Alexander jumped to his feet, his face a picture of shock. "What did you say?"
Choking back tears, Rachel stammered, "I'm so sorry, really sorry, It was jealousy. I've always been so jealous. Quinn stole Ty from me, and when a woman came to me saying she could help me get revenge and asked me to replace out when and where Quinn was filming, I just lost my head and helped her. I told her where Quinn was shooting. I thought she was just going to give Quinn a small scare, but I never imagined she would go to such lengths. I'm so sorry."
Rachel's face was streaked with tears; her remorse seemed genuine, even to Alexander, a seasoned attorney. She appeared truly repentant.
Covering her face, Rachel cried so hard that she could barely speak. "I only found out a few minutes ago that she intended to kill Quinn. I panicked. Despite our differences, Quinn is my niece. We're family. Even if I were the worst person in the world, I wouldn't want her dead."
Alexander's expression darkened as he grabbed his car keys and headed for the door.
Rachel hurried after him, "Mr. Harrington, you don't know the place. Let me take you there."
Alexander didn't refuse; he truly didn't know where Quintessa was currently filming.
He drove toward Quintessa's filming location, feeling thankful that it wasn't out of town. Otherwise, even if he had wings, he couldn't have made it in time.
Rachel kept crying silently, her eyes swollen like peaches. She knew how to avoid irritating a man. Alexander, being in turmoil, focused solely on Quintessa. If she made any noise, it would only upset him further.
In his younger days, Alexander had his wild moments, racing cars with Tyrone when they were in high school; they even dared to speed before they turned 16.
As he matured, Alexander left his reckless days behind. But now, he was driving fast again, overtaking and drifting without a second thought.
His hands clenched the steering
wheel, with his veins bulging. His et
face might have looked calm,
this
eyes and the tension in his hands
betrayed his deep concern Content
Suddenly, Alexander said, "Why didn't you go to her yourself? If you truly felt guilty, you should have told her immediately, not come to me."
Alexander had never liked Rachel. She was the type who seemed cunning yet pretended to be kind.
If it wasn't for Quintessa, he wouldn't have bothered with her at all.
Covering her face, Rachel spoke through her guilt, "I was afraid. Quinn has always hated me. If I went, I feared that she'd misunderstand, and I don't have her phone number. If something really happens to Quinn, I couldn't live with myself."
Alexander scoffed. "Right, if something happens to her, you indeed..."
He didn't finish his sentence, but Rachel shuddered, understanding the unspoken implication. Even death would be too good for her.
Rachel had her hands clenched
tighter; her shoulders were shaking
as she bowed her head, and her hair masked her face in a display of utter despair.
"If anything happens to Quinn, I couldn't go on."
