Fated is overrated -
Chapter 55
Lola POV
Confused, I look back ahead when my eyes spot the 2 Lycan princes in front of me, and the scent of evergreen and cedarwood hits me like a freight train. Shrugging it off, I take a look at the 6.5 ft men in front of me. Their blonde hair is cut short on the sides and a little longer at the top, a few hair strands playfully dropping across their face. As the Lycan princes, they don't have an ounce of fat on their body anywhere, and they are muscular in all the right places. Sharp jawlines.
They have the brightest blue eyes I think I have ever seen, and I can understand why women would replace them attractive. If they weren't such c*cky bimbos even I might have found them attractive.
The look in their eyes says it all however, and it confirms all the stories I have heard about them, as they are looking at me like I am the sh*t beneath their shoes. This book has many missing chapters and scenes if you're not reading it on Jo b n ib. co m. Their jaws are clenched as they glare at me like I stole their candy. They are obviously not pleased with me being here. I'm going to sit back and enjoy the show when the Queen informs them they need to show me to my room, on their floor! "Boys, this is Lola Chevron, former member of the Red Dagger pack. She will be staying with us for the night. I have assigned the vacant room next to yours for her to spend the night.
Their jaws drop and their gaze turns murderous before the Queen continues "you two may escort her to her room, so she can freshen up before joining us for dinner". I try hard to contain my smile at their expressions - it's priceless!
The almighty Lycan princes being ordered around by mum to look after a rogue, who would have thought to see the day? Even though the Queen graciously uses "may" rather than "must", it is clear as day that she is ordering them. After my amusement settles down, I can't help but feel a bit nervous - they are powerful Lycans after all and if their looks could kill, I would have been dead already. And in a few minutes I will be alone with them.
The only upside being that the Queen herself seems to have taken a liking to me and that they would probably not dare piss off their mother- or let's hope so. "Yes mother" one of the twins grits out through clenched teeth. The Queen is either completely oblivious to their mood or she simply doesn't care - as she beams to me "alright dear, I will see you at dinner".
The King is just looking at me warily, but isn't saying anything. I am sure they will have an interesting conversation between the two of them later on. He also doesn't seem too fond of me being here. Luckily it is just for one night.
The King, Queen and all the guards exit the room, leaving me alone with the twins. Tension starts to build as they stare me down without saying anything.
Out of respect, they are the future Kings after all, I keep my gaze pinned to the floor unless spoken to. The tension is so thick it could be cut with a knife, when one of the twins decides to break the silence "why are you here?". "
The Queen invited me. I didn't ask to stay, I wanted to be on my way again by now". The other twin snorts with an evil glint in his eyes "so you are not only a rogue, but a dumb one too? What makes you think you will be let on your way again?".
I wasn't expecting that, the Queen has been so nice to me. Was it all an act? Or are they just saying this to spite me? I feel a sudden burst of anger, whichever it is, neither are very welcoming thoughts.
"Look, you don't like me and I don't like you. I didn't ask to be here, and you didn't ask to escort me around. But here we are, so suck it up like the big brave puppies you can be and stop trying to antagonize me for your own joy" I throw out, before realizing what I have just said to the future Kings. I swear my temper is a complete living.
breathing thing on its own sometimes...
"WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL US?" they both bellow in unison, stalking towards me in a slow, predatorial manner. Dammit Lola, just calm your temper for one f*cking day... I sigh. "I apologize, your Highnesses.
It has been a long 2 weeks, and I would just like to live up to my promise to the Queen and then be on my way as fast as possible again". They stop moving, but are still sporting a murderous glare when one of them says " remember who you are speaking to, you filthy rogue.
Just because our mother has taken pity on you doesn't mean we will. And you don't like us?" he snorts before continuing "b*tch please, everybody likes us, you are lucky we are even allowing you to breathe the same air as us". Here comes the anger again, control it Lola, control it! But I just can't resist a snarky comment at least, who do these f*ckers think they are? "I don't
need anyone's pity. But I promised the Queen, and I always keep my promises" I put on the fakest smile I can muster for these mutts. Oh, how I wish I could kick their *sses.
They walk out of the room without another word and I follow. After walking down endless hallways and an extremely awkward and silent elevator ride, we come to a floor which seems to be close to the outside, as the scent of evergreen and cedarwood is overwhelming here.
I glance around, but the kitchen must be on the other end of the hallway, as all I see are normal rooms. One of the twins signals to a room on my right and grits out,"
That is your room," before they both storm off towards their own rooms. I open the door and before I can even begin to look at the massive room and excessive decorating, Liberty suddenly comes back out from hiding and growls 'Mates! Lola, they are our mates........
