Sean was on edge, and Quintessa felt nauseated just looking at him.
"You know, in one way, I'm a lot like you-equally despicable and shameless. I've told you before that I won't spare any of you. What about dad? When it's your turn, I'll make sure you end up just as miserably dead as mom."
Quintessa stood up, "I'm not interested in whatever you came here for today, and I'm certainly not helping you. Get out, now, before I lose my patience."
Seeing her about to leave, Sean blurted out in desperation, "You think I don't have any evidence against you and Yolanda scheming together? You've left me penniless. I'm only sparing you from the cops because you're my daughter. Don't push your luck."
Quintessa scoffed, "Then go ahead, hand it over to the cops. It's not like it's your first time trying to have me arrested."
"We could make a deal. You help me out, and I'd give you the evidence."
"Not interested..."
"What if I told you Rachel is planning to take you down? Wouldn't you want to know about that?"
Quintessa slowly turned back around, "I'm listening."
"That witch Yolanda ran off with all my company's money. The Business Bureau's about to audit us, and I..."
Quintessa interrupted him, "How much do you need?"
"One... one hundred million."
"I can't believe your incompetence. A whole hundred million in the red? Yolanda could've taken, at most, 4 million. Sean, you're full of surprises."
Desperate, Sean had turned to Quintessa as a last resort. With such a sum, only Tyrone could possibly help on such short notice. "I know you and Mr. Tyrone York are close. This amount is nothing to him. Let me tell you what Rachel is planning against you."
Quintessa was unimpressed, "A
el?
hundred million; this is all you bring to the fable? You're seriously underestimating the situation if you think that's enough to persuade me."
"What else do you want? I'm at my wit's end here. You're my only hope."
Quintessa's gaze sharpened, "Helping you isn't out of the question, but you'll have to agree to a few conditions first."
"Anything, just say it..."
Quintessa smacked a mosquito
dead and said, "Your sister Miranda, she's been acting out lately, trashing the place and screaming her head off. Asher sister, I'm concerned. She needs professional help. How about Emberbrook Mental Institution? I hear it's nice this time of year."
"Quintessa, she's your sister...after all."
"Not willing to do it? Then there's no deal." Quintessa turned to leave.
Through gritted teeth, Sean agreed, "Fine, I'll do it."
Quintessa smirked. That was Sean for you, always ready to sacrifice anyone, even his own daughter, as long as he got what he wanted. Quintessa raised another finger, "I hear Lilian's about to be released."
"What are you suggesting?"
Quintessa calmly stated, "If the
Business Bureau replaces out you've embezzled a hundred million and can't pay it back, you're looking at at least 20 years behind bars. At your age, you'd be lucky to leave as anything but ashes."
"What do you want?"
Quintessa smiled sweetly, "A life for a life. If you want to survive, just use Lilian's life to bargain for yours."
