Her Destined Alpha -
Chapter 29
DELSANRA
I had never felt more broken than I did as I walked away from him, glad the rain had mixed with the tears that streamed down my cheeks. Each step felt heavy, the urge to turn and run back to him was fighting me. I didn’t know it was possible to care for someone this much, that knowing I’ll never see them again hurt to the point I couldn’t breathe. The pain in my chest was drowning me and I realised that I had never been happier than I had been in the last few days.
The banter, the playful teasing, his subtle flirting… or full–on at times… The way he cared for me… He had made a place in my heart for himself… Yes, in this broken, cracked heart. I wasn’t worthy of his time or feelings, and I was far too broken to give him what he had wanted… but…
You know when they say that you only realise something’s value when it’s gone… That is true. Right now, I regret not apologising for calling him a mutt or dog. For not telling him that, despite the fact that he was a werewolf, I wasn’t scared of him. I wanted to tell him that he was the closest thing I had to a friend and that yes, I considered him one. I felt something for him that I could not put a name to…
Maybe if we had the time, I’d get over my fear of werewolves, or at least of him. My l!ps quivered as Amoria yanked me away. I turned and glanced back at his body that lay on the ground under my spell, I had to slow his body functions just so he would let me go. Yes, he was an Alpha, a strong one at that, but the witches before us were powerful. I had to, for his own good.
The rain poured down on him, and my heart ached as I looked at him one last time. Goodbye… I’m sorry, Rayhan, for everything. We turned a corner, and I saw a sleek black car was awaiting us. The three women walked towards it swiftly, with Amoria dragging me along. They had truly wanted to capture me, the three witches were proof of that.
Amoria, one of the strongest of our generation. Danaima, I remembered was a fire element witch. She was strong and temperamental just like her red hair portrayed. The last was Elizia, she could control the weather and earth. She was considered a protégée but unlike the other two, she was level headed. She was one of the ones who never abused me as a child…
I wondered if I could plead my freedom from her? Danaima grabbed my arm, shoving me into the car. My vision spun when I hit the opposite window, and I stumbled as I tried to catch my balance.
I had used the last ounce of my ability to create a small barrier over Rayhan, just in case. It would fade away soon, and by then I hoped we’d be far away. Forget about me, Rayhan. Find yourself a beautiful she – wolf to call your own. The thought itself hurt, but what could I do? This was my fate. Ultimately, I was a prisoner once again. Elizia and Danaima got in on either side, and Amoria took the front passenger seat.
”Let’s go, Cheyne.” Amoria said, looking at the man in the driver’s seat. Cheyne… Amoria’s long time crush. From a young age, she had always said how she would marry him. The son of one of the oldest witch families. He didn’t even glance at me as he gave her a nod and drove out onto the road. It seemed many had moved to England… Cheyne was in America when I had been sold to the Warden.
”Knock her out, Danaima, she shouldn’t see where we are going.” ”With pleasure.” The last thing I felt was a sharp pain in m y neck, and then, my world went black. I awoke to a burning pain around my wrists and neck. A scream tore from my l!ps as I clawed at my neck. They had used magical cuffs to bind me, and they were like stinging nettles biting into my skin; only a thousand times worse. ”Calm down or it will only get hotter.” A calm yet cold voice spoke.
I tensed as everything came rushing back and I realised where I must be. I looked around, I was in some sort of room, or should I say, a holding cell. The symbols engraved into the walls and floor consisted of many barrier spells.
This was the strongest type of prison one could ever build and once activated the one who was bound inside could never leave willingly. It was similar to what Endora had put me in, only hers required her to be close.
This was just so much stronger… A cell where the one bound is unable to perform magic. I looked away from the cold stone walls and at the woman before me. High Witch Eldridge Alden, Cheyne’s mother. So, she was here too…
Her streaked grey and black hair was pulled into a sleek low bun and she was looking at me with a cold sneer. ”Do you know the punishment for running away?” I looked at her sharply. Running away? ”I never-”
”Do not speak unless spoken to!” She thundered, snapping her fingers.
A surge of pain rushed through me, numbing my hands as it spread from my wrists up my arms and through my body . The cuff tightened and only when I stopped struggling did it ease up ever so slightly.” You ran Delsanra Diana Silver, you assisted Endora, and you delved into dark magic. You will atone for your crimes daughter of darkness. And you will fulfil your purpose.” She spat icily.
“I didn’t run away.” I tried again quietly. Gasping when the collar tightened, my eyes stung from the pain. She scoffed, shaking her heads. ”Your father told us what happened. Don’t you dare lie! But what more can we expect from an abomination.
”She hissed as she came over, removing a coiled whip from her belt. My stomach sank. Flashes of painful memories passed before my eyes, and I closed them tightly. I knew what would come next… but I was calm. It wasn’t like I wasn’t used to this.
When the first lash struck my back, my breath hitched as the stinging pain slammed through me.” You will learn to respect your elders and to not answer back.” She struck me again and a small whimper escaped my l!ps.
”Stubborn… you have pride? Do you think you are worthy of that?” She chanted a spell and this time when the whip touched me, I screamed in agony, it felt like a hundred whips had lashed me at the same time. ”Better. Now, let’s begin.” I tried to summon my powers, to break the bonds around me, but they only tightened.
The pain only grew and no matter how hard I tried, there was nothing I could draw on and soon I couldn’t even focus. Lash after lash, the pain was crippling me. It had been a while since my last beating… but the memory was all too fresh. This pain? You don’t forget it… Warm liquid ran down my back and I knew she had drawn enough b***d to paint this very room in.
She didn’t stop and I tried to count to focus on anything but the pain. Rayhan. His face swam in my mind and I grabbed onto his memory. Trying to think of him and only him. She didn’t stop, and I could no longer cry out. My heart was palpating fast and my vision was blurring. She breathed heavily looking at me. ”Look at your arrogance. Even now you won’t lower that head of yours?
”She spat, backhanding me across the face.” High Witch Eldridge, surely we are not meant to be dealing out a punishment like this without a proper council meeting. ‘I looked up to see the woman who had spoken, and I felt a sliver of hope. High Witch Magdalene, the strongest of the high witches. She was here too… Her stoic face was cold as she looked me over, her l!ps pursed.
”High Witch Magdalene, with all due respect, we can all agree, she deserves this,” Eldridge said quietly. Both were powerful but I was sure Magdalene held more prominence.” Perhaps. I don’t disagree, but if she is beaten without us first replaceing the answers, it is wrong no matter how low of a criminal she is.” She said, snapping her fingers as she whispered a spell and the cuffs vanished.
I crumbled to the floor, not even realising they were holding me up. I couldn’t move. The agonising pain that was blistering through my back had me captive, and it was taking my all to simply not give in to the darkness that was calling me so welcomingly.
”My daughter and I will do the honours tomorrow.” A voice I never wanted to hear ever again came. I looked up slowly, my gaze falling on my so–called father. He hadn’t changed much, the contempt and hatred in his cold blue eyes was still the same, Amoria stood by his side, arms crossed.
”Elder Samson, as you wish. After all, she caused you great distress by running away.” Magdalene said with a nod. How was that even fair? It was his word against mine! Could no one see that I was not lying? But I couldn’t speak, I was barely keeping my eyes open; my body was too weak to move.
One word stood out as I stared at the man before me. ‘Elder‘ meaning he was a senior of the coven now. Great, give power to the abusers. ”We will perform the spell in public and everyone can see what happened that night.”
”He said coldly. I didn’t get it… how could he promise to do that, surely they would see he was lying…? Unless he had another plan… My stomach twisted as I looked at him fearfully. Magdalene and Eldridge nodded.” Very well, after that, we shall see what will happen next.” Eldridge said.
The two women walked out, leaving me alone with my father and sister. ”Seems she’s been whoring it out. Look at the l!ps. Let me wipe that gunk off for you.” Amoria remarked, stepping forward.
She grabbed my face roughly, digging her nails into my cheeks, and was about to wipe my l!ps when I yanked away with a surprising strength I didn’t know I still possessed after that beating. No, Rayhan put that on me… The thought brought tears to my eyes. God… I was useless. ”Oh? You’ve grown a backbone?!” She was about to slap me one when Samson spoke.
”Don’t. We need to respect the Coven’s wishes. Do as I said, and then let’s leave, tomorrow we shall see what happens. ”Do what? I could only watch her as she whispered a spell and jabbed a finger in my forehead and my eyes fluttered shut as something filled my mind. My heart thudded as I watched myself pack a small bag and escape from the mansion, what was this?
Samson ran after me, but I created a huge flame as he shouted for Amoria and Elinai It took me a few seconds to realise they were planting false memories in my head, so tomorrow when I was present before the elders, I would be the obvious culprit.
But that was normal, right? I was never the victim, I was a criminal who was punished and abused. I didn’t move, even when she shoved me away and stepped back, I simply lay there. She re–activated the cuffs with a spell before turning away.
”Tomorrow she will be trialled for helping Endora.” Amoria said with humourless laugh. I didn’t hear what Samson replied but I didn’t care either. I just… I was tired of life I truly was… … No one listened, no one cared. Except him. Yes, deep down, I knew he cared…
Rayhan…
