Chapter 11: Sinister

Intentions

A loud smack hit Jillian’s

face.

Jillian was totally caught off guard when Lexie landed that hit, and her smugness turned into pure disbelief and anger. “You, you son of a bitch! How dare you hit me?”

“Why wouldn’t I dare? Who do you think you are?”

In the next moment, Lexie

suddenly gripped Jillian’s

throat and forcefully pressed

her head towards the

window.

Jillian’s feet dangled, the upper half of her b*dy leaning out of the window.

The fifteen-story height made her scalp tingle, pupils trembling. Even her cries for help carried involuntary

tremors, “Help! HELP—”

“Jillian, I used to ignore what you did, but do you seriously

think I’m someone you can push around?” Lexie said in a laid-back tone, “If you can’t

control your words, I might

have to do it for you

permanently.”

With that, she increased the

pressure on Jillian’s neck.

“Okay, okay! I messed up,

won’t repeat it, promise…”

pleaded Jillian in a shaky

voice. She’s completely

freaked out.

The intense scene attracted a

crowd, someone even pulled

out their phones to record

videos.

Taking a quick look at the

onlookers, Lexie relaxed her

hold a bit. She was on the

brink of stepping back into the Koch family and running things. Revenge on Jillian

could wait; it wasn’t the right

time.

“Just so you know, this is

your warning!” Lexie scoffed

and quickly pulled Jillian

back inside through the

window.

Jillian’s feet touched the ground, and with the feeling of solid ground beneath her, the metaphorical weight lifted. She hurriedly got up and fled, warning Lexie, “Lexie, just wait! The Wallace

family won’t let you off!”

Lexie raised an eyebrow, the cold, triumphant smile on

her face making her look

even more striking, “Bring it

on!”

She had no ties left with the

Wallace family, and she

cared no one in that

shithole.

If the Wallace family messed with her, she’s totally cool

with sending them back to

where they’re from.

As Lexie returned to her room, Jillian’s parting words

echoed in her ears, ‘Don’t

think I don’t know why you

disappeared for no reason at

that night. My brother told

me everything!”

She never knew promises

could be so cheap.

Or that the man she

genuinely loved never

believed her.

But had Callum forgotten why she was kidnapped?

How could he reveal her

scars without a shred of guilt

and remorse?

Remembering that dark

alley night sent shivers down Lexie’s spine. It’s as if her heart broke a bit, letting in

this freezing cold that just

won’t go away.

“Knock! Knock!” The

knocking on the door

snapped Lexie back to

reality.

She turned and saw Grayson

standing at the door.

The panic on her face

quickly vanished, replaced

by a hint of surprise.

Never did she expect to meet

him again so soon, and each

time seemed to be at her

most disheveled moments.

“What… are you doing here?”

Lexie asked.

Grayson, looking sharp in his handmade suit, walked

up to Lexie.

The golden sunlight made him appear almost ethereal.

His gaze focused on Lexie’s face, noticing the dampness in the corners of her eyes,

and his brows furrowed.
