Faith With Wolves Book 2 -
10. Gone Girl
Caleb
My gorgeous mate is asleep beside me and all I want to do is bury myself deep inside her again. She’s still naked with bite marks and hickeys covering her neck and shoulders. Things may have gotten rough last night.
I’ve had sex with many women, but nothing compares to making love to Faith. Her perfect body, sinful moans, and how she matches my aggressiveness with hers. If I want hard, she wants harder. When I go faster she’s moving her hips perfectly to match mine. Our minds and bodies connect in such a spiritual way that I’m angry with myself for not replaceing her sooner.
She should have been my first but at least she’s my last
Pressing a soft kiss to her forehead I climb out of our bed. We were up all night and I’m exhausted, I'm sure Faith is too. But I’ll be a nice mate and let her sleep in longer before we have a long conversation.
I take a quick shower, brush my teeth, and fix my shaggy black hair. Putting on a black cotton shirt with my red and white plaid sweatshirt over it, I lace up my favorite shoes and head downstairs for some breakfast.
The dining hall is pretty full when I enter. A few pack members greet me, but the rest are busy eating which I don’t blame them because I’m starving. I grab my own plate full of pancakes, scrambled eggs, and toast before sitting in my seat.
Dallas and a few warriors are at the table. Marlo is also at the table conversing with everyone. Despite not being a wolf he’s been getting along perfectly with everyone. He’s always making others laugh and he makes Iris happy, which makes me feel better about letting him become a member of my pack.
I was worried the pack wouldn’t accept him when I announced a member of our pack found their mate and he was a shifter. There are many different shifters out there: bears, dragons, and even panthers. But Marlo is the ultimate shifter because he can become any animal he wants to.
The fact that he can change into so many things makes me nervous. I’ve always feared the unknown and shifters like Marlo were unknown to me. I thought his kind was a myth just like fairies but again I was wrong and now I have another rare creature in my pack I’m sworn to protect.
But I can’t worry about Marlo right now, he’s safe. The one I’m worried about is my stubborn mate. I told her not to heal Alpha Raymond and she still did. She exposed her fairy side to hundreds of wolves and almost killed herself.
I feel terrible for locking her up, but I had no choice. I know Faith well enough to know she was going to want answers as soon as she woke up. She’s so determined to replace a cure for the virus that she’s willing to put herself in harm’s way and I refuse to let that happen.
After she fainted and I began driving her home I called her parents and told them what happened. Sasha was terrified of Faith’s fairy side being exposed and Zane was furious. They sent a team of vampires to compel everyone and made a deal with Alpha Dexter to cover everything up.
As far as the guests know they all had a wonderful time and nothing strange happened. They danced, mingled and the night was as boring as every year. Alpha Raymond doesn’t remember being sick or even meeting Faith.
Zane assures me nobody will remember Faith or what she did but I’m still nervous. That's why I locked her in our room. I needed time to think while she cooled off. I sat in my office the rest of the day and drank way too much alcohol to try to numb how guilty I felt.
Hearing my mate scream and cry for me felt like multiple stabs to my heart. Her feelings of being hurt and confused pushed through our bond and almost destroyed me. I had to block her out just to keep myself from ripping the door down and begging for her forgiveness.
After locking Faith up, I didn’t expect our next conversation to turn into sex. I had sauntered into bed ready to sleep. I was drunk and all I wanted was to cuddle next to my mate.
Faith must have had other plans because she straddled me with her hand wrapped around my throat. I woke up gasping for air but instead of being afraid, I was instantly turned on seeing my angry beautiful mate on top of me.
Her blonde hair was messy, her gray eyes had turned golden with rage and her wet pussy was pushing against my cock making me hard. If she wanted to murder me, I would have happily let her.
She’s everything to me
That's why when she wakes up, we have to have a real conversation. I need to apologize and explain my actions. We also need to discuss her using her fairy powers. I don’t care how sick or injured someone is. I will not allow her to expose herself like that again. We got lucky it was a small crowd this time and Alpha Dexter was willing to let us compel so many wolves at once. Because I doubt, we will get lucky twice.
I’m stressed and I hate it. But I have a great group of friends with me, and I know they’re all willing to help. Specifically my gamma Marcus whose job is to protect Faith.
“Hey, Marcus!” I call his name pulling him from a conversation with one of my warriors.
He smiles “Alpha, I’m glad to see you finally graced us with your presence. Where’s our lovely Luna?”
“She’s asleep, long night.” I wink earning a few chuckles and smirks from the warriors at the table.
Iris squeals though and stands up. “I’ll go get her some breakfast, be right back!” she says cheerfully as always kissing her mate before she leaves.
“Geez Caleb she’s still asleep? I know she's still adjusting to being awake during the day but she normally has breakfast with us.” Ruby speaks up next.
Humming a big smile appears on my face. “Let's just say I tired her out.”
Ruby’s face turns from concerned to disgusted pretty quickly. “Eww, I’ll just go wake her up with Iris.” She walks away leaving only us guys at the table.
“Now that their gone what did you want to talk about?” Marcus asks, stirring the conversation back to where it’s supposed to be.
I sigh. “I need you to keep an eye on Faith. The committee meeting didn’t go as planned the other day and I’m worried about her.”
Marcus nods. “What happened? Is Faith, okay?”
“She’s okay but when she wakes up, she’ll probably be angry. Don’t let her out of your sight no matter what. If she’s not with me then I want you right next to her side.”
He smiles proudly. “Will do Alpha. I’ve been wanting to start my official Gamma duties since her ceremony.”
“I know.” I groan. “But we’ve been busy-
“Clearly,” he says pointing at the hickeys on my neck.
“Regardless it’s time for you to step up. Don’t let me down, Marcus.”
Immediately he stands up and gets down on his knees with his hand over his heart. “Alpha, I promise to protect our Luna no matter what. Her life is my life and I’ll protect her until the last breath leaves my body. Where so goes I go. The movies, bar, or the shower I’m there. If she wants to go skinny-dipping in the lake-”
I growl and everyone at the table laughs at Marcus’ silly antics. He quickly gets to his feet and sits back down and I smack him in the back of my head.
“You just had to ruin it huh?”
He laughs. “Sorry I couldn’t resist but seriously I’ll do whatever you want. I take my role of protecting our luna-”
“Caleb! Caleb! Faith is gone!” Ruby rushes over to me and I stand up immediately.
“What do you mean she’s gone? Are you sure?” I look at Faith's two best friends.
Iris nods nervously. “She’s gone Alpha. I followed her scent out the back door and towards the woods. The trail stops right at the edge of our territory.”
A roar comes out from deep within my chest and I march away from everyone and grab my car keys. Dallas runs up next to me.
“Caleb, where are you going? We need to make a plan, figure out who would take her, and have our tech team look over our cameras.”
I shove him out of the way and head to my garage. I jump in my black Audi R8, start it, and put it in reverse. Dallas just stands next to my car confused. So, I roll down the window beside him. “She wasn’t taken Dallas. She left and I know exactly where she went.”
