Cheers To Comeuppance -
Chapter 60( Part 3)
“YOU MUST HAVE A F*CKING DEATH WISH!” Leon roared in her face. Mrs. Galloway naturally reared in dread when he got within an inch of her face.
“Leon, we’re in a police station,” Royce whispered in his ear.
“Mr. Von Doren, please, we do not need to attract any unwanted attention,” Toby said softly. Leon’s resolve to kill Agatha Galloway immediately faltered, but only slightly.
“Come on, man. Anni wouldn’t want you to do this, even for her sake,” Royce said to him as his grasp on Leon’s shoulder tightened a bit. Hearing Annika’s name, Leon finally let his resolve go and dropped Agatha on the floor. It took her a minute to gasp for air and cough up her lungs.
“I can sue you for attempted murder, Leon!” she croaked as she rubbed her neck.
“With what money?” Royce spat on Leon’s behalf. Mrs. Galloway scowled at Royce.
“Let me tell you one thing, Agatha Galloway, or whoever the f**k you are. If anything happens to Annika or my baby, I will bury you alive.”
“Something already happened to my sister. This f*****g witch shot her, and now her life hangs in the balance, along with that of my niece or nephew. So why f*****g wait?” Royce said as he grabbed Agatha by the back of her head.
“AH!” she screamed as the pain of her hair being pulled by her scalp thundered through her body. “LET ME GO, YOU GANGSTER!”
“Gangster?” Royce looked at Leon, and they both laughed. Even Toby smirked at how hopeless Mrs. Galloway actually was. “I’m not a gangster, old lady. People call me a hitter, fixer, mechanic, whatever you want.”
“I don’t even know what you’re talking about!”
“Exactly. You’ve been living a life of solitude. You’re spoiled rotten to the core and have forgotten how scary the world can be. And my mother has given me the go-ahead to remind you,” he growled in her face.
“What does that mean!?”
“You’ll see,” Leon responded. “Toby!”
“Sir?”
“Go make the phone call to the P.C. tell him exactly what’s going on, and if he doesn’t want to play ball, threaten him with next year’s campaign funding.”
“Of course,” Toby replied. He left the interrogation room to make the call.
“What … What are you doing, Leon!? What do you think you’re doing!?” Mrs. Galloway cried when she realized something wasn’t up to par. “This is illegal! You can’t threaten me!”
“It seems that you’ve forgotten that you’re already in deep water, Agatha. I still haven’t even begun to bring up charges against you for the fraud you committed with your daughter against me, and now you cross me again, only this time, you’ve done even worse by going after the love of my life and my unborn child.”
“You deserved it! You all deserve to suffer the way Sadie and I have! We’ve lost everything because of you people!”
“Wrong, you stupid old b***h,” Royce snorted as he pulled on her hair harder, making her cry. “You’re where you are now because of your own life decisions. What happened to you, your w***e daughter, and that worthless piece of trash Hollands was all because of your life choices. All of you lived a life of lies, deceit, and manipulation. I like to call what happened to all of you a good dose of Karma. But instead of just taking it and living under a goddamn rock, you decided to shoot my baby sister. So, what’s about to happen to you now is something I like to call divine retribution.” No sooner than he finished his speech, Toby returned to the room.
“It’s done.”
“Bring her,” Leon commanded.
“Let’s go for a little ride, shall we?” Royce said as he pushed her forward.
“You can’t do this! There are police everywhere! They’ll stop you!” They saw no one at their stations as soon as the door opened. The entire bullpen of the precinct was empty. “Oh, well, would you look at that,” Royce mocked her when they saw that no one would stop them.
“Wh …Where…”
“No one is helping you,” Leon’s deep voice came from before her. “You let your complacency get the better of you.” Leon turned around and got in her face. “I own this city.” Agatha finally began to realize the error of her ways and started to tremble with pure fear.
“Le…Leon, please! Don’t. I’m sorry, okay. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it. I was just so angry. Don’t hurt me, please!” she begged as Royce pushed her toward the elevator. Her protests fell on deaf ears.
As they made it outside, that’s where they noticed all of the police had gone. Every single officer within the precinct was on a break. They were enjoying coffee and donuts, courtesy of Leon. So, when they saw what was happening right before their eyes, they all turned their backs. Of course, bribery was illegal, but understanding Leon’s power over the police and the city, they were told to stand down directly by the police commissioner. Who were they to meddle in the affairs of the rich and powerful?
“What are you all doing!? Can’t you see I’m being kidnapped! Help me!” Agatha pleaded, but all of the police ignored her. Agatha was aghast at their blatant disregard for her pleas. She was so enraged that she began to curse them. But even still, no one paid her any attention.
The men made their way to Leon’s car. Leon got in the back seat, which Royce had also forced Agatha into.
“Toby, you know where to go.”
“Yes, Mr. Von Doren.”
“You can’t do this to me, Leon! We were family! I was your mother-in-law!”
“You were never my family,” Leon spat, disdainful for the woman. Agatha continues to scream and shout, hoping anyone can hear their cries and attempt to stop her abduction. But to her dismay, no one did anything. “Royce, shut her up.”
“With pleasure.” Royce had zero qualms about striking Agatha in the back of the head, rendering her unconscious. “Finally,” Royce sputtered and adjusted himself in the car. “So, where are we going to kill her?”
“We’re not.”
“What? Why!?” Royce was stunned.
“Doc would never want us to kill anyone for her. You know that better than I do.”
“Uh, I think Baby Bear would make an exception this time. This b***h tried to kill her and may have very well killed her baby! Your baby!”
“I get that. But I know the Doc. She knows what you and I are capable of. She would never allow that to happen for her sake. Whom we do business with is none of her concern as long as she’s not directly involved in it. Your family has kept her hands clean of bloodshed. Killing that piece of s**t now would undo all your family’s hard work to protect the Doc from this life.” Royce nodded in understanding. The men sat silently for a moment before Royce looked at Leon.
“Does Baby Bear know?” he asked.
“Know what?”
“That you’ve dabbled in my line of work?”
“No. But she’s not stupid, either. She understands the power I hold over this city, regardless of what my background says. She knows you don’t get to where I am in power and wealth without doing unscrupulous business with unfavorable people. I’m just afraid that she’s not completely okay with it. She’s still hesitant to move in with me. It’s why I’ve been staying at the penthouse instead.”
“Oh, that? Nah, man, she’s just waiting until we’re all gone,” Royce said with a chuckle.
“What?”
“Dude, Baby Bear hates that we’re invading her private life right now. She doesn’t want to go your place, which will be ya’ll news home together with all of us still in her hair.”
“Is that true?”
“Yeah. She has always been the private type, even as a kid. Once she was able to figure out that her door could lock, she always locked it. But, since Mama and Pops had the master key, they would always go in and annoy her. We would too.” They both snickered. “So, when she started to get an allowance from pops, she went out and bought a new lock for her door.”
“But would your dad just be able to have it removed?”
“Yeah, you’d think right. That’d be the case if were a simple lock, but no. This crazy little girl had to go and purchase a digital lock. One that required a ten-digit passcode and her fingerprint.”
“What? How old was she when she bought it?”
“She was twelve, I think? Anyway, it was hilarious. Mama and Pops decided they would leave her alone if she really wanted her privacy. They knew it was because she wanted to study in peace. Baby Bear was always a bookworm, and she always liked to be in her own little world. You could only get out of that room for family game night, school, and meal times.”
“She hasn’t really changed then, huh?” Leon asked with a slight smile.
“No, she hasn’t. So, don’t worry too much. Once everything is over and done with, and we’re all gone, you two will be playing house together before you know it.” Leon smiled at the notion and nodded his head. “So, where are we taking this load if we’re not killing her?”
“Somewhere, she can never replace her way back home.”
“Cool.” Royce put his hands behind his head and leaned leisurely as they traveled. Toby drove to the airport where Leon’s private jet was waiting. When Royce saw what was going on, he just nodded in understanding. Neither Leon nor Royce had to exit the vehicle. Toby handled everything, and two men dressed in black retrieved Mrs. Galloway from the backseat. Toby handed the men an envelope and returned to the car. Without any further instructions, Toby drove away, leaving the other men to their jobs. He drove Leon and Royce back to the hospital, where they awaited news on Annika and her baby.
