Serena's cheeks turned red, "Mom."

Alexander felt somewhat helpless. More than loving his daughter, his mother seemed to be trying to fulfill her own unachieved dreams through her.

Images of Quintessa filled Alexander's mind. He had been trying to drown himself in work these past few days, numbing his feelings to forget her. He thought it had been effective, but seeing Quintessa today made all his efforts seem in vain.

He couldn't forget her; he was still in love with her!

The car stopped at the doorway of the house.

Alexander said, "Mom, Serena, you go ahead inside. I'm heading back to the office."

Serena pouted, "Brother, you work too hard. I haven't seen you for days. Now that we're at the doorstep; go in and rest a while before you leave."

Alexander ruffled her hair, "I'll be better in a few days. Go inside."

After Alexander left, the mother and daughter entered the house.

Once inside, Serena bit her lip, "Mom, don't you think when brother walked in today, he wasn't looking at Ty but at Quinn?"

Mrs. Harrington handed her purse to the maid and elegantly adjusted her hair, "Serena, you are the daughter of the Harrington family, a lady of high status. Some people are just not worth considering as equals."

Serena blinked, cautiously asking, "Mom are you talking about Quinn?"

Mrs. Harrington gently patted her hand, "My dear, don't be so naive with everyone. You have cousins; you're not lacking in sisters."

Serena looked troubled, "But she... Okay, I understand. But mom, about what I just mentioned, what do you think?"

It was clear even to Serena, so of course, Mrs. Harrington noticed.

She smiled faintly, "So what if he was looking at her?"

"Mom, how can you be so calm? Why would brother look at her? His gaze were weird."

"My silly girl, remember what I just

said. Don't waste your attention on a nobody. She eventually be discarded by Tyrone, like a piece of clothing that after being worn for a couple of days is thrown away. The discarded things are trash, not worth picking up. Her only fortune is her good-looking face, which might stir some feelings in young men, but it's nothing."

"But what if brother likes her? She's currently dating Ty, right?"

"Dating? Serena, you're too innocent. Do you really believe what Mrs. York said? With Quintessa's background, how could the York family ever accept her? Let her try to marry into the family. The noble lineage of such families would never tolerate her kind."

"But she said..."

"At first, I thought it might be true. But now, I understand. She's just trying to provoke me. A mere actress, and they're comparing her to you, Nydia, treating her like a treasure. After all these years, Mrs. York's lack of discernment hasn't changed."

Serena asked in a low voice, "Mom, why are you and Mrs. York like this? Is there some misunderstanding or grievance? Weren't we all getting along just fine before?" Mrs. Harrington laughed, "It's not about grievances, dear. I just enjoy seeing her not doing well."
