Daddy's Little Whore
Daddy’s Little Whore – Part 116

CLINT’s POV

I walked into the meeting room, the sound of my footsteps echoing against the polished floor. The room was spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows on one side that offered a breathtaking view of the city skyline. The walls were painted a muted shade of blue, and the large oval table in the centre of the room was surrounded by plush leather chairs.

Kane was already seated at the head of the table, along with several other investors. I took my seat next to Kane and waited for the meeting to begin. After a few minutes of small talk, Kane cleared his throat and called the meeting to order.

“I have called you all here today because I have an important announcement to make,” Kane began, his voice commanding attention. “As you all know, I am not getting any younger, and it is time for me to start thinking about my successor.”

The room fell silent as everyone leaned forward, eager to hear who Kane had chosen to take over his empire.

“I am proud to announce that my daughter, Keira, will be taking over as CEO of this company,” Kane declared, a note of pride in his voice.

The room buzzed with life. Sure enough, the other investors were quick to voice their objections. One of the investors spoke up, his voice tinged with skepticism.

“What about your son, Kane? Why is he not taking over the company?”

“Yes, you have a son, don’t you? Why would you choose your daughter instead?”

Mr. Woodridge, in particular, was the most vocal. He raised his hands up in the air and stood up to his feet. I gazed at the old man, who had jet black eyes that seemed void of any life.

“With all due respect, Kane, Keira may be your daughter, but she has no experience running a company. Why not choose someone with a proven track record?”

Kane remained calm but firm. “My decision is final. Keira has been training for this role for years, and I have full confidence in her abilities.”

“Full confidence?” Mr Woodridge scoffed. “Confidence is not enough to run a multi millionaire company sir.”

Kane’s eyes had grown cold and I did not miss the way his jaw ticked from gritting his teeth. I could imagine how he was feeling, and how much courage it took to announce this, knowing fully well that most of the investors will not agree to it.

“My daughter is in one of the best schools, attending a business course. She is being groomed for this role and there is no doubt that she will handle the company, just like I did.”

Mr Woodridge did not seem convinced. He had a frown on his face. No, it was more of a scowl. His whole demeanour made me feel uneasy.

Mr Woodridge was one of the investors I could not feel comfortable with. He had an aura that gave chills. Something about him seemed cunning, but I could not put a finger on it.

“If anyone else has some more objections, then you can save it, because I will not indulge in it,” Kane said firmly.

“How about we do this sir? How about we meet with this daughter of yours. Most of us are still skeptical about her. We would like to see who is going to run this company soon. What do you think?”

Kane went quiet for a while, his fingers drumming the glass table. He exhaled and spoke after a few seconds of stifling silence.

“That is a good idea. I will hold a meeting and introduce my daughter to all of you. It is only right that you get to meet the next CEO.”

I gaped at Kane. I had not expected him to make this decision. Why was he doing this? To satiate these investors? I clenched my fist. I knew very well how this would go. These old men would be sizing Keira up and most likely degrade her.

Kane talked for a bit, and adjourned the meeting after a few more minutes.

I stepped out of the conference room, feeling a sense of relief that the meeting was finally over and I could finally leave the stuffy room. As I made my way down the hallway, I heard a group of voices up ahead. It was Mr. Woodridge, in the midst of other investors who had attended the meeting.

I paused for a moment, wondering if I should greet them out of courtesy, but then I heard Mr. Woodridge’s voice rise above the others.

“I do not like this, not one bit,” he said, a snarl on his face. “Kane’s daughter has no experience running a company of this size. How can we trust her to make the right decisions?”

I hesitated for a moment, but then something compelled me to continue down the hallway. I crept quietly towards the group.

Another investor chimed in, his voice equally disdainful. “I agree. Kane’s son should be taking over. From the talk we had with him, I could tell that he is more competent to run this company.”

My heart stopped. Calvin was meeting with the investors. It made sense. He was trying to win them over, a very good tactic if he wanted an easy route to take over the company.

“That son of a bitch,” I muttered.

I could not help but feel a sense of frustration at their words. Keira was the only one worthy of the CEO title, and she had the skills and knowledge to lead the company successfully.

But as I listened to the investors’ conversation, I realized that they were not going to be swayed by my opinions or anyone else’s. They were set in their belief, and they were not going to change their minds easily. It made me wonder how Calvin had managed to convince them so well. Did he bribe them?

With a sigh, I walked past them and continued down the hallway. As I advance, I thought about how hard things would get for Keira. From my predictions, there would be a faction in the company. One supporting Keira, and one supporting Calvin.

I grimaced inwardly as I thought about how hard things would get for Keira from here on. What could I do to help her?
