Chapter 42

In an instant, Acacia felt like she’d been struck by lightning, her face turning a ghastly shade.

Una also jumped in fright, as if her blood had been frozen solid!

“Holy cow! What just happened?”

Sweating bullets, Acacia gritted her teeth and asked, “Didn’t you sell this n*ecklace? Why is it at the auction?”

“I did sell it. This can’t be!” Una said in shock.

“What are we going to do now?! Thaddeus is right there. He’s going to see the gift he gave me sold. How’s he going to feel about me? He’s definitely going to be pis sed!” Acacia said it angrily, on the brink of tears.

“It’s okay! There might be more than one of these n*ecklaces; maybe it’s just the same.”

“There’s only one in the world! The auctioneer just said it’s the one Thaddeus gave me! How could he be fooled by such an excuse?”

At this point, both mother and daughter were swamped with various thoughts.

Acacia was thinking about how to explain everything to Thaddeus.

Una was wondering why the n*ecklace she sold to the pawnshop was here, and it was donated under the name of the K Group.

Suddenly, she sat up straight, attracting the attention of those around her.

Could it be that the pawnshop was also owned by the Ashbourne family?

With so many treasures entering the pawnshop every day, the Ashbourne group chose this unremarkable n*ecklace to donate to the charity auction. What a coincidence!

Una’s brain buzzed, and her gaze towards Evadne became even more vicious.

That bit ch must have had a hand in it!

Only she knew that Ruby Enigma was a gift from Thaddeus to Acacia. Driven by jealousy, she deliberately used the Ashbourne family to expose the n*ecklace, intending to sow discord and get back at them!

On the other side.

Thaddeus’s face was incredibly dark.

His chest was heaving under his suit, and cold sweat trickled down his forehead.

“Thad? Are you okay?” Jareth was taken aback by his unusual behavior but had no idea why.

The Ruby Enigma was a symbol of Thaddeus’s unique feelings for Acacia. From design to material selection to having the designer personally carve it, every step was his heart and soul.

Thaddeus had never invested so much in a woman.

But now that his sincere love was being openly bid on stage, it was as if he had been stripped and nailed to the pillar of shame for all to see and mock!

“The representative of the K Group who donated it said that The Ruby Enigma was given by a pa**ionate man to his lover, and it has extraordinary meaning. True love cannot be measured by money, so this item is displayed last, and its auction method is quite special

Finally, following the advice of the K Group, this n*ecklace will be auctioned without a reserve price!”

Upon hearing this news, Acacia felt like she’d been hit by a truck. Everything went black before her eyes.

All eyes were on it, and the excitement even exceeded expectations when the Dante Chair was auctioned!

Thaddeus could no longer bear it, his eyes turning red with anger. He gritted his teeth and managed to say.

“Stop.”

“What?”

“Stop the auction immediately; this item is mine!”

Jareth’s face was filled with shock, his mouth agape.

At this point, Thaddeus noticed Cas sius’s seat was empty. Ilana had disappeared at some point.

His fists clenched tightly, and he slammed them into the armrest, creating a dangerous atmosphere that even startled Jareth.

Ilana, her tactics were really clever!

Was she satisfied now after humiliating him to this extent?

The drama she had set up was about to begin, but Evadne had lost the mood to enjoy it and left early.

In the restroom, she looked at her reflection in the mirror and let out a deep sigh.

The past Evadne, though experienced in the ways of the world, still retained her innocence. She had always been pampered by the Ashbourne family and had never resorted to such tactics.

But now, without Thaddeus, why was her mind filled with schemes?

She remembered Thaddeus’s shattered expression when Ruby Enigma was brought to the stage. She felt that she might have gone too far.

Actually, she could have pretended not to see the n*ecklace. There was no need to publicly humiliate Thaddeus by putting it up for auction, but she just couldn’t stand it.

It’s not that she couldn’t stand divorcing Thaddeus. Her love that she pursued for thirteen years had already disappeared. She had accepted this fact.

She just couldn’t stand that Thaddeus, who was so smart, couldn’t see through the fact that the person he loved was not a good person.

“I’m too nosy and I won’t do this next time.”

A pang of pain surged in Evadne’s heart, and she chuckled bitterly.

This was the last time and she won’t interfere in Thaddeus and Acacia’s affairs.

Suddenly, the restroom door was kicked open, making a loud noise.

Evadne looked on calmly.

Acacia strode in angrily, dragging her cumbersome dress.

“Ilana! You bitc h!”

“You’ve been cursing for over three years. Is your vocabulary really that limited?” Evadne sneered, not angry at all.

“It must be you! You’re the one who put the n*ecklace Thaddeus gave me up for auction! How could you be so despicable and so low?”

Acacia took another step forward but stepped on her dress and almost fell, the strength of her revenge halved, her face as red as a ripe apple.

“I just honestly donated something. I didn’t use any tactics. Ms. Acacia, you can’t just slander people.”

Evadne took a step back, fearing that she was going to pounce and bite her.

Such a has sle, she’d have to go get a rabies vaccine.

“Ilana! You can’t get Thaddeus’ love, eh? So you resort to this cheap trick to embarra** me and Thaddeus and mess up our relationship! You think you’ve won by doing this? You think you can wedge yourself between me and Thaddeus and make Thaddeus fall for you? Dream on!”

Acacia glared, her big and lustrous eyes burning with hatred.

“The n*ecklace was willingly sold by you so it’s not yours anymore. Whoever bought it or did whatever with it, it’s none of your business. If you’re angry or bitter, that’s your own doing; you can’t blame others.”

Evadne avoided Acacia’s gaze, no longer wanting to argue with her. She turned to leave.

If it weren’t for Thaddeus, she wouldn’t bother with such a hypocritical woman.

“Stop! Come back!”

Acacia was furious, her eyes wide as she grabbed Evadne’s slender wrist and gave it a harsh tug.

Evadne winced, her eyebrows furrowing.

Acacia had actually yanked off the bracelet grandfather had given her, leaving a noticeable red mark on her delicate wrist.

“Give it back!” Evadne was instantly angry; her eyes were sharp.

Acacia clenched the forcefully torn bracelet in her hand. She had liked it from the start, but her grandfather had given it to her least favorite person.

“Ilana, you’ve taken what’s mine, you shameless woman! If I can’t have it, neither can you!”

Acacia laughed cruelly, smashing the bracelet against the marble sink.

“No!”

Cra ck!

Evadne’s heart shattered as she watched the now-broken bracelet.

The bracelet grandfather had given her was ruined by Acacia!
