Chariot 3: Conception
Chapter 13 – “Is he coming with us?”

Once the briefing about the sodium nitrate ended V-Nus, Flumen, Cai Yiu and Captain Shoffer looked at the man who stared at them clueless.

Ezekiel had a gape on his face. He wondered what was happening with the four cherubins standing there while looking at each other without saying a thing, since per his perception no words had yet been said after they had reached the superior level of the ‘chariot’, at least nothing that the he could have perceived.

“So, is he coming with us?” Flumen sounded confused, looked at Ezekiel and then back at his Captain.

“We will keep him. He may be useful. Remember, it may not be as easy to convince others to be on our side as it was with him.”

“Sir, if I may recommend a BCI would facilitate the communication among us and allow me to properly monitor his vital functions.”

Chariot 3`s words were sensate. Installing a Brain Computer Interface into the man`s body would allow simultaneous translations among all their thoughts, facilitating the communication and turning him into a much more useful asset.

“Go ahead.” The Captain silently agreed with the ship`s suggestion.

“Wait! Now we must all be mindful of our thoughts. Remember that he will be able to listen and understand everything we say…or think.”

Flumen`s concern had a point. The man was many thousands of years behind the reality they had come from and anything they thought or did could drastically change the life and beliefs of him and many others after him, if not the entire race.

An almost imperceptible nozzle sound coming from the deckhead behind the man broke the silence. The micro implant went through his turban, hit the man`s skin and finally penetrated his skull.

The man felt a little sting, passed his hand behind his head under the turban without replaceing or feeling anything else.

Once Ezekiel lowered his hand, a nauseating sensation momentarily took over him.

The man shook his head and then blinked his eyes as his body assimilated the implant.

The instant after, everything just seemed clearer. The dark room they were at did not look as dark anymore.

The four beings that before appeared to be carrying on a conversation just by looking at each other, each producing a variety of expressions of what seemed to be surprise, concern, doubt, and perhaps even impatience had stopped. The one who seemed to be the leader finally faced Ezekiel and looked directly into his eyes, launching an assertive, and at the same time, comforting smile.

An unusual feeling dominated his soul. Ezekiel, son of a man recognized that he was there for a reason which he knew he was about to replace out soon.
