Chariot 3: Conception
Chapter 19 – The Grey Gods

“Only turn your back to the Urmah if the Anzu lies behind you.”

-Nibirian proverb.

Cai Yiu took a deep breath and placed the helmet on his head. As he activated the plasmatic visor, Captain Shoffer looked at him and wondered if he would need one of those as well.

In the meanwhile, the Grey spacecraft opened its ramp leaving nothing but a dark void within the hatch that was now being opened. As the ramp touched the earthly landscape, the shade of a being started to form as it moved out of the shadow.

“Hurry!” Said Shoffer as he and Cai Yiu fastened their pace in an attempt to meet the Grey at the bottom of his ship. Ezekiel voluntarily started to walk hoping to regroup with his gods halfway from there.

“Hold the man, he is mine!” Marcaya and Acari quickly grabbed Ezekiel`s arms and held him tight, following the orders given by the extraterrestrial voice.

The four feet tall being finally made himself visible followed by two other of same likeness.

As the one who seemed to be the leader reached the ground and stopped immediately in front of Cai Yiu and Shoffer, the other two behind him took the lead and stood ahead facing the Nibirian crew in a protective formation.

Not much information about the Greys was ever obtained by the Nibirians or even the Martians as the Greys never kept any trustful alliance with any other planet, probably because of the circumstances on which their race was conceived.

They Greys` true origin has been unbeknown for uncountable years, but what is heard is that there was a day when the Reptilians from the star of Zeta Reticulli managed to synthetize a slave species conceived with one unique objective: to serve them.

The mistreatments and poor conditions the Greys were upheld through time and the fact that their breeding was never perfected by the Reptilians – due to a deficiency or possibly an intended design in their genetic code – triggered them to die as if they were a disposable product with a painful and inevitable due date.

It did not take many more years of suffering to finally lead the Greys to rebel against their creators.

The Greys escaped to the most inhospitable places of the universe where they regrouped, breeding new brothers and searching for ways to not only replace a cure to prolong their life span but to achieve the immortality, and one day accomplish their ultimate goal, revenge against the Reptilians.

The beings that just landed inclined their heads to the right and then to the left, all at the same time, in a synchronized movement as they curiously analyzed Cai Yiu Hun and his Captain.

The same way, Cai Yiu observed how disproportional their thin and short bodies were in comparison to their large heads. He tried to hold up a laugh when thinking that all the fear they previously imposed was mostly gone at the moment they became visible.

Although at first sight the visitors did not seem to be wearing a body garment, as they came closer, Cai Yiu noticed that they also worn an uniform. It appeared to be made of a fine thin skin-like material – same shade of grey their skin was – perhaps to let their skin breathe or offer them a light mobility since it was unlikely that those fragile-looking bodies had any strength. “I hope they are easy to perforate.” It was all Cai Yiu could think of.

Captain Shon Shoffer measured them from top to bottom. The beings were absent of ears and, like the Nibirians, had no body hair, although it was most probably due a genetic nature.

Their body was small, thin build with long and skinny arms reaching their knees. Their long hands had a small palm and four claw-like fingers.

They did not seem to be carrying any weapons, however the Captain noticed a curiously disc shaped object being held by the left hand of each one of the creatures.

Cai Yiu Hun saw his reflection as he looked down into their large slanted eyes. They were black with vertical slit pupils, even creepier than the lenses the Nibirians had on.

Unsure of what his words would start, Captain Shoffer broke the intercultural silence trying to mediate the situation. “Greetings, I am Shon Shoffer, Captain of Chariot 3, and I come in a mission of peace under orders of the Nibirian Space Agency.”

“And I am…” The leader hesitated.

Sadly, the Greys were an alien race created to serve and as designed by their creators, they would never require or be entitled to a name. The simple capability of fully communicating through telepathy enabled them to identify each other with precise self-awareness to the point that their specie could always understand who they were referring to during every communication.

“…you would not comprehend. You are in our territory and therefore you and your crew now belong to us, the Greys. However, for your sake, we have no utility for you, therefore it leaves us with no alternative other than exterminating you and confiscating your ship.”

Captain Shoffer did not say a word. He rather pondered what his next step would be. It was rather evident that negotiation was far out of question.
