AN UNPLEASANT CONVERSATION

We’re back! – Margaret announces that she is entering the kitchen, Occisor is standing there preparing his dinner. Rare pork with onions.

Welcome – Occisor greets and Margareth gives him a k**s on the cheek, shortly after sitting down at the table.

How was your holiday?

Wonderful,” he replies, smiling.

I imagine so. How many were killed?

Unfortunately, only seven.

And Mari?

Fourteen – she rolls her eyes – she always gets the best part! I only killed them because they were blocking the road! The action is always hers: she folds her arms and beeps, like a spoiled child.

Occisor’s laughter fills the entire kitchen, even after five years, Margaret is not content with the kills she has already achieved. The part of the rescue she hates most is the part that is always left for her.

Occisor is dressed only in a long-sleeved T-shirt and cotton trousers, his feet bare and his hair in its usual half-up bun.

Margaret has already changed her clothes and is now wearing a tight-fitting dress and Mari, with light fabric trousers and a frilly blouse.

Occisor and Margareth no longer share a room, they each have their privacy, and Margareth takes advantage of their privacy to sleep with the human males. Always use condoms, so as not to get pregnant. Derick, her former love, was relocated to another base, far from the one where he dies, but he made it clear to her beforehand that he would never associate with a corpse.

We’re just in time,” says Mari as she opens the fridge and grabs the b***d bags.

Yes – Occisor puts his meat on the plate and sits down at the table.

And your walk, how was it? – Margaret asks Occisor and Mari sits down at the table and joins them.

It was pretty monotonous, it only lasted two tortures.

And did you get any answers? – Mari asks and takes her first sip of b***d.

The rescue lasted three days, and both she and Margaret haven’t eaten for three days. Ocisor too, the three days in London he didn’t eat anything.

Yes. They do this to stop the witches from performing the rituals. They said, it became difficult to defend against the three races at the same time and the genuine one of them doesn’t want to go to war. For now, so he summoned one of them.

Did they say why? – Margareth asks curiously.

The genuine one had a female offspring.

What do you mean? – Margareth doesn’t believe her ears.

So it’s true.

Did you already know that? – Occisor looks at Mari with a raised eyebrow.

I’ve heard rumours, but the territory of the genuine ones is very dangerous. I only saw a scruffy girl once, but I didn’t imagine it was the genu’s own daughter.

And how long ago was that? – asked Margaret.

About seven years – she shrugs.

She must be an adult by now.

Probably,” she replies and takes another sip, “I wonder what the goddess is thinking? – she murmurs, but everyone can hear her.

Since when did you start believing in her?

Since I started raising a lycanthrope pup.

The answer silenced Occisor and Margareth. Occisor doesn’t like to be reminded that, like it or not, he is part of that race. And so he has not transformed again, the only supernatural powers he uses are millennial life, brute strength, long-distance vision and that he improves at night.

I wonder if…

Occisor hasn’t stopped eating, but he is attentive to Mari’s words, his eyes fixed on the b***d inside the glass.

I hope to meet her companion soon e….

I said I’ll kill her,” he says in a thick voice.

You can’t do that,” Mari starts looking at Occisor.

And why not? She is no different from them, she will surely reject him and wish him dead like all the others. – Margaret whispers.

You can’t condemn everyone like that, Margaret,” Mari replies.

And when have you ever seen anyone different? They’re all cruel, they’re all evil, they’re all big stinking shit.

Occisor is not like them!

He grew up with us, she’ll grow up with them!

His mother is not…

She only went against to save her baby’s life, that doesn’t make her any different!

Rubi her…

A suicide, who wanted to be seen as a mediocre heroine – she retorts wanting to put her point of view as the correct one.

Enough of this! – Occisor speaks for himself silencing the two of them, they look at him with wide eyes… he takes a deep breath and controls himself not to shout even more. Occisor knows the hatred Margaret feels, but he can’t bear for her to talk like this about the women who gave their lives to save him.

Margaret – he speaks more softly, and now looking her in the eyes – You have no right to talk about my mother like that, I understand what you feel and I expect you to do for me what I do for you!

What are you talking about?

I’m disgusted by humans, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to talk to you like that. I’m holding back as much as I can so I don’t hurt you. And you know my mother and aunt are important to me. I don’t care how much you insult the rest, but never, I mean it Margaret, never touch their names to offend them or I won’t vouch for me.

Margaret’s lips twitched, Occisor when he was younger, always made it clear what he thought of the human race, but he stopped, he no longer complained or argued, no matter if human or supernatural, service was ordered, and so it was done. And he also knew that in a fight, Occisor always got the better of her.

You’re right, I’m sorry, for what I said, I’m sorry,” she asks and feels her eyes burning, Margaret hates feeling bad and having to complain.

And Mari, I know you only want the best for me. I also know about the punishment of the first lycanthrope for treating his mate badly. But at this point in my life, I couldn’t care less. Like Margaret said, I’m sure it’s no different than them.

But…

And she probably doesn’t even exist, have you ever stopped to think about that? If it’s the goddess who manages destiny, what would she do for a reject? Surely, there is none destined for me, I’m just an outcast.

And that’s the end of the conversation. Everyone goes back to eating in silence. A heavy silence, this conversation was not pleasant at all. Mari, over the years, has tried to change Occisor’s mind, she wants to see him happy and with less resentment. And a partner could be his salvation. But just as she failed with Margaret, she is also seeing herself fail with Occisor.

Occisor’s case is more complicated, mainly because they work for the government. And, most likely, they would not accept a female. Unless, of course, Occisor refused to obey them. But the way things are going, it will be Occisor himself who will be ordered to assassinate his partner.

“I know you are nothing to my kind, but all I ask is that you look after Occisor. I hope Esmeralda is right, that he really has been chosen for something great. Because, all I can see is someone who wants the end of all of his kind, even the end of his own mate” – Mari speaks to the goddess Selene in thought.

The red-eyed vampire doesn’t know it, but the goddess is listening to her very well. And that, the destinies of her chosen ones are about to cross.
