed it to Rebecca.

Seeing Lily’s face made her feel guilty for being so selfish as to bring an innocent baby into the world when she couldn’t give her perfect happiness.

Chapter 71

Rebecca was touched by Sean’s words. She took a deep breath, covered her face with her hands, and started sobbing. Suddenly, Lily also began crying loudly, as if sensing what her mother was feeling.

“Don’t worry, I got her!” Sean exclaimed, leaping towards Lily and picking her up in his arms. “You know what? Take your time, I’ll take her to your room,” he said. He quickly went into the house before Rebecca could say anything.

Rebecca watched Sean’s back while wiping her tears, She still remembered how excited Harvey had been when he learned she was pregnant; he even cried when Lily was born. How could everything end like this?

“Becky, is everything okay?”

Suddenly, Angela appeared from the door, looking at Rebecca with surprise. Rebeccal quickly wiped her tears and cleared her throat softly. “Yeah, you’re home already,” she replied, forcing a smile.

“Yeah, but I’ll be going back to Charles’s house this evening. They’re having a small party,” Angela replied, then sat next to Rebecca. “Did you have a fight with Sean? Did he hurt you?” she asked anxiously.

Rebecca shook her head, smiling faintly. “No, Sean and I are fine. It’s just me and my problems,” she replied carefully. At least Angela thought her relationship with Sean was real, so she felt she had to protect her feelings because what mother would want her son to be hurt?
