CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 1584

After breakfast, Jamie took Charlie to his preschool. It wasn't far. It was just a ten-minute drive.
From a distance, she spotted a teacher with long hair and a scarf standing at the preschool entrance, greeting parents and students. Recognizing her as Miss Georgia, Charlie's homeroom teacher, Jamie approached her with a smile. Miss Georgia crouched down to Charlie's level and beamed. "This must be Charlie! He's so handsome. What a little gentleman!"
Charlie, shy as ever, blushed and hid behind Jamie, peeking out to observe his new teacher.
Miss Georgia couldn't help but chuckle at how adorable he was.
Jamie smiled apologetically. "He's a little shy."
"That's perfectly normal. Kids this age are often like that. Would you like to take a quick tour of the preschool, Miss Lewis?"
"No, that's okay. I need to get to work. I'll stop by later after I finish for the day."
After giving a few parting instructions to Miss Georgia, Jamie waved goodbye to Charlie and left.
On her way to work, Jamie took a deep breath to calm her nerves.
Today wasn't just Charlie's first day at preschool and t was also her first day at her new job.
Arriving at the towering Lucas Corporation building, Jamie noticed that many employees were already there.
On her first day at work, Jamie wasn't expected to dive into her duties immediately. Instead, someone had been assigned to show her around and familiarize her with the company and her role.
Ben had arranged for his assistant, who had returned from leave specifically for this task, to handle her onboarding.
During this time, Ben was also managing his father's serious illness and juggling responsibilities within the company while overseeing a legal case. He was careful to stay within the rules that lawyers were prohibited from directly engaging in business operations.
Still, the company staff often tested his patience. Despite his efforts to maintain professional boundaries, one after another referred to him as "President Lucas," a title that blatantly disregarded his role as a lawyer. Ben couldn't help but feel exasperated by their loose tongues.
"This here is the conference room,"
the assistant explained as they walked. "There's an important
meeting Scheduled at ten o'clocket
the secretary, one of your
responsibilities will be to take notes on key points during meetings."
As he spoke, a female employee holding a coffee cup approached, her curiosity evident. "Is this the new secretary?"
She gave Jamie a quick once-over, her expression filled with intrigue.
Word of Ben hiring a new secretary had spread quickly throughout the company. Rumors had been
swirling, especially after Ben had
gone out of his way to recall his net

assistant from leave to help the new hire get acquainted with the O
company. It was a move he hadn't even made during particularly
chaotic times.
Pulling someone out of their cozy family time to assist with onboarding had struck many as extraordinary.
Jamie greeted the woman with a warm smile. "Hello."
The employee blinked in surprise, her initial wariness replaced with slight embarrassment. "Do you want some coffee? I also have an extra breakfast if you'd like it."
Jamie was caught off guard by the unexpected kindness but accepted graciously It was clear the breakfast hadn't been "extra". The woman had likely brought it as a gesture to connect. Rejecting it would have felt unkind.
To Jamie's relief, this small act of goodwill helped ease her first-day jitters.
Under the assistant's guidance, Jamie quickly familiarized herself with the company. By the time the ten o'clock meeting rolled around, she felt much more at ease.
As the assistant prepared to leave for other tasks, he hesitated. "You don't need to jump into work right away on your first day. Would you prefer to stay here and settle in?" Jamie shook her head and replied with determination, "I'd feel bored just sitting around. Let's head to the meeting together."
Impressed by her enthusiasm, the assistant nodded. His initial doubts about her capability began to fade. Based on her attitude, he figured she was unlikely to fall short.
Inside the conference room, Jamie's presence didn't go unnoticed.
Ben's eyes lingered on her for a brief moment before he looked away, his expression neutral.
The meeting began with the project team stepping forward to present their updates.
