Tara stood frozen on the spot even after Jonathan and his group had left. Her body trembled slightly, fists clenched tightly, her eyes red with a mix of frustration, anger, and hurt. She stifled a sob, lowered her head, and walked back to the Medical Hall.

The assessment wasn't until 2 p.m., and it was only noon after lunch. Flora felt a bit worn out and wanted to catch some sleep.

"Flora, come on out," Connor texted her, "I'm here to pick you up."

The moment she got his message, Flora's drowsiness disappeared, and she quickly headed outside.

As she rushed out, a man exuding a cold, authoritative aura was walking towards her. Dressed in a perfectly tailored suit that screamed sophistication, his eyes were fixed ahead. Suddenly, his gaze halted, his pupils widened in shock. "The boss?" his subordinate asked, puzzled by the sudden stop. "Is something wrong?"

Following his boss's line of sight, he only managed to catch a glimpse of someone disappearing around the corner.

Samuel's deep, ink-black eyes looked momentarily lost, as if caught in a trance. For a fleeting second, he thought he saw his little sister. His lips tightened into a line, and he muttered coldly, "It's nothing."

He probably just missed her too much just a case of mistaken identity. He was nearby for work and thought he'd pop in to see Tara afterward. Pushing aside the odd feeling, he continued on his way, his face returning to its usual stoic and distant expression.

...

Flora hopped into Connor's car. Cars were a rare sight in Martial World, almost non-existent, so his black Hummer stood out like a sore thumb. "Connor-"

As she opened the door and climbed in, she saw Connor lounging in the back seat. Dressed in a black shirt, his legs slightly bent, the dim light accentuated his sharp yet gentle features, giving him an air of aloof elegance.

Hearing the door, Connor looked up, his usually cool eyes softening with a warm smile.

"Connor, come here, give me a kiss-"

Flora plopped down next to him, leaning in with playful mischief.

"Cough, cough, cough- Ms. Flora-"

A head popped up from the front seat. Flora paused, turned her head, and face lit up with a grin,

"Hey hey hey, it's me!" Beck replied, scratching his head.

"Ms. Flora, long time no see. I brought you something nice!" he said, handing her a bag.

More food.

They had started treating Flora as the foodie she was, always bringing her something to munch on. "There was supposed to be more, but..."

"But you

Beck turned around, annoyed, "Moss, nobody would think you're mute if you kept quiet."

Moss raised an eyebrow, "I was never mute."

Beck: "Heh!"

Flora laughed. Seeing Moss and Beck reminded her of the good times in Austenberg, which she dearly missed.

"Once we're done here, I'll take you back," Connor said gently, picking up on her thoughts.

"Okay." Flora nodded. "Aren't you busy? Why did you come over at lunchtime?"

"A man's got to put his woman first,

no matter how busy he is." He always had a way of delivering sweet words with such sincerity. "You've got the assessment in the afternoon, right? You can catch a nap now."
