Thalyssa

I spent the entire meeting trying to shield my mind from Gerald, I had never done that before, and our connection was so great and so incredible that I was already used to never being alone, it was always his mind together with mine, and now It felt so alone, so lonely.

The meeting was about our ceremony and the Moon Ball, our ceremony was in a few days, and the Moon Ball the following week.

At the end of the meeting I just wanted to run to Ellie, I wanted to talk to her, I wanted to understand exactly what had happened, I got up and saw Gerald getting up behind me, but I just didn't want to talk to him, not now.

Callie called him, and he had to stop to answer her, I followed without looking back and went straight to Ellie's room, when I opened the door I found her and Jaque sitting on the bed talking. Jaque was still down, but she was recovering.

"Jaque dear, are you better?"

"Yes, Luna Thalyssa." She answered me and I hugged her and kissed her cheek.

"Would you excuse me for a minute? I'd like to talk to Ellie." I asked and she got up and left.

"Of course, we'll talk later, Ellie." Jaque left and closed the door behind her.

"Ellie," I said and I already saw my daughter's eyes fill with tears. "Tell me what happened..."

I sat on the edge of the bed and Ellie lay with her head in my lap.

"The version you might know or Dad might know?" Her question gave me chills, I didn't hide anything from Gerald, but today I had closed my mind to him.

"Since the argument I've been alone in here." I said pointing to my head.

Ellie sighed deeply, before starting to speak.

"I met a human when I was out with the girls that day, and I ended up drinking too much, he helped me get to the car and we ended up kissing, the next day I found out he was the lawyer who was watching the reservation negotiation and ..."

When I heard that my heart skipped a beat and I almost jumped out of my seat.

"Wait, Harrison's son?" I asked and Ellie just nodded, I had so many questions but I thought she'd better finish talking.

"He invited me to go out at night, I said I could only go out with the girls, he got the tickets and they were really going with me, but Jaque got sick and Clair arranged a date, and I liked him too much not to go, so I lied..." Ellie's words made me increasingly apprehensive. "But I only did it because I knew Dad wouldn't let me go out alone, and I really wanted to see Louis, he's amazing, and we had dinner and then slept together..."

I talked about these topics with Ellie, and I was happy that my daughter had the freedom to talk to me about it, but at that moment I didn't know what to say.

"But I know he's a human, and he can't be my mate, but why can't I see him? Dad freaked out for no reason, I wanted to wait for my mate, but it seems like that hope never comes. And Louis It's special to me, I like him..."

I ran my hand through her hair and my brain went to the night I met Oliver, the Oliver I imagined in my head and under the effect of the spell...

I thought it could work, just like Ellie thought now.

But before I could say anything.

"Knock knock." His deep voice was at the door and in my head. Gerald knocked on the door and opened it slightly, peeking inside. "I wanted to talk to you..."

"Gerald, this is not a good time." I started to say and Ellie got up from my lap, sitting down and pushing herself further away from him and crossing her arms, making a barrier between them.

"I came in peace, in fact I came to apologize." Gerald entered, and with every step he took closer it was harder to keep the thoughts out of my mind, and when he was right in front of me, his smell was too strong, my body asked for his contact, and his thoughts flooded me with suddenly.

"I should never have talked to you like that, to you two like that." He turned to Ellie and I saw her slowly uncross her arms. Gerald now knelt in front of me, with me sitting on the bed our faces were at the same height. "Do you know how difficult the beginning of your pregnancy with Ellie was, and how humans threatened you both..."

"Hunters, dear, were no ordinary humans." I tried to fix it.

"But they were humans," Now he looked at Ellie, and looked back at me, "I still have nightmares about the scene of you with the silver cut, and I imagined I lost you both." Gerald sighed loudly, and I saw through our connection the scene he was saying, and the deep pain inside his chest. In the scene I was lying on the floor, Oliver was lying on the sofa next to me, and there was blood everywhere, he had never let me see it, and seeing it from his perspective, with his feeling, was simply desperate. "Today I was afraid that the exact same thing would happen, I thought a human took her from me." Now I saw a tear run down Gerald's cheeks, I felt Ellie shift on the bed and slowly approach.

"Dad," She called and Gerald slowly lifted his face until he was looking at her. "I am fine." She said reaching out her hand to reach his face, Gerald rubbed his face against her hand.

They were always so supportive of each other, such partners, it hurts me to see them fighting.

"We didn't tell you the whole story, Ellie..." I started to say and inside my head Gerald asked me: Honey, is this a good idea? I turned to him to respond. "She may already know the truth." Now I faced my daughter who looked at me with a big question. "Ellie, we only told you half the story, you know my story with your father wasn't easy at the beginning, he had the prophecy and he rejected me to protect me, and while I tried to survive without a mate I ended up getting involved with a human, you know that part, but it turns out he was a hunter, and he was dating me just to get my blood and my scent, it was a trap, and finally he..." I stared at Gerald before continuing. "He stabbed me with a silver dagger while I was pregnant with you."

Ellie now opened her eyes wide and leaned her body back, she let out a gasp of astonishment and I felt her goosebumps.

"Luckily Wizard Clarck had spoken about the power of the mark, and I marked your mother then, saving you both, but you have no idea how much despair I felt, thinking I would lose you..."

"Finally the prophecy was about me saving you, I killed the hunter, who I loved while under a spell, to save you, before he stuck the dagger in my belly." I saw Ellie squirm..., and it was like something in her head started to come together.

"That's why you're so afraid of humans, and that's why your despair..." She said looking at Gerald.

"That's why I completely lost control when I didn't hear from you this morning, and that's why I didn't want you dating a human...I'm afraid he's just using you, and I'm afraid that will happen the same thing that happened to your mother"

"Dad..."

"Ellie... Please, at least until the Ball. You can replace your mate in two weeks. What will it be like?"

Ellie looked down, he hit her weak spot.

"Only until the Ball, don't leave the Pack, it's two weeks, if you don't replace your mate we'll talk again, okay?"

She didn't quite agree, and it took a few seconds for her to nod her head.

"There's a mate out there waiting for you, daughter, and I speak with the authority of someone who has been bewitched to make a human seem like their companion and yet it wasn't the same. Nothing compares to your companion."

I felt her deflate, but Ellie understood. I just wanted it to be easy for her, I just wanted Ellie to be happy, and being in a relationship with a human who doesn't understand the mate bond we have would only make everything even more difficult.
