Fated is overrated -
Chapter 22
Alpha Culio POV
The discussion in my office has me more baffled than I think I have ever been in my entire life. I am known to be extremely sharp and perceptive in my questioning and interrogation skills, which is why I am almost thrown off my seat a few times already during my meeting with Lola. I haven't conversed much with the girl except when she was brought into the pack when she was young, and right about now I am wondering why I haven't and how all this could have slipped past me.
I am not even referring to the bullying and beating my son and his friends have been giving her, which I am livid about and will definitely be giving them my full Alpha fury for once Lola leaves the room later on. I am referring to who this girl is and why she has never been on my radar before.
I know she came in as an orphan and I know who she is supposed to be - an omega in my pack -, but nothing is adding up with the girl sitting in front of me right now.
And even worse, my son Chris is completely oblivious, although he is supposed to take over from me one day and is supposed to be more perceptive than a regular wolf, which he very clearly isn't. Hell, even my Beta and Delta would have noticed the obvious if they had spoken to her once like I am now.
The girl in front of me, however, is extremely perceptive gawking my every reaction and weighing my questions and her answers so carefully as to say what she needs to say, without actually saying it and pissing the 3 pups in front of me off more.
She is very clever, I can tell, but that is not the most baffling part. What stuns me most is why the hell the 3 pups in front of me with Alpha, beta and Delta blood are suffocating from my aura and baring their necks in submission, while the supposed omega girl in front of me doesn't seem affected at all.
I'm positive she doesn't even realize it herself. Perhaps she believes the aura would only affect those it is aimed at, but it doesn't work that way.
If there were any omega's in this room right now they would be in the far end corner of the room on their knees crying with the amount of aura I have pushed out.
Lola is not only completely unaffected - she doesn't even have a wolf yet, which would make it easier to compose yourself around a strong aura. While the 3 in front of me all have their wolves and have not stopped baring their necks at me.
How could this be? Even if she were from an Alpha blood line before she came here - which I should have been able to pick up easily - she should not be able to withstand my aura without a wolf and on another Alpha's territory. It makes no sense to me at all. And to top it off, she got into a fight with the beta heir and came out completely unharmed. She claims to have bruises, but that is a blatant lie and I know it as she isn't the best liar I have to say.
The only thing I don't understand is why she let them beat her a few weeks ago and decided to stand up this time. Or why she let them just beat her up to begin with, if she is strong enough to withstand my aura.
Either way - I need to replace out more about this. And it has to be kept a secret. I decide to divide the tasks to not arouse suspicion among one of my men and I mink link my Beta, Brandon, 'Brandon, I have a task for you and it needs to remain top secret. Many paragraphs are missing. Read the complete book on Job n ib.com .That is an Alpha command. I need to replace out where Lola is from before she joined us. And any other information on Lola you can replace of course Alpha. Lola who though? and this is a perfect example of how she has remained under our radar 'Lola Chevron.
Get back to me when you have intel.' 'on it!'. Right after I mind link my Delta, Dylan, 'Dylan, I have a top secret task for you, Alpha command to not discuss with anyone beside myself. I need you to do research on wolves unaffected by the Alpha aura, on the Alpha's territory.
Get back to me when you have intel.' I can hear the skepticism and questions in his voice when he replies 'of course Alpha'.
Now that is all settled I can get back to the topic at hand, although I feel very distracted from the phenomenon happening right in front of me." Lola, you are telling me they left you unconscious in the middle of the woods?" and I can't help but let a murderous growl and a glare at Chris escape me.
Once again, I notice she didn't flinch at my growl as the pups in front of me do, all she does is avert her eyes to show me respect.
"Yes Alpha" I hear her mumble in a soft tone. I can tell from Chris' eyes that he is fuming at Lola spilling the beans, but he doesn't dare to move and I can assure you his anger is nothing compared to what I am feeling right now. We are supposed to protect our pack members!
Although I now do not believe she is an omega, she is presumed to be one and they especially should be protected as they have no fighting skills. Not to mention the fact she is a woman and they are untrained. Which reminds me that I still need to revise that old rule.
Looking at the girl in front of me, I think she would be a force to reckon with if she got the proper training. I wonder where she got her current fighting skills from to begin with, as you don't just beat a Beta like that. But all my questions will have to wait as I first need to teach these 3 pups a lesson.
My wolf pushes forward for this last part of the meeting, making it known to all in the room that he is on the same page as I am.
