Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life -
Chapter 1297
The little girl was quite fond of her afternoon naps.
"So, I'll just nap on your lap then," she said with a playful smile.
Flora chuckled, lying down with her head and arms resting comfortably on his thighs. The man's large hand naturally settled on her head, a gentle weight.
"Boss and Ms. Flora are still so sweet together," Beck commented from the passenger seat, a hint of envy in his voice. "Boss is really thoughtful..."
Moss gave him a sideways glance without betraying any emotion.
"If you were as well-behaved as Ms. Flora, I'd be considerate to you too," he thought without saying a word.
"Moss, I'm feeling sleepy too. How about I crash on your lap for a nap?" Beck joked, his expression carefree and teasing.
Moss stiffened, turning his gaze away with a flat "Keep dreaming."
After a solid two-hour nap, Flora returned to the Medical Hall, looking fresh and lively. The disciples there eyed her with a mix of respect and curiosity. Having someone from the Enforcement Division bring her meals personally was not something they dared to mess with. "Ms. Flora," Tara approached, offering a glass of water. "Here, drink some water."
Flora raised an eyebrow, accepting the glass with a nod.
"Tara, I was worried when you first joined the Martial World. I thought you might struggle with the Summer family issue without many connections. Seems I was worrying for nothing," Tara smiled, her curiosity piqued. "You even know Jonathan... What's the story there?" Flora gave her a knowing smile. "What do you think?"
"Jonathan seems to hold you in high regard," Tara remarked, pursing her lips. "I've known him for years and we're quite close. Aside from his boss, I've never seen him be so respectful to anyone else. It's surprising." "You two are close?"
"Yes, over the years, whenever I visit the Enforcement Division, they call me 'Madam.""
"Madam'?" Flora's curiosity deepened.
Tara looked a bit sheepish. "Yes, Ms. Flora, you might not know since you're new here... but I had a thing with a big shot in the Enforcement Division. Both the Enforcement Division and the Roth family have accepted our engagement.
Flora's expression turned thoughtful, recalling how Connor couldn't even remember her name. "Oh, congratulations. So, when's the big day?"
Tara studied Flora's face. She seemed completely unfazed. Maybe she'd misjudged Flora's connection with Mr. Stonnell.
"Well... we're not in a rush."
"But I heard that the Enforcement Division's top dog is already spoken for, has a fiancée and everything," Flora said with a soft chuckle.
"Oh, that's just a bit of fun," Tara
replied with a smile. "With his status, he wouldn't settle for someone with no family backing, who can't even practice ancient martial arts. My family, the Roths, are top-tier in the Martial World. As their only daughter, I'm the only one who can match him."
Being the only daughter of such a prominent family did sound impressive.
Flora clicked her tongue, "But word on the street is, Miss Roth was recently tossed out of the Enforcement Division in quite the undignified fashion, like a stray dog. Is that part of your romance with him too?" Tara's face fell, clearly not expecting Flora to be aware of that.
Flora nonchalantly tossed the
disposable cup into the trash with a flick of her wrist, her demeanor oozing confidence. Her words, though light, cut deep, "Miss Roth, even when spinning tales, try to make them believable. With such a highly-regarded status, clinging to someone else's man... that's a bit low, don't you think?"
