Erin's Three -
Chapter 12
"Granny, can you tell us why mine and Kingston's wings changed colour," Erin asks her grandmother over breakfast.
"Yes dear. You see, your father was a fairy prince."
"What?" Erin says and the guys nearly spit out their coffees.
Granny smiles and hums. "I'm actually a Queen, but in order for both your wings to change to gold you both must be of royal blood. Which is why Adam and Jye's didn't change colour," she says matter of factually and takes a sip of her elderflower tea. "I am actually Queen Brighid of all Fae. Each of the different fairies have their own King and Queen's of course, but I am the Queen of all the fairies. Making you, my dear, Princess Erin of Fae," Granny says proudly and Erin is gobsmacked and just stares at her grandmother with her mouth open. "When my time comes, you will be Queen," Granny adds.
"But Grandpa?" Erin manages to say quietly.
"He was not of royal blood but had he not been killed by the rouge shifters, he would have lived a very long life along with me. He insisted on fighting to prove to our people that he was fit to be my mate, and King," Granny says and shakes her head. "My parents handed me the throne when my father turned ninety. I had only been married to your grandfather for less then a year when they started preparing me and I took over when your father was eleven."
Erin puts her hand on top of her grandmothers as tears well in her eyes.
"I never thought I would be blessed to have a second chance mate until I met William. He is a bear shifter as you know and I am too old to have anymore children," Granny continues and gently wipes her granddaughter's cheek. "But I love his children and grandchildren as my own."
"What happened to his mate?" Adam asks.
"Human hunters. She was in bear form after giving birth to her cubs and went down to the creek to clean up," Granny says sadly. "Those poor cubs were only four days old and William was out getting food for them. He looked after those cubs by himself for twenty years until we met."
"How long have you been together?" Adam asks sadly.
"Eight years. Erin's grandfather died when we had been together for fourteen years. Her father, James, was only thirteen years old. I was heavily pregnant with twins at the time so James and Benjamin stepped up."
"How many children do you have?" Kingston asks.
"Seven. You probably met Erin's uncle. Elder Benjamin," Granny says.
"Oh, umm yeah we did but we didn't know he was her uncle," Jye says.
Granny fills them in on the life of royalty and says that Kingston best ask his family about his bloodline.
A week later and each of the guys families have been invited to Granny's house or should I say mansion. The simple luncheon allowed for free flowing conversation. Jye's parents were ecstatic to replace out they were going to be grandparents but were slightly concerned about their granddaughter already having a mate. Brighid explained that that it was just how the moon goddess had planned it so not to question her motives as the babe would be born a princess and Jack was obviously the best choice as mate. She also explained that the young princess wouldn't feel the mate bond completely until she turned sixteen, but that she would feel drawn to Jack. Kingston's parents and grandparents explained their royal bloodline. His great-grandmother was Princess Maeve of the Woodland fairies. Adam's family were just excited that he had finally found his mate but were glad it was the young girl he cared for as a teenager.
Erin sighed as she stood under the water in the shower and gently rubbed her growing belly. She looked six months pregnant when in reality she was only four and half. But that's what happens when you have three babies inside you.
"What's up baby girl?" Jye asks her as he steps in behind her.
"Just thinking that I'm not long past when I was when I lost my first baby," she replies sadly.
Jye wraps his arms around her and splays his hands on her belly. "Did you see what it was?" he asks softly.
"Yeah, I held him in my hands. Dad told me to name him, even though humans don't recognise babies if they are born dead before twenty weeks..." she trails off.
"We are different," he finishes for her.
"Yeah," she breathes out and leans her head back on to his chest.
"So what did you name him?"
"Rory Jak. Spelt J. A. K," Erin says softly.
"You named him after us? Why?" Jye responds a little shocked.
She turns around and holds onto his forearms. "I had already decided on that name because despite how he was conceived, I wanted him to become a kind, caring and strong person. Just like the three guys who had been there for me when I needed someone."
Jye leans down and kisses her softly. They wash each other in silence and Jye helps dry her off before scooping her up and taking her to bed. They are kissing in bed when the other two guys enter the room after seeing off their families. It doesn't take long for the guys to take their clothes off and join Erin and Jye. They all shower her with kisses and she falls asleep feeling more loved then she ever thought was possible.
