Cindy felt uneasy and deliberately checked the time on her phone. "It's about nine o'clock."

They were running late.

"No rush."

After a pause, Harley continued, "I haven't had breakfast yet."

Cindy was a bit surprised, "Huh? But there is a meeting at 9:30."

Cindy looked outside and suddenly figured out why Harley had parked the car there.

This road was lined with restaurants and food stalls.

Cindy, who had worked as Harley's secretary for over a year, tumbled to the situation. "I'll go and buy you breakfast."

"I'll go."

He beat her to open the car door and get off. "What else would you like to eat?"

Before leaving her house, Cindy had already had breakfast.

And she planned to go on a diet. At the sight of the steam in the restaurant, she swallowed and said, "I'm full."

"Okay."

Harley hummed, closed the car door, and headed to the restaurant.

Cindy looked at the leaving man and sighed with emotions, "My boss adapts to his new role so fast."

Tsk-tsk, she had just agreed to be Harley's girlfriend, and the labor of buying breakfast for him was saved.

Harley soon came back with the food. Cindy smelled the aroma and felt a bit hungry.

Here was the thing. One of her roommates in college was getting married in a couple of days, and she was invited to be a bridesmaid. The dresses had been bought. To make a stunning appearance, she had asked her roommate to buy her the smallest size and have the dress washed. She would go there and change into it.

There was no fallback plan.

But it smelled so good.

Cindy looked at the pancake in the bag. The aroma wafted over and made her mouth water.

She planned to distract herself by turning away and looking out of the window, but Harley handed the breakfast to her and asked, "Pancake or burger?"

Cindy glanced at him and declined with difficulty, "I've really had enough."

Harley took the burger back. "Pancake."

He stuffed it into her hand and said, "Have it while it's hot."

"I'm on a diet."

"Shouldn't you be gaining weight?"

Harley's words gave Cindy the courage to eat the pancake.

Women liked compliments, and Cindy was no exception. To her surprise, the iceberg had grasped the Boyfriend Code on day one.

Cindy looked at Harley and then the pancake. The courage had been mustered up, but she was still torn.

"Have it, and I'll tell you when I started to like you."

He poked the straw into the milk carton and gave it to Cindy.

Harley's words were so compelling that keeping fit suddenly no longer felt that important. She could wear a girdle on that day. "Promise?

"Yeah."

He nodded. Cindy opened her mouth and had a bite.

Her mind was not weak. It was just that the food was too enticing.

"It smells so good."

"Tasty?"

The foodie revealed her true colors. "Yeah."

"Let me try it."

Harley stretched out his hand, but Cindy subconsciously handed the pancake over. At that, Harley grabbed her wrist, pulled it backward, and lowered his head for a bite. Cindy felt warmth in her hand and realized something. "I just bit from the pancake..."
