Fated is overrated -
Chapter 20
Chris
POV
His aura in the room is suffocating, making it harder for us to breathe and swallow. As we sit there waiting for him to start, he glares directly at me without uttering a word. Minutes pass by like this and I am sweating profusely under his scrutinizing eye, it feels like
hours and hours already."
So. Son. Anything you have to say to me?". My father being the smart man he is never comes out with what he knows already.
Instead, he stalks his prey like the predators we are, watching every move we make, until we crack under the pressure and spill everything out in a waterfall of word vomit.
I can't mind link the guys right now as he will see my eyes are glazed over and he will know we are getting our stories together.
F*ck, we should have done this earlier! I decide to reply with what he will most likely know already "there was an altercation between Lola and us today at school" and decide to leave it at that.
Another light year of him just gazing into my soul seems to pass by in his attempt to crack me - which is working as I cannot stand the silence and his aura is palpable.
"Is that all you have to tell me?" he replies with a stoic expression, making me anxious about how much he already knows and how much I should spill. Weighing my options quickly, I decide it has to be about today's incident and I have to elaborate more, but I will keep it vague "well it was a physical altercation.
She disrespected Ashton and of course he couldn't stand for that. The teacher shut it off, but we will still need to have a stern word with her about not disrespecting our ranked members like that".
His stoic expression breaks as I see his jaw clench and he oozes more power and dominance through his aura, making Ashton and Jeremy already bare their necks in submission whilst I barely hold it together.
"Now tell me, son, how did Lola disrespect Ashton exactly?" emphasizing the word son. And f*ck did I walk into that trap. I didn't think it through that he would ask for details! I know we were bullying her and she was standing up for herself, but I can never tell my father that.
Lost for words I feel more aura dripping out of him as he is becoming more and more angry by the second and before I know it, I am baring my neck in submission.
Still at a loss for words thinking this couldn't possibly get any worse, we hear a knock at the door and my father calling out to the person to come in. Great, this person is going to get a real show of seeing all three of us submitting like little puppies. Lola POV
My nerves and head are all over the place and my heart is beating so fast like I have just ran a marathon. No scrape that - like I have ran five marathons and never took a break in between. The entire walk up to the Alpha's office I felt all the omega's curious eyes on me as I passed by.
This can't be good. Approaching the door I take one last big breath, trying to steady myself, before knocking on the door. I can already hear in the Alpha's voice he is fuming when all he bellowed is for me to come in. F*ck!
My eyes are respectfully directed at the floor when stepping in, to not piss off this Alpha any further. "Lola, please take a seat" the Alpha calls to me, in a surprisingly soft tone as opposed to what I was expecting. I glance up and just now I notice Chris, Ashton and Jeremy are all in the office as well, baring their necks to Alpha Culio.
Even though I know I am in for the same treatment - I have to focus hard to not laugh at the sight in front of me. As I take the seat Alpha Culio is motioning to me to sit down on, he proceeds "Lola, I heard about altercations between you and the boys.
I brought you into my office because I would like to hear your honest side of the story", stretching the word honest and giving me a small sympathetic smile I would have almost missed if I hadn't paid attention. I notice Chris flinch at his words, unsure of which part made him flinch, I contemplate how much I am going to spill.
I know the Alpha is extremely smart and his way of interviewing - also known as interrogating people - is well thought out and always extremely effective.
As if he can sense my uneasiness he adds "I assure you that nothing you say in this room will ever be held against you by anyone, I will make sure of that" with a deadly undertone whilst glaring at the three before him.
