The crowd turned silent for a moment, a tense hush as everyone realized that the unwanted meeting had finally happened. Rebecca, Sean, Harvey, and Alicia, each in their wedding outfits, stood out starkly from the people around them.

Rebecca dared to look at Harvey, and the sting was still there. Her heart pounded hard. and the hated that reaction. It felt like she was betraying Lily every time she felt a rush of emotions towards Harvey. She could see the surprise, astonishment, and jealousy in Harvey’s eyes. Or was it just her imagination? But she was sure Harvey looked

displeased when he saw Sean suddenly wrap his arm around her waist, with Lily sleeping comfortably in his arms, as if he was showing the world that they were a happy little family.

Then her eyes moved to Alicia, who was smirking at her. If she followed her ego, she could confront Alicia right there, in front of everyone, but she knew that would only make people think she still hoped for Harvey.

“Are you stalking us?” Alicia hissed, deliberately provoking trouble.

“Becky, let’s go, there’s no need to listen to a donkey talk. Such a waste of time. Sean interjected before Rebecca could respond. He took Rebecca’s hand, pulling her from the crowd, with Angela and Cassie following behind.

Entering the Ai Fiori restaurant, they were greeted by two hosts who led them to their table. And as if the day couldn’t get worse, Rebecca crossed paths with Victoria, who had just come out of the powder room.

Rebecca’s steps stopped automatically. She stood just two feet in front of Victoria, who was glaring at her.

“Missed New York already, Harper?” Victoria hissed coldly.

“Parker, it’s Parker now, Ma’am,” Sean interjected, as usual saving Rebecca from anyone trying to attack her.

Victoria snorted, “What kind of fake marriage are you involved in now, huh? Do you think I’m stupid?”

“Fake or not, it’s none of your business! But liten carefully, Rebecca Parker and Lily Parker are part of me now, so if you ever dare lay a hand on them, you’ll have to deal with me.” Sean hissed, stepping forward to stand level with Rebecca, who just stared at Victoria with clenched fists.

Victoria covered her mouth, suppressing a laugh,

“That sounds scary, well, nice try considering you’re a pediatrician,” she remarked sarcastically.

Sean grabbed Victoria’s wrist and held it tightly. “Don’t try me! I can do worse if you keep bothering my family. Do you think I’m a moral doctor? Oh, you’re so wrong! I can kill someone without remorse if I want to, so mind your inheritance and don’t ever touch my family!”

Rebecca shivered at Sean’s words; for a moment, it was like he was possessed. Victoria’s face turned pale instantly, she shook off Sean’s hand, and quickly walked away from them.

“Sean, what was that?” Angela asked, her voice trembling, thinking there was something she didn’t know about her beloved son. Beside Angela, Cassie was wringing her sweaty hands, also looking at Sean with a fearful face waiting for an answer.

Sean shrugged casually, “A little bluff, I copied that scene from a movie I watched last night. Did my acting seem that real? Well, you didn’t expect me to cry and beg the old. witch, did you?” he said as he pulled out a chair and sat down calmly as if nothing had happened.

Rebecca swallowed hard; she wanted to believe Sean’s words, but the look in Sean’s eyes when he threatened Victoria reminded her of Nicholas, and it made her uneasy. She glanced at the table where Victoria was sitting with some of her socialite friends and was almost sure her former mother–in–law was still shaken.

“Becky, can I post on social media about the vandalism at your wedding venue? I mean, the news is already out there, I just need to make a narrative that Alicia Fox might be behind it,” Cassie chattered, making Rebecca turn her gaze away from Victoria.

Rebecca and Sean took turns cating because they forgot to bring Lily’s stroller, and Victoria watched them from afar, secretly observing the scene.

As Rebecca was enjoying her dessert, Victoria suddenly approached.

“We need to talk,” she said, her chin held high, refusing to show any weakness.

“Just talk, there’s no secret here,” Rebecca said, shrugging, trying to show that she wasn’t intimidated.

Victoria looked around the table and saw everyone staring at her, waiting for her to speak.–She cleared her throat twice and then returned her gaze to Rebecca. “Stay away from New York if you want your life to be peaceful!” she threatened firmly.

Rebecca shook her head, “I can’t, my husband and I both have jobs here,” she replied calmly, fighting the fear raging inside her.

Victoria glared angrily, “Admit it, you want to use Lily to claim Harvey’s fortune in the future, right? Do you think I’m stupid?”

“Yo, Vicky!” Sean snapped angrily. “Lily is my daughter, she’s not your granddaughter or Harvey’s daughter! We’re going to change her name legally, and the Specter name will never be part of her. So can you just chill?” Sean said casually. He took a deep breath, “And one more thing, seriously, have you never heard of the Parker family from Boston? Rebecca doesn’t need your money, trust me,” he continued with a mocking smile, deliberately trying to break Victoria’s spirit.

Victoria glared, “For your information, your wealth doesn’t compare to our family’s, not even half. Make sure your baby changes her last name and never associate her with- Harvey again, because if you lie, I’ll come myself and eliminate her!”

Sean stood up,

“If it wasn’t for not wanting to shock my daughter, I would have thrown this glass at your face. Vicky, stop threatening, okay? I’m pretty good with a scalpel during a C- section, so I can try that skill on your wrinkled face,” he hissed, one hand holding a steak knife stained with mushroom sauce.

Victoria’s face turned red instantly, she threw one last sharp look at Rebecca before walking away. Rebecca took a deep breath, then turned to look at Sean and stared at him intently.

“Sean, is there something you’re not telling me?”
