Fated is overrated -
Chapter 57
After having escorted the dirty rogue, Zane and I have a bone to pick with our dear mother. What the f*ck is she even thinking?! Why?! As expected, mother and father are in the dining room early as Zane and I walk in. They were deep in a discussion through mind- link when we stepped in, so we waited a few minutes before jumping in head first. I clear my throat to make them aware of our presence and as I glance to Zane, he has the same pissed off expression I have. "Sorry boys, we did not see you there, sit down please". Zane and I sit down in our usual seats on either side of our parents. As I want to speak up, Zane blurts out "WHAT THE F*CK MOTHER?".
Although I wanted to word it a bit more diplomatic than that, it is the exact same thing that was on my mind. My mother's face distorts in a scowl before raising her voice slightly - a clear indicator she is livid, as she always keeps her composure, even with us - "watch your tone with me, young man. I may be your mother, but I will whoop your a*s if you use that tone with me again! Now, care to try again?".
If I wasn't so pissed off myself I would have laughed at my mother's reply, but now is not the time. I decide to intervene as Zane seems to have his tongue caught. "What Zane meant to ask was why is there a rogue in our house, mother? And even more so - on the same floor as us?".
After having lingered her glare on Zane for another few seconds, she turns her face to me. "Her name is Lola, in case you have forgotten. Stop reading the wrong and incomplete storyline, jo bn ib.com has the correct and complete book. She is in our house as she was fighting 5 rogue wolves off near our borders in her human form. Her wolf is dormant. We needed to question her about the incident".
"That still doesn't explain why she isn't in the dungeons like the rest of the filthy rogues" Zane speaks up, and before our mother can even reply I burst out laughing. "What is so funny?" Zane asks me now."
She doesn't even have a wolf... If I thought she was pathetic before, it has reached another level now. She is a rogue without a wolf!" Zane starts laughing with me, shaking his head."
ENOUGH!" My mother yells at us, this is very unlike her and Zane and I are taken aback. What is going on with her? "I did not raise you 2 to be the arrogant little pups that sit before me now! She was out there alone, without a wolf, and you replace this funny? She could have died!".
"So what if she had? Who cares?" mother's face turns red from anger and just when we expected her to yell at us, the unexpected happens. We jump from our seats as father slams his fist on the table, nearly breaking it in half.
As we were focused on our mother we failed to pay attention to our father, who is now seething and pushing out so much aura that Zane and I have no choice but to submit and bare our necks.
I hate it when he does that! His irises are pitch black, meaning his wolf is also seething, and he takes deep breaths while our mother is rubbing his back gently to calm him down.
One of the positive effects of a mate bond is that a fated mate can calm you down just with their touch and proximity, which mother is doing right now to deescalate the argument.
When his breath is coming our less labored he finally speaks - well, almost bellows - "does the life of a fellow wolf mean nothing to you two?! Would you even bother to replace out Why she became a rogue, why a young lady would go so far as to risk her own life out there?
You two have a lot to learn before you can take over as Kings!". Honestly, I couldn't be bothered to waste time on the why, but I can't tell him that when he is already this angry and threatening our position.
All rogues are filthy and all of them became rogue for a good reason - they are all criminals which I am sure she is too, otherwise she wouldn't have gone rogue in the first place.
