Daddy's Little Whore -
Daddy’s Little Whore – Part 71
KEIRA’s POV
There was no mistaking it. I was absolutely positive about it. Natasha had feelings for Brandon. And not just feelings of friendship, but something deeper, a romantic feeling for him.
I stood, frozen, as I pieced the puzzle in my mind. How had I not noticed it all this while? Natasha had been so good at hiding it. They always argued and hardly got along, except when they insisted I got a therapist for my condition.
But it was not hard to miss. That weird look on her face whenever I mentioned Brendon, the wistful look in her eyes at his departure. She was feeling way more sad than I was about this.
And the moment that took the cake was when Brendon touched my hair, I could see the way Natasha went grim immediately. I scoffed to myself. How had I been so dense and oblivious to something that was as plain as day?
I looked back, my eyes searching for Brendon, only to replace he was gone. I breathed a sigh of relief, but my new discovery still lingered in my mind.
“Hey! Keira! Why are you just standing there and staring into space? Let us go!” Natasha yelled from the entrance of the airport.
I gathered myself and my thoughts and walked over to my car. Natasha slipped into the car, and so did I. I started it up and drove down the road.
An awkward silence filled the whole car. Maybe it was just me, or maybe Natasha could feel it too. I drove down the road slowly and made a turn into the next street. I would occasionally steal glances at her as my uneasiness grew.
Natasha had her back to me and her face to the window. What was going on in her head right now? I wanted to know how she was feeling.
After a few moments of internal deliberating, I decided to speak up.
“Hey, Natasha,” I spoke up, breaking the heavy silence that had shrouded us.
She turned to me, her eyes hollow and void of any emotions.
I glanced at her and exhaled.
“What’s up with you? You have been down ever since we saw Brendon off at the airport.”
Natasha fell silent, ignoring me like I had not just asked her a question.
“Are you… feeling alright?”
Natasha shrugged and replied. “Yeah, I am.”
Silence fell in the car again, and I grimaced inwardly. I was beating around the bush because I wanted to be extra cautious and see how she would react to it, but this was not going to work anymore.
“You like Brendon, don’t you?” I blurted out the question without any hint of hesitation.
I came to a stop at a red light, and my gaze switched to her immediately. She was gazing at me, cheek flushed and eyes as wide as saucers. This was all the proof I needed.
Natasha, however, regained her composure and waved her hands in the air in a dismissive manner.
“Like Brandon? Of course, I like Brendon. He is my friend. You like him too, don’t you?”
I gazed at her firmly as I spoke. “You know I do not mean it like that. I am talking about romantic feelings, Natasha.”
“W-What nonsense are you going on about? Are you saying I have romantic feelings for Brandon?” She scoffed and shook her head.
I sighed. She was trying to put up an act, and it was so obvious. But she could not hide the pink stain on her cheeks. That gave her away immediately.
“Yes, you love him, I know it. I can see it.”
“You are way in over your head Keira. This has to be the most ridiculous thing you have ever come up with. What would even make you come up with such a dumbfounding conclusion?”
The traffic light turned green, and my attention was on the road once again.
“Because I have seen signs. I was oblivious to them at first, but now it is as clear as day.”
“What are you going on about?” She asked, and I could sense that she was getting defensive, but I turned a blind eye to it and pressed on.
“I noticed how you got all sad when Brendon gave me all the attention and none to you.”
There was a long pause, and I looked at Natasha. She looked visibly shaken, and I began to regret my decision to confront her on this slightly, but I knew it needed to be done. We needed to clear this up as soon as possible.
Natasha switched her gaze back to the window and spoke. “It is all in your head. You are imagining things. I do not have feelings for Brendon.”
There was a firmness in her voice like she was telling me to drop the whole topic, but I was not about to let it go now.
“You can’t hide it from me, Natasha, I know you have feelings for him, and I see no reason to hide this. You can-“
“I said I do not have any feelings for him, so can you just drop it!’ Natasha yelled.
I jolted back in surprise and almost let go of the wheel. The fact that she was adamant about me dropping the subject was making it even more obvious the feelings that she was trying so hard to deny.
The rest of the drive was quiet, and I did not bother to raise any more questions so as not to anger her even further. Natasha did not speak to me, nor did she even spare me as much as a glance.
I came to a stop in front of our apartment building, and Natasha reached for the door. I felt like things could not end this way. I grabbed a hold of her hand before she could slip out of the car.
She looked at me, her eyebrows furrowed, and we held eye contact for a very long time.
“You know that I have no interest in Brendon, right? I am in love with someone else, so you have nothing to worry yourself about.”
Natasha gave me a small smile and slipped out of the car. I watched her walk into her house until she disappeared inside. I let out a sigh and started my car
I drove down the street and disappeared down the highway.
