Chapter 51

Evadne had been cooped up in Starry Villa for a solid three days.

She was hell-bent on replaceing a matching diamond to fix the bracelet Grandpa had given her, and she barely slept a wink in those three days. When she was dead tired, she would take a quick nap in her studio, grab a bite of something simple when she woke up, and then return to work.

Her three brothers were kicked out of the villa during the day, and they would ditch all their social events in the evening to come back and have dinner with her.

Despite the feast her brothers had prepared for her, she would sit there, poking at her pasta with her fork, looking all down in the dumps.

Her brothers were at their wit’s end, and they didn’t have a clue how to help her.

They didn’t know the first thing about jewelry!

“Ms. Evadne,”

Evadne snapped out of her thoughts and looked at Mr. Louis listlessly.

Mr. Louis pulled out a box from behind him that he had prepared beforehand and placed it in front of her.

“Mr. Louis, what’s this?”

“Just open it.”

Evadne furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, and opened the box.

The moment she saw what was inside the box, she was taken aback, Her hand flew to her mouth, and she stared at the sparkling diamond bracelet.

Even though there were slight differences, the bracelet in the box was very similar to the one grandpa had given her!

“This belonged to Mr. Patric, and it was one of his proudest creations. He had intended to give this bracelet to his lover, but he didn’t get the chance in the end.” Mr. Louis said, a hint of regret in his voice.

“Lover? Mr. Patrick never got married, Who was his lover?” Arnold asked curiously.

Mr. Louis glanced at him, “Who hasn’t had a crush before!”

“I actually thought Mr. Patrick didn’t like women.”

Elvis joked, sipping his drink, “So why didn’t he give it to her? Got cold feet?”

“Mr. Patrick’s lover was a friend he had grown up with. He used to despise her and would often tease her. But after twenty years of being together, Mr. Patrick fell for her without even realizing it. She got married, and he wanted to give her this bracelet as a gift. But she got into a severe car accident on her wedding day and was declared brain dead. She left this world.”

Upon hearing this, the siblings of the Ashbourne family were taken aback, their hearts filled with sorrow.

“Since then, Mr. Patrick cut off all emotional connections. He never fell for any other woman again and lived his lonely days comforting his soul. He knew his feelings were still there, he just couldn’t replace an outlet. Mr. Patrick wasn’t incapable of love. On the contrary, how many men in this world could love as deeply as Mr. Patrick?”

Evadne couldn’t help but sigh, a hint of envy in her eyes.

“But isn’t all this tragedy because Mr. Patrick could not realize his own feelings? Isn’t that just asking for trouble?”

Cas sius, Arnold, and Evadne all glared at Elvis, who drank his drink awkwardly.

A bitter feeling welled up in Evadne’s heart.

Mr. Patrick, who seemed so cold and unfeeling, had actually fallen for a woman without realizing it. During her three years of marriage with Thaddeus, did that man ever show her a hint of compa**ion or affection?

Did he ever regret it after their divorce?

Could he? No way.

If he had any regrets, he wouldn’t have kept hurting her with his words; if he had any regrets, he wouldn’t have sided with those horrible women without knowing the truth and questioning her character.

After the divorce, she was no longer his wife, and he didn’t even bother to show her basic respect.

Evadne scoffed in her heart, picked up her gla**, and downed the drink. The burning sensation in her throat sobered her up instantly.

Comparing Thaddeus with Mr. Patrick, Mr. Patrick would probably be pis sed.

“Ms. Evadne, you should take this bracelet. I’ve compared it; it’s very similar to your bracelet.” Mr. Louis said seriously as he looked at her.

“No, I can’t. This is Mr. Patrick’s legacy, and it’s too valuable. I can’t accept it!” Evadne felt a pang in her heart, and quickly pushed the box back towards him.

“Mr. Patrick left a will, any of you can take his things whenever you want; don’t be shy.”

Tears welled up in Evadne’s eyes.

“You’ve been working so hard to fix that bracelet these past few days, and I’ve seen it all. That bracelet must mean a lot to you. You’re a good kid, Mr. Patrick would have wanted you to have this bracelet. Just take it” Mr. Louis said with a loving smile and shoved the box into her hands.

The Ashbourne siblings left Starry Villa that night, bidding Mr. Louis goodbye.

Their luxury car made its way toward Elmsworth.

Evadne was leaning against Cas sius, her eyes half-closed from exhaustion, clutching the box tightly in her arms.

“Evadne, there’s something I need to tell you. The night you came back to Skyrim, Thaddeus contacted me.” Cas sius said, his voice a bit h oa rse.

“I know.” Evadne’s heart ached, but she responded casually.

“I told him to stop contacting you, and I said some pretty harsh things to him. I don’t know what he thinks now.”

“You did good. I’m way too good for him. There’s no way he could easily get to me. I’m the girlfriend of the CEO of the K Group.”

“Yes, you’re the goddess in all the Ashbourne men’s hearts.” Cas sius looked at her with a loving smile.

“Bro, phone.” Evadne reached out for his phone.

Cas sius was lost for words, handing her his phone. “The pa**code is your birthday.”

“I know.”

Evadne scrolled through his contacts, decisively adding Thaddeus to the block list.

“You’re quite decisive,” Cas sius chuckled.

“How will he ever remember what you said if I don’t cut him off completely?” Evadne’s eyes were icy as she spoke of her ex-husband.

Thaddeus was barely eating or sleeping these past few days because his ex-wife had ghosted entirely him.

Ilana had vanished, and Hamiltion was hounding him with calls every day, nagging him more than a love-struck teen girl.

“Mr. Thaddeus, should we call the cops?” Gordon suggested from the side.

He tried to help Thaddeus brainstorm, “We could report her missing. Technically, you and Ilana aren’t divorced yet, you’re still husband and wife. It’s normal for a husband to report his wife missing. There’s no way we can’t replace her.”

“This is your brilliant idea?” Thaddeus shot him a discontent look.

“Well, what else are we supposed to do? Ilana’s disappeared off the face of the earth. She doesn’t have a phone, no friends, even the only person who could reach her won’t give you the time of day.”

Thaddeus glared at his clueless secretary, wishing he could just shut him up.

Last night, he tried calling Cas sius only to replace out he’d been blocked!

For the first time, Thaddeus experienced what it felt like to be thrown into the abyss. He sat there, head spinning, thoughts chaotic. It took a good ten minutes before he collected himself.

The feeling of being oppressed and being humiliated stung deep.

Thaddeus stood up, grabbed his suit jacket from the coat rack, and headed for the door.

“Get the car ready, and we’re going to K Orld Hotel!”

Once back in Skyrim, Evadne threw herself into work.

Jason had been leading the senior team in meetings these past few days, running the show. Seeing Ms. Evadne back in high spirits, he finally relaxed.

The hotel’s occupancy rate had increased by 20% recently. Not an earth-shattering achievement, but progress nonetheless.

Evadne had recently re-planned the hotel’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus and even held a food festival. Now, they had more and more customers coming specifically for the food. The income from just the dining section was already pretty impressive.

But for Evadne, these achievements were far from enough.

She was ambitious, and she wanted the K Orld Hotel to grow stronger and surpa** the Abernathy group’s hotels.

In marriage, she had suffered a crushing defeat.

But in business, she was determined not to lose to Thaddeus!

“Did I hear right that someone actually booked our Presidential Suite last night? The one that’s been vacant for two years?”

Evadne casually asked while looking over financial reports.

“Guess who booked it?” Jason gently ma**aged Ms. Evadne’s shoulders from behind, his hands skilled.

“It’s not Jareth again, is it?”

“It’s Glynnis.”

Evadne’s eyes lit up, and she immediately asked, “Why would she book such a big room?”

“According to our room service staff, she was throwing a party with three friends. Later in the night, two tall models sl*pped into her room, and they kept busy all night. Good thing our hotel has good soundproofing. The models left the Presidential Suite around five in the morning, probably to avoid suspicion.”

“I’ve heard Glynnis’s personal life is quite a mess. But two men for three women, isn’t that a bit much?”

Evadne’s tone was distaste, “Make sure the cleaners do a thorough job when they check out. The sheets, the duvet, we’re throwing them all out. I’m worried other guests might get sick.”

Just then, Jason’s phone rang. It was a call from one of the managers.

He answered and listened for a bit, his face quickly darkening.

“What happened?” Evadne asked sharply.

“Ms. Evadne, Glynnis is making a scene in the lobby. She claimed that our staff stole something from her and wanted an explanation now!”
