Robert's POV

I opened the gun and took out all the bullets. I decomposed them all and threw the gun away.

"I-I have nothing to hurt you now. Trust me" I said, trying to make her comfortable.

She looked shocked for a second. "Which game are you playing this time, Robert?" "I-I... I am not!"

"G-Get away"

I went back three steps. "Tell me. What do you want?"

"I want to live with Alex and Mom!" she yelled. "But you won't let that happen"

"Fine. Live with them" I said, defeated. "It is fine"

It is fine for you, not for me, Hailey.

I-I have no one else. You know that, right?

But... it is okay.

I am the one who doesn't deserve anyone, not you.

She looked at me and scoffed. "What is your plan this time?"Some sentences are incomplete if you are not reading this novel on Ebookex.com. Visit Ebookex.com to read the complete chapters for free. I stood up and went to her. She didn't go back. I held her by her forearms. "I am not. I want you to trust me"

"I trust that you are again playing some game," she said and looked sideways. "I just wonder why"

I made her look towards me. "No. No, Hailey. Y-You can live with them. It is okay"

"Mom too?"

"Yes," I sighed. "But... why don't you trust me?"

"You?" she laughed. "No one can trust you. You hurt me every time"

I realized how true her words were. "Fair enough" I went back and picked up the suitcase. "It is yours, right? Take it"

She nodded and took the suitcase. "You will go back?"

"No," I replied.

"Okay" She left the room and I sat down on the bed.

So, I finally... lost her.

Why God?

Why?

She... She said that I always treated her like some... thing.

Is it true?

She never loved me?

It was all fake?

FAKE.

Yes, right.

Love is always fake.

I got up and called Ron. "Close all your projects on Nicholson. We will not follow him anymore"

"W-What?" I could hear his shocking emotions right through his voice.

"You heard me" I cut the call and sat down.

So... this is the end.

I won't ever replace Nicholson now. Hailey is safe as long as Alex thinks that I don't know his reality. And now... I am on my way.

I messaged Hailey, my private hospital's address, where her mom was.

I received Ron's call again.

"What?"

"Boss, what happened? You have tracked this guy for the last 17 years. What now?"

"Just do what I say!" I spoke irritated.

"No Boss" he interrupted. "Why?"

"Because Hailey is with him and we can't let him know that we know this. If he feels that we are keeping tabs on Alex, he will know the truth. Hailey will be in danger that way. So?" "Boss but-"

"I told you enough. Now, you don't get to share this with anyone else than Cane"

"Okay Boss"

He ended the call and I booked the ticket on my way back home.

I thought this would bring us close.

But it made me realize it again.

I can't be loved.

I went back to my house. This house is empty, Hailey. Without you, it is not a home. It is just a building- and I want a home.

How can I survive?

How will I live without anyone to share my thoughts with?

After Max, you were my only one.

And now?

Now, when I realized that it was all fake?

I ordered beer and sat down. I know how to get over this.

"I know!" I cut the call and sat down. It has been over a month since I talked to her- and no, I am not sane anymore. I have lost every purpose of my life.

I have not visited my legal office or my Mafia office. Xander is handling everything- if it wasn't for him, my business would have shut down till now.

And MO? Well, Ron and Cane are a hell of good leaders.

I am just at my home, doing nothing. I just drink and sleep and eat and again drink.

She has left me no message from that day, Guess, she is happy without me, now. Maybe she even forgot about me. Maybe, she moved on and even has someone in her life, she deserves every happiness in her life. After knowing what she thought about us, it was best to let her go.

"Boss!" I heard a voice and looked up to replace Ron. He snatched the bottle away from me. "Please don't. You have to stop this"

"I am your boss. You don't tell me anything!" I said in a drunken voice.

"Please boss..."

I sighed and laid back. "What's wrong?"

"The reports just came back" he informed me. "You need to see a doctor"

I got up. "I don't"

He gave me a paper. It was a doctor's prescription.

"So, I may have cancer?" I laughed.

"Y-You will if you don't stop drinking anymore..."

"That's great! I wanna die anyway" I became excited and took a bottle. He snatched it again. "Please, boss!!"

I sat down and looked at him in irritation. "You will leave, and once you do, I will drink again. You can't stop me"

He looked at me worried and then took all the bottles. "I will order more," I smirked.

He sighed. "I know the exact solution" he left the house as I waited for his solution.

It has been two hours since he left. Yeah, I haven't drunk because I want to know his solution. But maybe I should, he has no solution.

I picked up another bottle and as I was gonna drink it, I heard a voice that froze me.

"No, Robert, stop!" I saw Hailey standing with blurry vision.

Am I hallucinating?
