Miranda struggled to sit up, "Where am I? I don't want to be here. Dad."

A doctor spoke up, "The patient's emotional state is too erratic. To prevent her from hurting herself or others, give her an injection of a sedative."

Soon, several nurses held Miranda down and injected a sedative into her neck.

Miranda's eyelids grew heavier, and the scene before her eyes began to shake. Before losing consciousness, she vaguely saw Sean and struggled to say, "Dad, where is here."

A flicker of pain crossed Sean's eyes.

"Don't blame Dad, and don't hate me. If you're going to hate someone, hate Quintessa. She forced me into this. If you get out, seek her out for revenge."

On the way back to the York family, Quintessa couldn't help but ask, "Why are you so kind to me?"

Mrs. York shifted uncomfortably, "Well, it was me who told Ty to bring you over. If you got bullied, it would reflect badly on me. Besides, if it had been anyone else, I might not have cared. But that woman was Susan Harrington. If I let her bully you, then I'd never hear the end of it from my son."

Tyrone chuckled, "Mom, am I really like that?"

"Are you not?"

"I guess before you always just tolerated Mrs. Harrington. Now that it's come to this, what are we going to do in the future?"

Mrs. York shrugged, "It'll be the

same as always. She wouldn't dare truly cross me. She always bragged about how perfect her life was in front of me. How beautiful and well-behaved her daughter is, how her son is a young genius, and how deeply in love she and her husband are But in reality, she's just putting on a facade. Her husband has done everything but bring an illegitimate child into the world. She likes to feel superior, so I let her. After all, sometimes what she says isn't entirely wrong. But she crossed a line when she targeted you two."

That's just how Mrs. York was. She often chose to dwell on troubles, yet she had her limits. Bullying her was one thing, but her children were off-limits. Quintessa had planned to drop Mrs. York off at home and then head to the drama crew.

But upon arriving at the York family Mrs. York said, "Come inside. I'll whip up a bowl of spaghetti fory

$19

This meal was tasteless, just seeing her face made me lose my appetite."

Quintessa was about to leave but was swayed by those words and followed them inside.

Mrs. York handed her purse to Wilma, "You two go snack on some fruits. I'll change and then make the spaghetti."

Tyrone, wrapping his arms around Quintessa, sat down, "I realized today how awesome my mom is. Now I know where I got my smarts from."

Quintessa smiled, "She wasn't dumb before, just wisely unaware. Many things, she chose not to bother with, I guess."

Tyrone hugged Quintessa closer, "When did you and my mom get on so well? Seems like you're closer to her than to me. What secrets were you two sharing behind my back?" Quintessa raised an eyebrow, "Thinking of how to win over your mom, to marry into a wealthy family."

Hearing the word "marry," Tyrone felt

a flutter in his heart. He reached out and gently touched Quintessa's stomach "If you're serious about that, we could be making our own little one right now. Then I wouldn't have to keep figuring out how to sneak into your bed anymore."
