From Here to Ecstasy -
Chapter 68 - More Mature
Recap:
“Somebody better tell me why my son’s a grown man now.” My mom looked at her mom, the Moon Goddess, with a confused look on her face.
“Good question,” I stated, just noticing my voice was a few octaves lower than before.
“Uh-” the Moon Goddess said, looking around at every one of us in the room.
Moon Goddess’s POV
I wasn’t sure if I could keep my daughter, Summer, calm. I could see she wanted to curse me or rant. I knew she wasn’t going to like this one bit, but it was something that needed to happen. Sonny’s mate would have died, effectively killing Sonny, had I not.
“Uh?” Summer asked me, her eyes narrowed, her arms crossed over her chest.
“Well, here goes nothing. He had to grow up fast or his mate would have died. He can handle being a grownup. Look at him.” She pointed at Sonny. “He was more of a grownup to start with. He could talk full sentences before he was eight-months-old. He’s very mature for his age. He’s also royalty and has always been so. His wolf was hiding until the time was right, it’s the reason why no one could smell the wolf in him. I couldn’t say anything until his mate found him. Do you understand?”
“Yes and no. How can he be royalty? I’m not of noble birth,” Summer asked me.
“His wolf is royalty, therefore he is too. I need to go and check on my other grandchildren. And, this grandma needed a hug, too,” I explained, hoping they understood what I was talking about. I was trying to be positive and upbeat.
“What do you think about this Sonny?” The Moon asked her grandson. I could tell he was thinking about his answer rather than just spitting out his answer. He was the smart one out of every one of her grandchildren. I knew he felt left out by not having a wolf, but he never complained.
“I want my mate to live. And, since I have always felt as if I should have been the oldest brother I believe this is the right time for me. Thank you, grandma,” Sonny told me as he bowed his head, giving me a shit-eating grin afterward.
I shook my head and disappeared, not wanting to listen to Summer, my daughter, complaining. And, I knew she would complain. She was hard-headed and wanted her children to act their age - which would be almost impossible with the youngest children of Summer’s or any grandchildren.
I found my grandchildren and I hugged them, asking them if they had any problems. My grandchildren may joke with me, but they knew not to question my word. I couldn’t wait to see what kind of man or woman they would become. Each one of them had a different personality. Some were quiet and some of them liked joking around. I had two grandpups that were quiet - Kaiden and Sonny.
“Grandma, what’s my age now? I want to mark my mate,” Sonny asked through our family mind-link.
“Um, you would be twenty-five as of right now. How old do you feel?” I asked him.
“I feel as if I’m twenty-seven, why?” He answered as he paced around, his mate sitting down on his bed.
“Your body and wolf are more accurate, but you are old enough to mark your mate, okay?” I answered him, not hearing anything back.
“Grandma, he’s a little busy marking his mate. I guess he will contact you later. Love you,” Moon, Sonny’s wolf, explained as he snickered.
Well, at least Sonny is more mature, unlike his wolf.
I knew my daughter, Summer, wasn’t finished talking to me, so I went back to the office to let them know what was going on. I knew they were following me and I could feel their confusion. I knew they didn’t want their son to deal with being a royal but his wolf picked Sonny to merge with, knowing Sonny would be level headed enough to deal with all the supernatural species. He could pull them all together and live, for the most part, a wonderful life. I knew there were some species who wouldn’t agree but they would have to get over it. Oh, and wait until he sees his castle.
Aw fuck, I forgot to tell him.
We made it to Summer’s office and walked to a chair close to the desk. I sat down and looked at them, waiting to see who would explode first. I should have known it would be my lovely daughter.
“What the hell, Mom? Why would you give him a wolf now and not when he was born. And, why make it grow up so quickly?” Summer ranted as she paced.
“Sit down, Summer,” I calmly said. She went and sat on the couch, her legs bouncing with all the nervous energy she was holding in.
“First off, Moon, his wolf, picked Sonny as his human. There was nothing I could do. Plus, Sonny had always been wiser than his years. He’s also level headed and he will need to keep his cool - which he won’t have a problem with. Plus, his mate would have died if I hadn’t paired them off. Like I said, his wolf was the one who picked him and he’s a royal. My royal wolves are the strongest wolf ever known. I follow my heart and head. Now, are you questioning me?” I explained, not wanting to be questioned but I will for my daughter.
My daughter cocked her head to the side and huffed as she saw her mates smiling. “Okay. I’m sorry for asking so many questions. It’s just freaky seeing my young son grow up in an hour.” Summer rolled her eyes and went to her desk.
“Is that all?” I asked her as I stood up.
“No, is he going to live here with us? She asked.
I sat back down in the chair, taking my time straightening my dress and trying to get my head wrapped around my response. I huffed and crossed my arms, getting ready to be accosted.
“He won’t be living here. He has a huge ass castle he needs to live in.” I paused when I heard Zane growl. I held up my hand. “Did you forget what I said about his strength? I know you’re worried he will get hurt, but he will be okay and one of the other children will be going with him.”
“What?!” Summer yelled as she stood up and came around the desk.
