Chapter 92: Celebration

1/4

The servants overheard Chloe and Michael’s argument. Seeing they were talking about divorce again, one of the servants hesitated for a moment, then stepped forward to talk to her.

“Mrs. Shawn, Mr. Shawn was just angry. He said those things in the heat of the moment. After a good night’s sleep, he’ll cool down and won’t mention divorce again tomorrow.”

Chloe gave a wry smile and asked, “Do you really think this marriage is worth saving?”

The servant froze, lips twitching, but not a word escaped.

In less than half an hour, Michael whipped up a new agreement.

He went downstairs and handed the agreement to Chloe.

Without a second thought, Chloe grabbed the pen and signed her name.

“Why don’t you read it carefully? Aren’t you afraid I’ll take advantage of you?”

“No need. I trust you. You wouldn’t scam me for such a small amount.”

She signed the divorce papers, her eyes misting up as she stared at the two names on the page.

To keep him from seeing her tears, she rushed upstairs to her bedroom and locked the door behind her.

Outside, the sound of a car engine roared to life.

The headlights drew closer, then faded into the distance.

Chloe sat on her bed, feeling a bit down.

She knew he was off to see Lucy.

They had just signed the divorce papers, and he couldn’t wait to get out of the mansion.

Chloe stared at the ceiling, letting out a heavy sigh.

She figured their divorce was for the best. This time, he seemed truly determined, no more back and forth.

After all that tension, it’s finally time for her to chill.

Unable to sleep, Chloe fired up her laptop and launched a bunch of programs.

An hour later, she sent the completed system to Candy.

It was already super late, but Candy replied instantly.

Wow! That was super fast. Your efficiency is off the charts!

Chloc’s fingers danced over the keyboard.

When God closes a window, He’s gotta open a door, right? No. way I’m striking out in both love and work.

After she sent the message, Candy stayed silent for a while. before finally replying.

[You nailed the divorce?]

“Yeah, tomorrow we’re heading to the county court to file for divorce.”

Candy sent a shocked emoji.

Chloe was totally stunned, feeling like she was dreaming.

Just yesterday, she was wondering how much longer this drawn–out battle with Michael would last.

To everyone’s surprise, it all ended today.

Well then, she kinda felt like thanking Lucy.

Since you’re about to be single again, why not come out and celebrate with us?

Chloe read the message and instantly got what Candy meant.

[Wait for me!]

She grabbed her suitcase and headed downstairs.

The servant glanced at the suitcase in her hand and instantly understood what was going on.

“Mrs. Shawn, it’s really late now. Can you leave tomorrow instead?”

She figured if Chloe stayed tonight, there might still be a chance to turn things around when Michael came back later.

If she could get Chloe to stay, maybe they wouldn’t end up divorced.
